- Dawn Staley joins postgame to react to the undefeated South Carolina Gamecocks' 79-72 win over the LSU Tigers to take home the SEC Women's Basketball Tournament Championship, the 8th of her career. She reacts to and apologizes for her players' involvement in the scuffle with LSU players and expresses emotions for the players who could not celebrate in the win due to being ejected.

Right?!? I remember crushing hard on her and Tammy Reiss as a young man. Remember how amazed we were at Dawn's level of play? NOW look at the guard talent today!!! The three frosh lived up to their hype Juju, Hannah and Milaysia all amazing!!! If Milaysia wasn't limited because of Dawn's talented rotation she would've had monster numbers like the other two.

Coach Dawn is 💯…..It’s an emotional game. Carolina has got to maintain their composure. When you’re number one, there’s a target on your backs EVERY game. Teams/players will resort to all types of tactics, mental and physical to get you off your square. Bring back trophy #3, Dawn !!!

I agree with you. But the refs created this environment because from the tip off it was chippy and they let them play. The refs should have taken control of the game then. Learning lessons for both though.

It’s not hard to check her record: 8x SEC champs, 2x NCAA national champs (would be 3x champs if 2021 Covid year was counted), etc etc. Her accolades are too many to list here. Shes established SC wbb as the gold standard, newest dynasty in collegiate wbb. We’ll see how this team fares. But there’s no question she’s already a 1st ballot HoF coach and HoF player as well.

I have no respect for someone making excuses like that. Her player could have seriously injured that LSU player. A real leader would have said, "This is not acceptable and offending players will be dealt with". ALl she did was make excuses. Screw her.

Remember that these players are all young. Lord, I did a lot of dumb things when I was young, so let's give them a break. Yeah, bad decision, but you do want your players to play with passion. It can be difficult to reel that back in. That was the correct thing for Coach Staley to say.

I like how she noted that she wasn't always a saint. It happened. Player is gonna be suspended for an NCAA tournament game. Deserved. Take the punishment and move forward. Incredible to lose that many talented players and follow up with an undefeated season. That's incredible.

Dawn Stayley was definitely no saint on that court. Fierce competitor that didn't mind a scuffle here and there. With that being said I know she don't teach this stuff. Both teams are fighting for everything, with NIL, championships, and recruiting the stakes are high!

Coach Staley is the reason I support the Lady Cocks but I have a lot of love and respect for the lady Tigers. That said, ladies we have to be able to control our emotions especially on a platform such as the SEC championship game. But that’s not it. As a society we also need to be better at controlling our emotions. Showing anger has been a trend lately and we need to get away from that before it becomes the norm. I’m guilty of it as well and I need to be better. I will be better. Blessings to all!!

I commend Kamilla for accepting responsibility and apologizing for her part in the fight. Now on the flipside of that coin, Kim Mulkey is an arrogant, entitled, unapologetic lowlife. Her players were taunting and taking part in dirty play the whole game. Her player started the incident yet as a coach you’re not going to apologize for the part that your players took part in? Then the players themselves that were a part of it are taking the attitude of their coach, the head coach, and not apologize? I know she won’t get it or even be considered and that alone tells you exactly how she’s thought of as a coach because of the standard she’s set at SC but after losing 6 players ( that’s her starting 5 + 1 )to the wnba and going undefeated the next year really think about that. Probably her best coaching job in all her years she deserves coach of the year.
