We had some Gehl equipment. It was great! I had the pleasure of meeting a Gehl Exec in 1990. I complemented him for the ease of service and repair of Gehl equipment. He said they made the designer's think about how to improve, not depend on what used to work or what a computer said would work. 👍, Gehl!
We liked our Gehl machinery. Dad bought a BU86 forage wagon in 1963. We used it hard until I sold the machinery in '96. When the dealer sold out, a neighbor bought all the BU series parts for his wagons and he sold some, too. I had a couple Gehl forage harvesters as well. We got good service from them.
Glad you enjoyed! Provided it isn't tired, you should like the 1260. They have a big appetite & can make short work of your crop if you have enough power on it.
It's too bad that Gehl discontinued the forage harvest business. I especially like their twin spinner blowers, but never got the chance to own one because they quit before I was ready to upgrade.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed! It is a shame the ag line didn't hold out. The issue was, the market was flooded due to the pool of farms shrinking. It's surprising they held on as long as they did.

That merger on front of the tractor ahead of the chopper is a great idea.
Still using a Gehl 1540 blower and 970 forage boxes. They're definitely well built. Love seeing this old ad.
We have always had gehl choppers. They are great.
Gehl forage equipment was very popular in my area.
Very awesome to see! My favorite time frame of farm equipment, so great to see all those brands of tractors in the video!
I wish Gehl was still in the farm equipment business. I think they made a better chopper than Dion in my opinion
We have 2 970 forage boxes, and we just recently bought a 1260 chopper, so this was really cool to see.

@Ikon Sees Mr No I think it has plenty of life left, so we will see how it performs this harvest season!
i remember from 1984 & up .... ran into 4500 skidattle steers a few times . good stuff

Too bad they got out of forage equipment. This stuff is great.
