Green Chopping is a great idea that is rarely seen these days ....J&L I LOVE this film thank you so much for your continued dedication to AC and the great quality films.
Ever try to green chop alfalfa on a rainy Minnesota morning? Was so glad when we built a new silo and started making haylage, instead. Already had the harvesting equipment we used for corn silage.
This is common practice today... Very few farms have cattle on pasture . Big corporate farms use feed lots only. But even midwest farm families use very little ground for pasture. If you put your acreage into crops the return is so much more than pasturing cattle that trample & compact the soil.. The manure in feed lots save farmers thousands of dollars in fertilizer each year by spreading it on the very ground their feed is grown.
Thanks for sharing! Is anybody doing this these days? How about the rotational grazing methods of Joel Salatin and Greg Judy? Just bought a 50!acre farm
I USE A NH FLAIL CHOPPER I AM IN CT. I HAVE FIELDS ALL OVER I HAUL THE WAGON WITH MY PICK UP I CHOP A LOAD EVERYDAY TO KEEP FEED FRESH I FEED ALONG FENCE LINE FEEDERS I FEED 25 - 30 BEEFERS OF ALL AGES IT WORKS WELL FOR MY SET UP IF THE WEATHER IS GOOD I OPEN THE BACK OF THE CHOPPER CHOP HAY OUT THE BACK ROUND BALE WRAP THEN MOVE ON TO THE NEXT FIELD I HAVE BEEN DOING THIS SINCE THE 50'S i USED TO FEED MY DAIRY HERD OF 200 WHEN I MADE MILK
We're working with one of the allis chalmers clubs to maybe release some of them on DVD it kinda got sidetracked with everything that happened this year, stay tuned for more info.
It would seem the farmers would have needed some days reserve for rainy days. I think cutting the pasture grass would have been impossible on rainy days.
Since the voiceover guy was probably from a very different part of the country, it's understandable that he said "wah-con-uh" instead of "wah-CONE-yuh," but why did he leave out the 'i'?
Wonderful video, thank you for sharing!👏💯
A balance of green chopping and pasture at a small scale would have been so much better than today's 10,000 cow dairies. Great video!!
Nice watching these old video's thank you.
Another great Classic Allis film..

Thanks for sharing! That makes sense that's why today more framers are chopping lots of their crops to make it easier for the animals to digest it.
Thank you

Very fine 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
At the 9:52 mark that must be the first self unloading wagon. Very revolutionary for its time. I wonder what brand it is?

I’d like to hear input from other farmers and their thoughts on the matter. Always willing to learn from others.

Farming sure has gone to a bigger scale .. A WD-45 sure could do a lot more work than a Team of Horses..
anyone else see the bull??
I sure did see him.
Yup seen the ring in nose
Must be batting clean up in the dry cow pasture
I saw this comment and that’s all I looked for. Then I laughed when I saw him. Thank you old Dave.
Does anyone know the name of the black unloading wagon? Thanks
Does J& l have a website for ordering videos/I have old VHS Allis Chalmers videos like this and want to buy more.
