Good reminder to clean the bobbin area! It's amazing how much lint gets in there. After I get out the big pieces of lint I use a small rechargeable vacuum that picks up the little pieces.
Oops used canned air before reading your post...Hope I am ok. You do a great job on explaining, thank you so much. I am having a blast with my machine it makes my heart sing. I started sewing again after I lost my youngest son to delta variant. It brings a smile to my face and lots of healing has been done on the machine. And finding your website has also helped in many ways......
I'm so sorry to hear about your son. I can't imagine how hard that is, but glad to hear that sewing is helping you. You are probably o.k. using the canned air. I have had other people tell me they use it all the time without any trouble, but the manufacturers don't recommend it.
Thank you for showing this, until now I didn’t realize I was putting oil in the wrong ring on the bobbin bottom. I use a thin makeup brush to get into the nooks and crannies, along with a pipe cleaner.
I was told not to remove thread from the sewing machine by pulling it back through towards the spool. Always cut the thread from the spool and then pull through the tension area towards the needle. Apparently you can affect the upper tension mechanism by pulling it back towards the spool. I hope I have explained this correctly.
Pipe cleaner folded in half makes a great cleaning tool as well. Love your videos!!! You are so gracious to share with us all. Thank you!!!
Great tip!

Thanks Susan for another helpful video

If it’s not a drop in system I find it very hard to get the casing in, it’s in two parts and trying to align them is very difficult.
What is the metal piece called that holds the bobbin casing?
I'm not certain what piece you are asking about, but it is probably either the bobbin case or the hook assembly.

I've heard that too, but I think it's more of a trend. I've been pulling my thread the same way for over 40 years and have never had a problem.
It always surprises me just how much dust gets into the feed dogs..almost like compressed felt!
