    When your viewers ask, ''Is the paint expensive?", your reply takes up time from other viewers; that question takes a long time to answer for that individual particularly, because 'it all depends' . The best thing for viewer to do, and obviously they have access to the internet, is look it up. Depends on :brand, quality, store, country and much more! I'm sorry if I sound belligerent! Please don't block me, I am learning so, so much from watching your videos even though I've been painting as a hobby for decades, but learning from you is on top of my list of youtube teachers. Yesterday I bought 30 small canvases with plans to do at least one (of your paintings) per day! Thanks so much, Gebahi!

    You are NOT frying my brain, LOL! This is exactly what I was looking for. I am about to take my first acrylics class. I have been doing watercolors for years but want to learn about this medium. Thanks for the educational video. I have learned soooo much, even tips that will help me with my watercolors. And to answer the question of expense, as a beginner, initially it seems like a lot just to bring in the basic supplies, but as with all my watercolor supplies, the expense is the same except you are not buying everything all at once, just when you run out of one thing. I really am going to watch this and take serious notes. So much information here.

      Thank you Claudia!! Since you e done watercolor it should be an easy transition into acrylics and use almost the same techniques in building up the layers!! And you’ll be able to control the water on your brush just as easily!

    I just happened to find this video and decided to check it out while I was making my morning coffee. GREAT CLASS. Love the layering. Love the loose style. I am hoping I can translate some of your class to my paintings of the New Mexico landscape. You know, I've been watching art instruction videos online during the last few months, since I have returned to painting after a LONG hiatus and have decided to work with acrylics. I painted with oils when I was younger, but I had more time then! I'm old and I've got to hurry, I went to watercolors, which were fun and bright and spontaneous, but it isn't a longlasting medium, and the matting and framing is so complicated and expensive, I had a desire to go BACK to the oils. But oils take forever to dry, so I've switched to acrylic and also acrylic gouache, because I like the "drier" look of the gouache. I DO like the more transparent acrylics and I love working in layers, which I actually used to do with watercolors, in some of my works. SO - your instruction is ideal for me, especially since your painting style is very much like mine AND I am currently working on a series of landscapes, emphasizing the New Mexico sky. The clouds are incredibly difficult to capture. I'm going to take some tips from you and see if I can capture these remarkable skies. I've subscribed and liked and I hope that you are still producing these videos for a good long time to come. I've got lots to learn before I die. P.S. Please tell your wife that I am quite sure she could have found another time to vacuum without ruining your video. Seems passive aggressive, to me. Does she not take your art seriously? That's a mistake. Sorry if I'm being rude. The sound of the vacuum really irritated me.

    • @GebahiArtworks
      @GebahiArtworks  Год назад

      I totally appreciate your complements, thank you!! I get what you’re saying, and believe me when I say I took the same route. I tried watercolors and loved how it looked but hated that it wasn’t permanent and needs special care when framing, so I tired gouache, which I like actually and have a couple lessons on the subject, but also needs special attention in order to frame! Acrylic can mimic both mediums and is permanent, so it was a win-win. Now I go back and forth with oils, which is the medium I started with, and it all depends on my mood and size of the piece. I initially didn’t like acrylics at at all but learned online from a few acrylic painters earlier on and learned to master it, and it became my dominant medium! It’s convenient in many ways and there are no rules to follow, it’s the Honey Badger of the mediums. I hope you stuck to it cause I will have more videos coming and I’ll have a zoom class with up to 10 people where you can interact with me and ask questions as you and I paint or if you just want to watch along and take notes! Stay tuned!! Thank you very much for your support!!

      You can find Indian Yellow at Michaels in the Liquitex line. Also you can try Amazon. Indian Yellow is transparent so I prefer the heavy body paint. Cad Yellow dark is very similar but if titanium white is mixed with Indian Yellow it's more intense than Cad Yellow mixed with titanium white. You should be fine with Cadmium Yellow Deep, though.

    This is the first time I've seen your channel. I really truly enjoyed your instruction and watching how you're laying those colors in I've had such a hard time with watercolor and I don't have enough room to be able to paint oil I think I will try acrylics. I really like your technique and one thing I finally got is that you have to go in layers and you have to go quickly and in acrylics you have the option of changing if something isn't right whereas in watercolors I wasn't able to paint transparently enough. Thank you I will join your channel.

    I would love to see you paint a Florida marsh. Your method of layering would be interesting to see. There was a touch of a marshy look to this landscape, but without the still water in the grasses. The marshes themselves are beautiful and the birds that hang in the marsh are wonderful. I'm recently using oils again after quite a long time with watercolor and pastel and your acrylics translate well to oil. So informative.

    Great job I like the way you could the landscape with light layers and varying tones. I sometimes do my background with all greys and I find it makes it easy to find your oddities that your conscience mind doesn't see.

    This was an excellent tutorial. And it is in Florida! Im just starting in acrylics after spending time painting watercolor. I’m attempting to paint plein air here in Florida and this will help. I like your style and hope to paint like you…eventually.
