- Due to only having 7 days on the Bridgewater Canal I now need to get off it. I continue my cruise onwards to Dutton heading through Preston Brook Tunnel and back onto Canal River Trust waters . During this cruise I make a quick pitstop to Midland Chandlers to stock up on some supplies and take part in a little boat crash! Luckily not much damage was done and some 'experts' do say when narrowboats crash it's a contact sport - The joys of boating.

We've worked out what happened when you had the canal boat kiss with that other boat. The guy leaving the tunnel was already flustered because he was a bit late, his wife was probably telling him off for chancing it and then, lo and behold, he came out of the darkness into the light and was dazzled by the sight of your muff coming towards him! No wonder he couldn't steer properly poor bloke, he's only human after all! 😘 Big hugs, Barbs & Crew xxx

Fiddling with your muff? In daylight? Well i never. Yeah, well whatever works best so you do not strand yourself. I suppose stealing diesel from boats was innevitable, the oiks steal diesel/petrol from where ever they can, i'd hold their hands under the prop if i ever caught them. Take care and keep that radiant smile, cheers me up every time i see it. As to the wild garlic (Ramsons), years ago we "borrowed", some, took it home in the boot of the car, which stank for weeks, but no flies,and now have it growing under all my hedges and on the margins, use it regularly for cooking/ freezing.

First, what an idiot coming through the tunnel late and colliding with you. Second, I’d keep filming and if people don’t want to see Anderton again then they can skip over it. I was born in Manchester and grew up in Oldham so it’s really nice to see a Northerner travelling along the northern canals. Makes a really nice change from other vloggers who cover other parts of the network. Happy sailing!

I cruised from 1998 until 2016 and you are obviously travelling a lot of the canals I travelled with my late wife. Your vlogs bring back so many memories of our time boating, so please keep videoing. I personally don’t mind seeing the same canal multiple times. As you said, the seasons change and you can be going in a different direction, which changes the view. Film where ever you are going, and I will gladly watch! Anyone who wants only new views can watch or not watch as they please.

What you need to do, is paint your water filler red and mark it Diesel. With your Diesel filler, paint it what ever the colour thecwater filler is. That way anyone stealing Diesel will be stealing water..

If it makes you feel any better, chances are that the boat that hit you (cos you were on the correct side) was using reverse to slow down (to minimise the damage???), and of course you lose all steering when you do that, and the front (sorry, bow) automatically points where it shouldn't.

Me again! I've got a question for you about how you do tunnels (wahey!) - as in steering. Do you look down the side of the boat or down the centre to stay in the middle?
Also I'm a fan of kicking the stern out and reversing from a mooring (gets the prop into deeper water) - skillz! 👍

Was it a hire boat that hit you? If so I would be contacting the hire boat company. I am going to be going back over the same ground soon, as I have turned around. Not only different seasons, but only small parts are filmed, so it is easy to film different things each time

@@TheNarrowboatPirate I cannot get the camera to download to my laptop of my phone. I do not have any iproducts by choice. The camera appears that it was manufactured for iproducts and other products are a bit of an add on that don't work.
I am waiting to hear back from the manufacturer, and it looks like it is going to be a long wait.
