From a purely practical POV, mixing the rum with the coffee will cause the rum to heat up and the alcohol to start evaporating, thereby wasting alcohol. You are doing the sensible, practical, and frugal thing by drinking the rum straight :)

Hi, watching you washing your sides, there’s sort of a new thing called a Worx hydroshot pressure washer. Battery powered jet wash that can suck up water and spray it. Could dip the end in the canal and spray the boat.
No wonder you need to wee so often after drinking all that coffee and rum. Do you plan your cruise by picking out all the 'narrows' so you can pop to the loo to empty your tank? Great seeing Jax and little Pudding, bless.
I don’t know if like “long” rum drinks as well as a nip of straight rum, but if you do, try your spiced rum with a good ginger beer, here in Oz we call it dark and stormy. Lubbly Jubbly.

Hello Heidi - greetings from Poland With an engine service and a wash and brush up, The Rum Wench looks and sounds smashing. So Spring has started to appear. The daffodils look lovely along the canal bank. Lots of "lovlies" now - lovely cruise, lovely meal, lovely vodka tonic, lovley to see Jax and Pudding again and lovely spiced rum. my first boat was moored at higher Poynton on the towpath side far end from the boatyard near the bridge, I you may or may not believe me but i got stopped by the Police for speeding LOL we had just serviced the outboard motor so we went down the canal away from the old lady that ran the moorings and as we went under the bridge i opened it up to check it was running ok and there was a large wooden Police Launch coming the other way,

A chap I knew years ago, a bookseller, used to run his van on straight vegetable oil from supermarkets. He did so because the van engine was an old mechanical injector design, which could cope with slightly more viscous oils like veg oil. Modern common rail diesels are much more choosy, unfortunately, but an older engine isn't. You might like to see what your engine thinks about diesel with a little vegetable oil mixed in, then if that works what 50/50 diesel/veg oil is like and so on. Expired olive and sunflower oil isn't glamarous, but it is cheap...

Easter will probably be my first weekend just towpath trading depending on weather or where I am … it’s all different now since covid as many events still aren’t running … the main one I’ll be heading for this year is Middlewich Boat and Folk in June I reckon …. It’s a good job I have my little badge business to back up my income thankfully as covid has affected so many events 🏴☠️

Have you tried port and brandy mix 50 50 in a hip flask? It is ideal for cold weather when you are out on the back of your boat.
I do like a good port to be honest but as a Pirate a love a good Rum (and a nice single malt) 😂🏴☠️
