I spent 5 years working offshore drilling in the Arctic. We were near the Pole. There are no trees. The islands are invisible in the winter and there are many of them. We sat on the ice usually 30 feet thick roughly 2000 feet of ocean below. I been to Ray point, Cambridge Bay, pond inlet, resolute. Melville island, Devon Island. Lougheed island. King Christen island. Griese Fjord what an amazing place. Only 60 people on the island. A lot of the islands are empty. The most unique place I've been in my life. If you can you should go. They have a yacht club in Resolute Bay. Test your sailing skills

You must have been working for Panarctic? Were you guys flying on Electras still? I was working in the Beaufort on a rig in the early ‘80s. I thought I was pretty remote but you guys were way further North! It was quite the experience.

Curt /Kurt, I believe is his name, the guy at the start with the 350 bits of kit comes across very well. He's quietly spoken, measured, and intelligent. Seems like a sensible guy with a smile who one could do business with or socialise with. I don't know quite why he struck me so. I live thousands of miles away in a different part of the world, I'll never meet him. But it's good to see people like him around. I wish him well.

Q: How they drive trucks to these places in summer and why drive on frozen lake in winter?
