There were a number of RUclipsrs who reacted to this official video of "Another Life" and were able to play it continuously. When I uploaded the original edit for THIS video, it was blocked for copyright violation. So I had to re-edit and include less of the video footage. We have plenty of great examples to experiment with and analyze, but the video is a bit choppier than my usual flow. :)

Cool man, didn't notice. As always thank you for your showcasing of these different singers & I especially love your inclusion of following the Voice. Love that. And since you have already done Chris Cornell (my favorite singer, thank you so much!)... well what else is there? I suppose if you really want something really challenging? Then how about the late Pete Steele (Type O Negative)? Another great voice... always find that Haloween is a great time of year to remember him, and celebrate his work. Or maybe next year! Thanks again so much.

I love Chris Motionless and have been trying to learn this "switch" from clean to distorted in the voice.
This really helps. Thank You for this video.
You can also check out Cory Wells. Bit of different style with his music but he's a wonderful vocalist/guitarist and has a beautiful blend of clean and distorted sounds. 'Walk Away' or 'End of a Good Thing' are some of his best ones.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

It's so interisting how each stayle has It's own elements for vocals... Not much of a fan of this in particular, but the resources can be handy to enrich some partes in particular... I think King Diamond is a master of using different resources in his songs. Influenced lots of vocalists even if he doesn't use "proper" extreme vocals... If you ever have some spare time, give his álbum "Them" or "Abigail" a spin, its extreamly amazing vocal and composition wise.

Hey Chris, I've always wondered how to do this fun whistly (and seemingly coming from gradual cord closure from a whisper, especially noticeable when a word starts with "H") sound you do at 14:37. A lot of people seem to be able to do it effortlessly on command whenever they want and it adds some nice color to overall sound. However, I struggle getting this one down. I also might have overlooked an explanation in one of your videos..
Conor Mason from Nothing But Thieves seems to use this 'coloration' a lot (maybe an idea for a video?)

Is nick drake on your list? I know he isn't the most "in your face" but he is distinct and interesting to listen too

Is there a way to this kind of roasting of the notes while switching to clean vocals, I am having trouble capturing the essence of the more gritty higher parts, and I've been trying to pick it apart to get a better idea on how to do this vocally, but I find I'm struggling with it and transition to a more violent breathy voice when I attempt it.

Hello Chris, really good explanation. I have a question, while doing the "fall apart" thing or generally while singing, how loud is too loud? I've realised the louder i get the greater is my range but i don't want to go too loud and ruin my larynx...Would love some advice on this.

The only gauge you have for "too loud" is "uncomfortable". If you can get really loud and it feels ok... GREAT, but if you start feeling taxed, hoarse or like you're going to cough, you're either too loud, or doing it too low in your voice box!
