My hope is that there's no time travel in this new saga. What makes this saga special is its emphasis on tragic character flaws amid a realistic plot progression.

Absolutely! The high fantasy elements of the original series served that series well but now seems out of place in the new series. This new movie, kingdom, looks like they are going for a by the numbers, children's adventure movie. Not a fan

I agree. I don't see anything wrong with them progressing the apes evolution to the point they are technologically advanced because thats still grounded and plausible . Monkeys discovering time travel however just doesn't sit right with me haha.

I think the fantasy of the original is just a ploy to make the world happen. Now, it doesn't need that considering the trilogy before kingdom that shows how humanity falls and how apes rise.

  • @haimay5767
    @haimay5767 4 месяца назад +29

I have a theory that the humans that they contacted are actually Mutated humans. So maybe the next movie will show the divide within the normal humans and those who mutated. Rather than humans fighting with apes, itll be the humans and mutant humans. Which can also lead to how in the original Planet of the Apes, humans destroyed eachother. Perhaps Mae's humans dont see the mutated humans as humans anymore.
This can also lead to some apes interacting with the mutants and gaining knowledge. Noa definitely showed interest in human creation and the next movie can perhaps show how humans destroyed eachother while apes build a better society without having to harm any other party.

    • @Spongebrain97
      @Spongebrain97 4 месяца назад +8

That sounds like a neat idea. It could be a throwback to Beneath the Planet of the Apes even if it's not about radiation but still has the presence of mutants. Maybe Mae's group makes contact with the other and it turns our that they're hostile mutants and so she seeks out Noa for help

I think a mutation as simple as them not being affected by the virus would cause the most conflict. Humans want to take for themselves and the non mutated humans naturally would feel threatened and want to experiment on the mutated. Good plot. Also a good way to set up the future of the apes ending up rearing the Mute humans experimenting on them and such

@briana8088 Yeah, quite frankly so am I. After such a long and, arguably well thought out, reboot, I think that's what the material wants. Part of the reason I love Kingdom so much is that it does seem partly a throwback to a more optimistic brand of story, mainly through the character of Noa. And as for me personally, the world needs at least a somewhat hopeful and positive story right about now - even as brutal as said story can get at times.

These writers are so good! That’s a very very compelling idea, how the isolated human groups would be wildly different from each other after 100’s of years in isolation. Could be very interesting and the human groups might even clash, which that would be terribly tragic. Even when it comes to survival of the species humanity may not be able to get along. I do think the Planet of the Apes movies should be mainly ape centered. If they bring more humans, they should be compelling enough to be a part of the story like Will, Dreyfus or Malcolm. Mae I'm certainly interested in, flesh her out even more with the next one. I do think there should be a proper War movie because in War PotA I was convinced it was gonna be battle heavy. While I like War, I did wish it to be a human v ape battle movie.
The ending in Kingdom I did like, first thoughts that came to mind was it makes sense, its like the 99.9% hand sanitizer where that 0.1% of germs survives. Also thought that the franchise always had a human element to go back and forth.
To me the movie was a 7.3/10, mainly because I thought certain characters could've been given more depth or time with interactions, its where that emotional investment comes to play. The music I'm a little mixed, on one hand it's familiarity from the og movies and Caesar trilogy I like, on the other I can't tell it's identity or like a common denominator of music theme to stand itself apart. I still like movie for it to be a part of a new PotA trilogy.

People accuse that Mae is the real villain. I don't think so; it depends on the perspective you're considering, humans or apes. Literally, Mae could just take a badass assault rifle in the vault and kill every single ape in Proximus's "kingdom" on her way out if she wanted to. Yet, she sticks to the plan of helping Noa free his clan and blowing up the dam to flush down the whole vault for good. Neither humans nor apes should own the weaponry in that vault. One more thing to notice is that she really tried to convince Trevathan at first and felt very terrible when she had to choke him to death, which makes her actions the most humane ever. With a vault like that, she or her people could aim to get a nuke more than just a satellite drive. They really aim to rebuild human civilization rather than repeat human mistakes again. Proximus was obsessed with Roman history; if he got all the weapons he needed, he would soon enslave all other clans and start a genocide of every human left on Earth and any ape clans that didn't bend their knee. This seems no better than humans. In the last scene, Mae's people still have to use biohazard suits and need to disinfect after coming back in, which means humans, after all these years, still cannot have immunity to the virus. But Mae and Trevathan can go outside without needing one, so I think they both have immunity and are not affected like the colonel in WFTPoTA but still are carriers because they have made close contact with other "echoes". So Mae was on a mission that, even if successful, she could never return to her vault again. By the way, can satellites still work on their own without human control for decades without de-orbiting themselves?

The more time passes, the more I can't shake the feeling of disappointment with the creative direction that comes with that ending.
I loved the movie, but I kind of...really dislike the direction we seem to be going here. I don't want another humans vs apes movie, we just had that in the past trilogy.
The possibilities that the ending opens is not that interesting to me.
Not to say I won't be hyped for the next movie, because I think Owen Teague as Noa and how he was portrayed and written in Kingdom was phenomenal.
But I was hoping for more Ape vs Ape rather than Ape vs Human again and the themes linked with that.
I feel bad feeling disappointed with it too, I shouldn't ofc. But man, I can't help but just feel disappointed with the creative direction the writers are taking this.
It should be imo at that point right where it truly is a planet of apes.
Still excited for the next movie, no doubt when a teaser trailer drops in two or three years I will go crazy for it.
I just, don't kinda care for the humans in this 4th 5th and 6th. I don't think it needs humans much at all in this next movie. But it is what it is.

I loved it. War too. I just... don't want to see it again in this trilogy when we just explored that.
It should for me focus on the apes and how it has become their planet.
I don't want another movie talking on can apes and humans co exist, I don't think we needed this many smart humans still alive. I would've much rather had Proximus been prominent even more and more dialogue with him, instead of the ending we got. @@WERV2003

In the Beneath movie, the nuclear bomb was left over from usa military base.
What would happen to all those nuclear warhead silos?
The bunkers of humans, some of them could be like Apple's Silo or Fallout.
Maybe one of the Silos, humans evolve and mutate to get mental powers. With them wearing gas masks all the time, the gas mask is their normal face, bit they reveal their inward face to their god.

Watched it today (Ik, I’m late) and felt a bit “meh” at the ending with the humans in the building.
I feel the next film is going to go in one direction, and that’s a cross between Dawn and War.
1 - Noahs group will come into contact with them, decide to leave them alone but the humans get scared and attack, leading the third film to be war again.
    Or
2 - the humans will contact others, they’ll meet and a war will happen.
Nothing is wrong with either of those, my issues is if it happens then it’s far too soon, would prefer it to be later.
There’s 9 film this time round right, if I’m not mistaken? If so, then this ending and it’s consequences should be the 6th or 7th.
I’m kinda hoping the next is about the group(s) all becoming more civilised and all given roles like the OG movies from the 60s, but only in the early stages, kinda like how Maurice was teaching the kids in Dawn, just complete basic learning about Caesar and the world.

Honestly, I think they need to lean more into the human side, if they want the humans to be a credible threat and opponents for the apes. I loved the reveal about the humans in the end, and I am so curious about them, especially as they will most likely be a threat of sorts. What I wonder about is, why humans lingered in the climate zones where Apes can thrive and did not migrate to zones where Apes would have more problems. Colder regions and so forth. Overall I think they need to build up these humans, if they are to be serious contenders or serious danger. I'd love to see a twist somewhere and Noah realising that Proximus was right, that they need to study the human secrets and that Noah harmed his people by allowing the contents of the vault being destroyed.

I didn't know your channel existed. Very Cool! On the subject: I would rather have seen May's group be less tech-ish and maybe living more like a in a medieval-style town, or an old west town at this point. The tech just makes it too close to our own reality -- kinda boring. The further the series gets away from tech, the better that moment will be when an astronaut arrives -- IF that is going to happen.

I disagree that the APES alone are the big strength of the series. I think the strength of the series is that both Apes and humans exist in this world, and the fact that they are at odds with each other, and the tensions and dynamics between the 2 species, and the story-lines that result from those things, and the differences between humans and ape culture/society
. In the original movie the audiences were not team Ape. They were team Taylor (Charlton Heston).
Then over the course of the franchise it turned more towards Team Ape.
It is important that Humans remain a substantial part of this franchise (Imo). If humans disappear from this franchise and it just becomes all about Apes who act like humans, then it basically becomes a story about watching humans wearing Ape costumes.

So, I made a similar comment to this on one of your other videos, and I think the timeline for it has been expedited to this trilogy instead of the next one. I think this trilogy needs to go full send on the Star Wars and religious vibes first off. In the next movie I think it would be great to see a city of human and apes living side by side, having figured out how to coexist and trying to spread their message to the world by reaching out to clans like Noas. This could also be an origin for Proximus (have him having been a part of this sect and living with humans when he was younger before becoming an extremist and wanting to create a kingdom for himself) and the Order of Caesar by having the Order include humans and apes alike who revere Caesar in the same vein as Jesus, Mohammed or Moses. The leader of this sect should be a human that can play off of Noa as almost a co-protagonist, kind of a Ragnar Lothbrok to Athelstan sort of dynamic for an example to anyone who’s watched the series Vikings. You can have this story slowly building this idea of apes and humans living together, only for it to be torn away in the end when Mae’s and the other sects of humans attack, wanting to wipe out apes and their allies in a dark echo of the Colonel from Wars philosophy. That battle could be something unlike anything Apes has ever done before, interlace gunfire with hand to hand combat, apes fighting in classical military formations, ships burning by some reinvention of Greek fire, the possibilities are endless! It’s been 300 years, even if humans have survived it’s unlikely all of our technology has or that they would be using guns to the same level we are, so you can really play with a ton of different weapon types, all kinds of different combat methods, and have it end with Mae betraying her sect of humans and Noa taking the lead of this human-ape alliance for the end of this trilogy. Just my thoughts on how it should go, anyone and everyone feel free to comment on this and let me know what you think!

In the big picture humans are gonna be defeated real hard. Since they are heading towards the OG movie plot. They have to show apes evolving into technology. But regular discovery of tech would be boring to show. So apes will speedrun and learn about tech to defeat humans. And wipe them outta existence for once and all. So in this way the 1st trio is stone age. 2nd medivial. 3rd Cili vised and the retelling of the OG or else Cornelius' triology.

To be honest, I would’ve been fine with everything but the little radio call at the end was preposterous. I absolutely hated how within a matter of seconds from pressing the transmit button someone in Fort Wayne, Indiana was ready on the draw to answer. That was really stupid and should’ve been left out. I thought it was similar enough to the original movie with having many humans being unable to communicate and unintelligent therefore they were dominated by the apes who chose to exploit their superiority and then the twist to having uneffected(by the virus) humans who were pursuing technological means yet staying hidden for now was very interesting. Where they go with this isn’t concerning to me as I trust they’ll be creative enough to not duplicate what’s already been done. The one thing I keep thinking would be creative would be humans begin to interact with apes and showing how we’ve made so many mistakes in the course of human evolution which we see familiarity with the apes and having humans warning apes that the same will happen if they don’t slow down. Where this goes is obviously the more exciting part of a new story. They ought to add in the element of the astronauts who were missing in the Rise movie. That would add a solid twist but now seems that everyone expects it.
