Frank was on Elavil, prescribed for anxiety and depression. The less he took, the better his memory, the better his performance. Barbara was in charge, and gave him plenty to control him. In all fairness, he was often difficult... an understatement. The last day of his life, she was out to dinner with a friend for the fourth time that week. Seeing Barbara on the way out, Frank said, "You still live here?"
Saw him also during this engagement. Was friends with Frank Jr. here in Vegas and he invited me and my date to be “special guests” of Mr. Sinatra.. imagine how thrilling it was to be escorted right down to front row center. Frank was literally 4 feet away from me.. I’ll never forget it. They introduced him simply by saying ..”ladies and gentlemen, ‘ol’ blue eyes!”
Wow. Love it. Thanks for posting. My dad took me to see Frank during this engagement at the Desert Inn back in '93 when I was 16. I was, and still am, an enormous Sinatra fan. Getting to see him live in concert will always be a huge lifetime highlight.
his voice was still powerful. and his fluent speaking and jokes didn't predict his retirement nearby. next year,December,he performed in Japan. it was his last official concert, which he forgot almost lyrics!
