I have just published my new venture…The Retire in Thailand Magazine. As the name suggests it is a lifestyle magazine for the young at heart. The magazine is aimed at retirees or future retirees who are looking for more in their retirement than their home countries can offer them. Because I retired to Thailand the main focus of the magazine will be on Thailand, although every month the magazine will feature other great retirement locations from around the world. Every month the magazine will recap the top stories and events that happened in Thailand the previous month as well as any news that will impact expat retirees who live or plan to live in Thailand. The magazine will also detail Thai currency fluctuations for the previous month with other Western currencies, cost of living comparisons between Thailand and other Western countries, weather charts for the coming months, Buddhist holidays or festivals for that month, ex-pat interviews, Thai cooking recipes and much more. The magazine will be available through my new website for just $2.99. My books will also be available to buy through my website discounted from the online stores where the books are also on sale. So, follow the link to the website and take a look around.

@@nunchuck7341 I believe that you can apply up to 45 days before it expires. But be careful I have heard where they renew the visa before the expiry but date it from when you applied. So if in your case it expires on 20th December and you apply on say the 20th of November they may renew it from the 20th of November meaning the following year it will expire on 20th November. It's never black and white unfortunately it often depends on the immigration officer you see and their interpretation of the rules. Best check directory with immigration to find out the protocol

    Hi Gerald
Hopefully my wife and I will be moving to hau hin on an a retirement visa next year,
Could you please tell me is the process of transferring the 800,000 bhat into a thai bank account for the first time difficult in anyway?
aswell as the process opening a bank etc or would you recommend paying the extra cost to a visa company?
    Kindest regards
    Keith

Hi Keith. My book The Retire in Thailand Handbook 2023 (The Next Six Years) covers everything that you need to know about retiring to Thailand including how to open a Thai bank account as Thailand being Thailand it is not always straightforward with some banks having different criteria when it comes to foreign retirees opening a Thai bank account. There is so much information in the book as when I retired here seven years ago, I made so many mistakes that cost me a lot of time and money which was the reason that I wrote the book for people like yourself to avoid the same problems and pitfalls that I had moving to Thailand.
I have also started a monthly magazine The Retire in Thailand Magazine that will be filled with interesting articles on living your life in Thailand, the first magazine was released on the 1st of August and the next edition will be out next week on the 1st of September. I have put a link below to my website where you can see my books and also the magazine. On the website, there are some specials where you can buy two ebooks at a discount.
Good luck with your move to Thailand from what I see of the world in the West I think that you're making a good decision, as I did in 2017 when I made the move.
      Safe travels
      Cheers

Hi Keith. Just a quick question. I started an online magazine dedicated to retirees who have already retired or are considering retiring in Thailand. Each month I will interview an expat who is currently living overseas to find out why they are thinking of retiring to Thailand in the future. If you would like to take part, I will send you a set Q&A for you to fill in and email back to me along with a photo of yourself. The questions are quite straightforward but if there were any questions that you didn’t want to answer you can just skip those. I know that many people value their privacy so if you don’t want to be in the magazine that’s ok. You can contact me through my website email address below if you want to be interviewed.
      Cheers
