Another great video. Liked the ending a lot. See you working on the Skag. Good mower. Just so you know, I'm an auto tech and have an independent auto service and repair shop over here in Ga. If you ever need any help in the automotive (or equipment) field, maybe I could return some of the advise you've given me with the bees. I'm just learning beekeeping but I already know how to extract half a million miles out of a Chevy truck!
+Billy Harrison LOL! So if a customer comes in with a bee problem in their car you know just how to tackle it. I'll take you up on the advice offer right now. 06 F150 (5.4 4x4) torque converter seems to be failing. It's jerking really bad at certain load ranges but not any particular rpm or speed. Is it going to require replacement or is there some other electronic part causing it to fail?
+628DirtRooster A few questions: Do you have a check engine light? Is the jerking in OD or other gear ranges also? Are you reasonably sure it's a tranny/converter issue and not a misfire? If you put it in drive, hold the brake and put it under load does it do anything unusual? How many miles on tranny and how many since a service? Now, if you believe it's the converter, go to the parts house and get a pint of a good brand of friction modifier and add to the tranny nd drive it for 20-25 miles and see if the sympton changes.
+628DirtRooster To add to my reply a few minutes ago and to answer you original question, the only electronic part of a 4R70E or 4R75E that effects the transmission torque converter is the torque converter lock-up which doesn't come into play until you are at cruising speed in OD. The lock-up is controlled by a hydraulic pressure control solenoid that is located inside the tranny case. If you have a lock-up issue the symptom would only be in OD as the torque converter tried to go into lock-up which in effect gives you an extra "gear" above OD and it is typically a shutter that lasts a few seconds until the lock-up is engaged. Torque converters contain a group of clutches that operate on pressure and they do fail but it is not common.
Billy Harrison I think it's going on when the converter is trying to lock up but it will do it in 3rd or overdrive. Probably the lowest speed it will do it is 40 or so. If i hit the tow/haul button to keep it out of over drive it will still do it but not as easily. The truck has 235,00 miles and the original trans. I don't know when it was serviced last but the fluid looks good (not burned and looks clean). It had about 160,000 miles when I got it. The check engine light just started coming on but it's for a catalytic converter flow issue. No dead miss. The transmission works fine otherwise. I guess I'll try servicing it.

Nope. Bees are not nearly as aggressive as many people think. I work my hives without even a veil or gloves and very rarely get stung. Of course, I do not work them in marginal weather conditions or during late evenings.
I was just thinking about that couple days ago giving your location have you ever gone to removal only to find Africanized bees and in those cases what is your call go through with removal or call in a friend can you enter do some non Africanized Queen and return them to the humble State they should be
That's awesome thanks for letting me know and anyone else is reading this that would be interesting though bear versus killer hive Bears thick fur bees thick swarms I wonder who would win thanks for sharing your videos they're quite educational and I love them
Wow. LOT of scenting behavior in that hive. Butts in the air, abdomen cracked open and BUZZZZZZ! They were ready to light you up! I noticed that you were being extra slow and methodical towards the end. So how do you de-Africanize the hive? Re-queen it?
Hey Randy have you ever come across while catching swarms or whatever a true Africanized Colony? I have been watching videos on them the last couple days and talk about something making you need to change your shorts. The whole hive let's loose and jumped on these guys and even they were calm and walking away they chased them well past the 1/4 mile marked that they used to say was the limit they would chase.
I'm surprised you don't have more encounters with Africanized bees, considering you live the the South. I watch videos of beekeepers trying to deal with them in Arizona, it's unbelievable how defensive they are.
628DirtRooster Bees I don’t believe we have them in my part of FL either. Pretty sure there are hives of them in South FL, but not up here in the Panhandle. Interesting how they’re only in certain states and certain parts of certain states. I was in your neck of the woods for a couple weeks several years ago (was living in Meridian MS back then) when Hurricane Isaac hit (and stalled), I recognize some areas in some of your videos.
i know this is on a old video but ive been going through and watching your videos. I wonder if you scythe the area around the bees if the still would get annoyed.

I work my hives without even a veil or gloves and very rarely get stung. Of course, I do not work them in marginal weather conditions or during late evenings.
tons of smoke!
Too much smoke, the idea is to calm them, not get them into a frenzied panic.
I was just thinking about that couple days ago giving your location have you ever gone to removal only to find Africanized bees and in those cases what is your call go through with removal or call in a friend can you enter do some non Africanized Queen and return them to the humble State they should be
We don’t have them in our area. They are very difficult to requeen with other more gentle genetics.
That's awesome thanks for letting me know and anyone else is reading this that would be interesting though bear versus killer hive Bears thick fur bees thick swarms I wonder who would win thanks for sharing your videos they're quite educational and I love them
Bee King..No Doubt bruh!
Thanks George
Thankfully we don't have them here.
Back when that smoker was new...lol.

I'm surprised you don't have more encounters with Africanized bees, considering you live the the South. I watch videos of beekeepers trying to deal with them in Arizona, it's unbelievable how defensive they are.
Thankful they aren’t here.
628DirtRooster Bees I don’t believe we have them in my part of FL either. Pretty sure there are hives of them in South FL, but not up here in the Panhandle. Interesting how they’re only in certain states and certain parts of certain states. I was in your neck of the woods for a couple weeks several years ago (was living in Meridian MS back then) when Hurricane Isaac hit (and stalled), I recognize some areas in some of your videos.
hey when you finish that lawnmower can you come work on mine. Ill buy you a few monsters
Yo
i know this is on a old video but ive been going through and watching your videos. I wonder if you scythe the area around the bees if the still would get annoyed.
You would draw their attention with fast movements. I just throw a jacket on and run a weed eater around them real quick.
