The year sure is starting out easy with the likes of the bees in the basement job. Not sure if that's a sign but we haven't had a difficult hive removal yet and all the bees have been very docile so far. I hope it continues like this. We are at three hive removals and one swarm for the season and have been mite testing everything. No real surprises yet other than some of my suspicions are being proven correct. I hate to drag this out in secrecy but I don't want to give my thoughts like they are fact based on so few samples. I will say that both farther north feral bee colonies we removed had at least some mites (light load) but the more southern hive and swarm had no detectable varroa. A light mite load is expected coming out of winter anyway due to brood breaks.
Stay tuned for lots more videos.

That was a nice cut-out. Thanks! Your choice of music was the best too!
How could anyone vote thumbs down on any of "The DirtRoosters" videos? Excellent content sir! Keep em coming!
preacher biggin probably the loony vegans who think it's wrong and "exploitation" to keep bees in nice wholesome hives where we can protect them from parasites and disease, and think hives like this should be transferred to a hollow tree to live in the wild as nature intended. 🙄
Keep up the good work! From the uk! Never really had an interest in bees, but can’t stop watching your videos🤔😂great channel 👍🏻
Same.
Long reach on that last one. lol. Nice removal. Cool editing and music. 👍👍🐝🐝
And it only took ten hours to edit. lol
I'm active duty military in Georgia, but thinking I might want to get into bees when I get out, maybe see if I can tag along on some removals around here. But I've been watching you, Mr. Ed, and JP, you guys have some fun...
Awesome thank you
I like the music he plays while vacuuming bees.
Very nicely shot and edited video Randy. I really like the camera perspective and overall feel of the video due to your music selection and timing of it's use. Well done good Sir!
Is that the new version of the Mr. Roger's " Won't you bee my neighbor" song you used while you were removing the comb? I was totally expecting to have him show up and do your into for you after it was over. I sure wish I could get some of those easy removals like you get. Heck, you did not even have problems getting those water melon hands in the space to grab the comb. Great job buddy, and another great video. God's peace brother.
Boy are you ever out of touch. Mr Rogers is dead.
I'm glad to finally be getting some easy ones. Last year was a killer.
@@628DirtRooster Yeah, those 120 stings from last time should've been your ration for the year.
I love me some bees and the 628DirtRooster channel where bees hobby bee keeping is a way of life...
With all those bees running above that rotten joist, I thought for sure you were going to end up opening the other cavity 😇
I love doing a removal when they are in the process of a remodel.
That is an IMPRESSIVE brood pattern!
Great job, have a good season, looks like you'll be busy!
I really enjoyed watching this cutout. It was nice to watch the entire cutout even through a timelapse. I hope to see removals like this more and more.
Those are by far, the calmest bees in a removal I have seen. Very lucky.
First capped drone brood of the season, thanks Randy!
Your videos are the BEST!! Music when appropriate ( awesome music at that)
We can hear you talk and the bees buz some times birds singing, @others , flower tour and terrain. Also learn something every time!!
Thank you for showing us the flowers DirtRooster. Some of the comb was exquisite, where it was lobed. Thank you for sharing and see you soon.
Be safe out there Rooster 🐓 and GOD BLESS you and your family brother Amen 🙏
I love your channel. No matter how bad my day is, watching how calmly you handle bees (and other varieties of bugs) really tapers my anxiety. Thanks for beeing here 🐝
So glad you enjoy them. Thanks for watching.
I really liked this video with the time sped up and the music. Leaves more time for your commentary and seeing the whole job done. GREAT job on the camera angles on this one too! Enjoy your videos always
Thank you Scott.
Time to start that Vacuuming Bees ASMR channel
So far looking like strong hives have low mite counts. Interesting how they survive with no chemical treatment just like nature intended.
"How you want dem bees suh?" Flip'em over easy with a side of hot wings and donuts.
Would you like a sweet tea with that?
@@628DirtRooster
well duh, what else?!
I sure do enjoy your videos Randy. I'm going to try to come down and look up Jeff this summer and maybe.....he'll carry me over your way.....I'll buy you boys a mess of wings and listen to you yank each other's chains.
Love how you and Mr Ed pick at each other. I watch him too. lol
That music was making me laugh...it was like slow jams with the Dirt Rooster lol
Good old Sand Chicken keeping my tuesday off from work interesting. Thanks Randy!
Keep up the good work Rooster .
Thanks for the video Randy! I inspected a couple of my hives on February 22 and there was lots of capped drown brood and a couple hatching out and I’m about 10 miles east of B’ham, AL.
Hay Randy. I always look forward to seeing your shows. Last year you mentioned you would show how yo remedy a vacuum full of sticky bees. Every year I run into a couple of cut- outside that this happens. If you could mention how you could save them it would be greatly appreciated. Kevin from Mass.
Those cut outs are so nice to see. Bees look so cool going in and around the comb!!!
More time lapse cuts with music please! Really love those!
I like the mite checks. As I said before, I'm really interested to see how it trends through the year on cutouts. Especially if you are able to ascertain if the removal is a newer colony near any beekeepers. More feral than others. Going to be interesting. Be cool to track it in Excel and list different variables on what is known of the age, location, size, nearby apiaries, etc. Research gurus track feral vs. apiaries, but cutouts? Doubt it very much.
I'm logging GPS coordinates too. I don't think that has anything to do with anything but I want to map out where testing was done as well as results. That'll help with some of the data I'm looking for.
@@628DirtRooster Hey brother, I'm lookin to do what you do, but nowhere near you so I won't be no competition. Could i shoot you my email or # for some private advice on pricing and whatnot? I would greatly appreciate the guidance
I live in TN and I've thought about starting a small hive here at my home and getting into beekeeping but our winters get very cold and we don't always get snow but we do have snow and nights where the temps fall below freezing and sometimes into the single digits so I've always wondered if they could withstand the temperatures and survive... When I was a kid there were honeybees everywhere here in TN but now I rarely see any honeybees during the summer. I love your videos and you sense of humor/personality and I hope you continue to make them because they always improve my mood when a new video is posted and I can't wait to watch it! Plus love the beeducation lol 💘❣️
Lots of bee keepers in TN
Look at Kamon Renolds channel
I like how you take care of the Bees ,they don’t come after you . You collect honey ,I eat honey 🍯
Now there's a division of labor I like.
Nice job Randy where bees are a part of life. 2nd year and getting there.
Just loved every minute...thank you Randy!!! Well done 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
The young man in this video reminds me of Vince Gill when he was young. Thank you for your videos!
10:38 made me jump back from the screen lol
I always enjoy watching your videos.
Thought of you this past week I got string 25 to 30 times doing a remover and one was on the lip and I was walking around like half of my lip had box top 🤪
Good times!
Another great video of some awesome work by you and the bees. 👍🐝🐝🐝
Beautiful colony - I hope you find that Queen! Great brood pattern! And sweet smelling you say with extremely low mite count. That was a great cutout!!
20:46 -- The flowers are Summer Snowflake (Leucojum vernum var. vernum).
Im so glad you and mr ed are such good friend
That queen in that hive had a pretty pattern she was laying
Great vid as always..nice to see something thats green and growing flowers..here in Minnesota everything is still frozen and brown...much love and respect randy
At least out snowbanks are shrinking. My bees here in MN had a cleansing flight last weekend. It's weird to see bees flying above snowbanks. LOL
i always enjoy your videos.
You ever think about throwing the end of the spatcheler on the belt sander or grinder and sharpening the edge it might make it easier to cut through the comb
Lol I know this sounds dumb but my first thought was “ does your mama know you got her spatula “ roflmao! First you got her bread knife now this. Southern ingenuity!!!!!!!
Marilyn Sears I guess his lady has learnt to work around his depredations in her kitchen. 😂
You always make this look so easy!!! ❤️♥️♥️❤️
Really love these videos, thank you for taking the time to let so many people experience hobby beekeeping! I have started to notice a few beekeepers in my neck of the woods since watching and learning about it from you. Keep on keeping on....
Thanks Laura. We'll keep bringing it.
Thanks Randy. I watch and re-Watch
That Transition was nice!
17:45
Fancy right? lol
Dirt rooster your videos just get better and better, like the music also. Glad you dad is doing well.
Thanks buddy. I sure try.
I find your videos my favorite work buddy. Soothing
Aw, thank you!
Another awesome video and a job well done
Very interesting revival. Nice hive construction.
As I follow you, can I make a suggestion?
I'm always curious about the date of the removal. I noticed, late in the process, you mentioned February 18th.
The date helps me keep score with you and Mr. Ed. 🤗🤗🤗
😎🐝🐝🐝
Jeff was Strutting around like a proud
Male Turkey
He got the first swam
LoL
Nice clean DIGS
That was some world class spatula action!
I really like the music you have in your videos. You're videos are fun and educational. I dont like bees or any insects; but, I'll watch your videos. Lol
Nice smooth removal nice smooth music.
Thanks John
Allright, new video to watch at the gym this afternoon! can't wait!
Keeps your mind off the pain?

Good choice for tunes
Good one rooster!
Remember the three bees with what alls going on including the Virus: "BEE CAREFUL, BEE HEALTHY, BEE HAPPY.:

Nice! 🙌🏽
I love these cut out vids. Can't wait to do one myself. But I'll use some nitride gloves and a bee jacket 🤗
I liked the editing on this video
February 28 I just had my bees swarm here in central Louisiana. Guess me Mr Ed beat me by a couple days. Construction sight bees may have came from a tree that got tore down from job sight what you thin
I am enjoying the music you decide to add your videos soft contemporary easy to listen to goes very well with a hive removal 628 dirt rooster hashtag DJ dirt rooster
good video
Great video Randy! I enjoyed the video of the early spring flowers just as much as the cut out. I don’t know how you reached so far in there to get that comb. Was it not as deep as it looks, or are you hiding extendable arms we don’t know about??? 😊🐝🐝🐝👍
Had to dislocate my shoulder to reach
its alwasy amazing how he can free handle combs with out the bees going bat crap crazy
And today on 628 Dirt Rooster, Randy shows you how easy it is to do a cutout with a common spatula.
😂 😆
628DirtRooster Bees I just got my first set of bee boxes today. So excited to get my first hive.
@@PrestonCovell Soon brother, soon :)
They do seem like pretty tame bee's, maybe they were ready for a move too :)
I did an alcohol wash on my bees yesterday and had 4 mites per 300 bees. I'm planning on treating in a few days.
Smoke em if you got em
@@628DirtRooster DEATH TO MITES!!!! AAAAHHHHHHHH!!!
Really Nice Music Track!
New sub here, was sent over by Linda smith
Randy Oliver claims swirling far better , I always shake and come back in a couple minutes everytime I see mites on bees they've bout reached their threshold before PMS and DWV ..I'm glad you're testing,we have a guy claims our bees resistant, but their not, their just swarming and absconding to leave the problem, I hope you find something really special going on down there and then I hope you reach out to me and sell me one of those Queens
I thought for sure you were going to find more hive on the other side where you said you heard chewing. Especially when I saw the bees looking like they had access to that area. Lol
I love that music...
Hello from Fleming, Ga.
Hi Jessica
Hi Jessica
@@628DirtRooster I absolutely love your vlogs and watching you interacting with everyone. Thank you for sharing your lives with us.
We have them in our basement- wish you were here
At 11:23 the big triangular comb on the left has split and the splits overlapped as they grew. I have seen flat (tabular) reef coral doing that.
That’s a fancy hive removal tool you’ve got there......
You never know when he might want to stop and flip some eggs!
It's defiantly getting the job done ! :D
@@SandraNelson063 Honeycomb or pancake, it's all pretty much the same.
Randy, when did you amp-up your bee-vac with R&B tunes? ;>))
That's only when I run it on low. You should hear it when I turn it up.
Polystyrene ceilings is the craziest firehazard ive ever seen on a 1st world house.
today is March 4th, and my dafodills, are up a half inch , here in Newton , Iowa
Like the music
Mr. Ed will probably buy it and use it as a new swarm collection property.
You and Mr. Ed just know when yall are on a job somewhere ND mR. wATERMELON hANDS STRIKES AGAIN! I HATE caps locks. DAffydills up about 8 inches here but no blooms. Maple bud clusters almost dime size and multiflora roses putting on leaves but the semi-lying weather man says more snow directly BUT spring is going to come whether he likes it or not. Thanks, Randy and GBWYall!
I must have hauled a half million pounds of hardwood plywood out of Laurel. Always stopped in Hot Coffee, MS for some pulled pork to bring home to momma and the kids.
I haven't been through Hot Coffee in many years.
@@628DirtRooster It's been better than ten years for me.
Removed foam fake acoustic tiles: uncovered beehive and asbestos-laden popcorn ceiling texture.
Randy as always awesome video. But you forget to say how many stings did you took. :)
It was about eight or ten I think
Well, you did it again...It looks so easy when you do it. I tried that one time and had to run for my life.. Hell No.. See Ya Texas.. I rang the bell ?
Guess you check to see if you scooped up the queens before you do an alcohol wash.

So, you shot a flare at a beehive to find it. I can see that working. Owch! XD (Yes, I know it's an IR camera.)
