Hi Muk it’s Skar from SC! I maintain this build on site, and the staff+daggers rotation is my brain child. Build breakdown: spot on Simplification: well reasoned Boon discussion: accurate Gameplay demo: perfect and succinct Can’t overstate how great this video is. Informative for everyone and a treat for me personally.
Your writing is awesome and very clear, you make a pretty daunting class seem very digestible. Glad Muk highlighted your build I've enjoyed it for a whiles 😄
Hey Muk I'm one of the team who writes the beginenr guides on snowcrows. If you wanna lern the next build you might considere reading the beginenr guides. They are basically the full guide but seperated in steps for easier learning, if the guide already exists. The team is working on some builds but it takes a while so I hope we can push some more boon related builds soon :)
I'll definitely keep an eye out for them. In the case of this video I searched for "quick" in the thief section and there was only one option, so I went with that.
Hey there, that's me on TV, Mom! [Mashavindra] Great and quick review, Muk! I believe the Quickness Deadeye is a fun build, but it has some limitations. It struggles to maintain uptime in certain situations, has zero AoE damage so cleave is not effective, and its ranged damage is hindered when used with a Rifle, which restricts movement and makes it challenging to deal with dynamic and moving bosses. The Thief utility skills are limited in serving useful functions for the party, such as pulling or pushing ads, and this holds true for the Quickness Deadeye as well. This seems to be a core issue with the Thief utility skills repertoire.
So... I believe the malice barely matters on staff because the stealth attack is a CC, but on daggers you need it to get into stealth with your F2 and you get the bonus damage while backstabbing. Heartseeker actually deals less damage than staff's Weakening Charge (2.5 coefficient with +80 extra power due to Dagger Training vs. 2.52 coefficient with 10% higher weapon strength on the staff) - it's Malicious Backstab's 4.5 coefficient that makes dagger worth using.
It's only important if you want to run Thieves Guild for more DPS then Malicious Hook becomes part of your CC rotation. But yea, in general you want to Dagger loop for dumping Malice.
Hook Strike being poor damage is also why the SC benchmark build swaps over to Dagger-after building up 5 Malice on Staff with Weakening Charge spam, we pass it over to Dagger for a strong Backstab. That rotation is structured to mostly use all "Staff Malice" on Mercy's conversion and a Malicious Backstab, with some "over generated" Malice to accommodate the cooldown on weapon swap without wasting initiative from the Mercy refund.
I prefer the lazy version of this build: Wear pistol/pistol, SET SKILL 3 TO AUTOATTACK. Gear stats: Diviner's and Berserker so that your boon duration is just enough to hit 100%. Relic: Relic of the Thief. Rotation: F1, F2, Mercy, F2, F1, F2, occassionally hitting 3 once to break out of stealth. Prioritize F1-ing weaker adds first if the fight has them. There we have it. You don't have to press any skill for most of a fight because we set skill 3 to autoattack, the rotation is only meant to be done every 24 seconds to refresh group quickness. Sometimes you press 0 for CC phase. This is a 3(+2) button build.
@@gogadantes8699 Assuming only birthday cake as the only buff, 14k-15k for the version that still give non-quickness boons to allies and 20k for the version that only give quickness. The pure dps version of this lazy build is 24k.
i love this build! i feel like the "extra" utility you bring to a squad with this build *is* the increased dps over say a herald or chrono, which can carry almost as much as a res utility in certain groups or situations
You actually have 2 ways to block projectiles 1) Staff 4 is a projectile reflect around you 2) Rifle 4 while kneeling is a projectile block barrier which can be placed
In a pinch we can also take Smoke Screen (or Seal Area to precast), as Shadow Flare is not strictly required for Quickness (and we can take Shadow Meld for more Stolen Skills, using the Stealth either for Backstab damage on Dagger or Hook Strike CC on Staff).
Might as well do Alac Specter since you did Quick Deadeye. Alac Specter is one of my favorite builds to play. Does great damage, cc, solid boon access, and even gives out some barrier and heals to it's group. All while actually being somewhat tanky as a Thief thanks to running Ritualists gear and Shadow Shroud.
Man, thanks for this guide. I’m a daredevil thief main with only one full set of berserker ascended gear so far, which has limited me to only being able to play a DPS role in fractals. Being able to switch to a quickness build with very minimal change to my gear is really nice. Cheers
Im quite new to Gw2 and play this with dual pistol instead of staff. With the pistol 3 mechanic it is very beginner friendly because you just spam pistol 3 and can concentrate on the quickness mechanic. I play this mainly as fractal char in pugs.
Awesome job Muk. You really have a way of breaking down these builds so that everybody can understand them. However, take it easy, learning all these support builds can surely be taxing in such a short time :)
Love these videos, they really showcase how to play the basics of the builds and hopefully give others the confidence to try some of them out, upgrading themselves from "hi dps" class to something valuable for the team their joining.
Nice review. If you drop executioner in deadly art for improvisation you get 5 steal time per steal + mercy, so you can swap your heal skill to signet for more healing to help with squishiness and your flare too for some utility if you want, and also have less buttons to press in exchange for losing a situational damage buff. Also thief has aoe cleanse that gives a dodge worth of endurance on the crit chance signet and a bubble skill on one of the traps, so there are some kind of utility skills that could be useful there, just hidden. P.S. shadow refuge is one of the few skills left in the game that has 5% revive per tick (even if it doesn't say to) on top of heal and stealth so that's pretty good.
As someone who really likes Diviners, I'm sad, but also, at least it's easy to gear for. Diviners qDPS Scrapper is great, and you can dump some of the Diviners for Berserkers when you hit a comfortable uptime breakpoint to push your DPS up. I've got a half n' half mix of Diviner/Berserkers at this point.
I love diviner builds too but they really need to make getting it easier. Concentration gear in general needs to be easier to get given that its an inherently niche stat compared to berserker or viper. Also we need a condi instead of power version of harrier's. Its really weird that it wasn't made in End of Dragons despite the introduction of the specter who would like it the most.
When you do power boon chronomancer I recommend swapping mantra of pain out for phantasmal disenchanter. It helps with boon uptime and clone generation. Use it off cd exactly like the wells and use it first during the opener to give yourself 3 clones for the opening continuum split instead of only 2.
I do exactly this for that same reason. I'm curious if he does continuum split at all with how he only spends a couple hours with each build to learn everything and it's a more complex rotating than some simpler boon dps
The animation lock on Staff 2 really takes some getting used to and knowledge of the fight. Another problem is if you can lose your target. Press 2 at the wrong moment and you might yeet yourself off a platform or into ouchies. The tooltip for Steal Time doesn't mention the range of the quickness. It's probably not 1500. The additional boons from Fire for Effect have 360 range so I would guess the quickness is the same? Edit: Snow Crows uses an Assassin backpack and 5 Precise Infusions to get their crit rate to 63%.
You’re correct, the boon radius is 360. 1,500 is the distance to strike enemies with the stolen skill. When you use the skill you get an anomalously large area of effect ring that makes it seem like the boon radius is way larger than it actually is for some reason.
I been wanting to try Quick Deadeye but I been having issues with my build template being full lol. They need to hurry up with adding more build template slots or I'm just going to have to start using the build storage on the side.
For builds you can just use a text file. Equipment templates are the real problem. And I refuse to give them money/gems for a feature that should have been in the game at release and they removed a free mod to sell us the new solution.
@@Kantharr Yeah, they overcomplicated things with stuff people didn't ask for like the insta change buttons when they should keep it simple and free and encourage experimentation.
It's my goto for strike missions. Granted, I personally go deadly arts and trickery tree, pick up improvising instead of executioner, and spam dual pistols 3. My version is for turning your brain off and being lazy, while still providing like 250% quickness uptime with zero concentration in your equipment. F1, f2 twice, mercy, f2 3 more times, and then you're already capped out quickness in a huge 600 aoe around you within the first few seconds. Meanwhile, my celestial firebrand has to utterly sweat it out to maintain quickness uptime, and I have to be very precise with my tiny aoe cone in front of me. It's utterly annoying, and the only reason I even bother with it is because she is currently my only character with full ascended gear for t4 fractals. tl;dr improvision=instant max easy quickness. Then shoot 600 rpm guns until pinata spills loot.
Quickdeadeye would be less clunky if deadeyes mark just did quickness and the boons instead of 2 buttons Like the be quick or be k’d trait for self quickness that adds 200 power/precision
Man, i don't play thief but it needs some love... I was tweaking mine but i hated the actual state of the profession. They should have and power quickness build using rifle
In theory, I like the idea of a support that is more selfish (aka, less boons/utility) in exchange for higher dps and it's a nice tradeoff to have. In practice though, I feel like the difference between like this and other options like qZerker and options like herald/chrono that bring lots of other things to the squad is just not worth the tradeoff due to that higher dps being a) less important due to fewer dps checks in the game and b) not even being that big of a difference compared to other more well rounded supports. It's sad too, cause I love the idea of qDE, even if I think it would have been better to have made Be Quick or Be Killed (the middle grandmaster trait) just apply quickness to allies.
I play as a thief and this build seems like it is easy to gear and easy to play - I already have berserker set so I can reuse pretty much everything. I have been playing spectre a lot lately and this deadeye rotation seems a lot more forgiving and easier to pull off, so hopefully if I play this I can pay more attention to the strike mechanics and less time mashing buttons frantically like I am playing the piano which you need to do to play Spectre. As for utility it's been a while since I played with staff but I think one of your abilities (either 4, or 5) blinds and has a projectile reflect.
Everything you said is true, however I think there is something to be said for the ease of switching builds when your group suddenly needs a qdps and you don't want to switch characters.
Hi Mukluk, with the issue on the lack of range, wouldn't swapping daggers for a riffle/pistols be a best solution? maybe a little less dps but everything is always in range if needed and you still provide boons.
@elocfreidon thank you I was just hoping he would make something for wvw with the new weapons and with so much knowledge with the game I think he would do a great job
Love these vids brother. Can you do quick scrapper next? I am not sure if it’s even viable atm, but if it is your wisdom on the matter would be much appreciated!
@@TheEightDomain To clarify, I meant a quickness scrapper build for fractals, raids, etc. If he is doing a series on how to play the build along with pros/cons, I would be curious to see his take on the current state of quickness scrapper specifically. I play engi a lot, but I avoid that specific build because I originally believed the combo system was a bit over-complicated with minimum returns. But it is possible I just don't know what I am talking about.
Power builds using Dagger is only good for low HP targets because of the 2 skill. The auto attack shares it's tooltip with condi, so it is "balanced" to be terrible for power.
@@marcelozampieri1100It’s not good to use Dagger 4 on anything but Maleficen Seven. Building Malice just isn’t worth doing on dagger until 25% target HP. Until then, dagger 5 into Backstab is the best damage-per-init and damage-per-cast-time (it also gives Revealed Training for more Power).
Yes you can, it’s the 2nd best DPS option for Power Quickness Deadeye. Until 25% HP, only spend Initiative on Dagger 5 -> Backstab. At 25% HP start using Heartseeker; when you hit 5 Malice, use an F2 for Stealth then Backstab.

Also, worth noting your ambush using staff applies great breakbar damage. This will help your squad a lot, since you will be spamming your stolen skill anyways. Dps players, ENJOY.
All Deadeye stolen skills now grant their effects in a 360 radius, as of the June 2023 patch that introduced Quickness Deadeye. Fire For Effect grandmaster guarantees every stolen skill is Steal Time (instead of being 1/9 chance).
what happened with all the low intensity builds that were booming at one point? it seems nobody is updating those after recent changes and new weapons came out
I tested all the ones I made after SotO released and made sure there is still at least one available for every class. Any still on this list are still up to date: mukluklabs.com/gw2-builds/#LiBuilds
@@MuklukRUclips sounds good, thanks for the link, i like your website, would it be too much of an inconvenience to put somewhere on the builds like a date when it was last updated?
Weapon master training (introduced in secrets of the obscure) allows you to use your other elite specs weapons on any build. So for example: thief deadeye can use the daredevils staff, or a daredevil can use the specters scepter, etc.
I'm a new player, researching different ranged professions for what looks fun. Hard to describe my disappointment to see the Deadeye elite spec being played as melee. I think this is what is the most confusing about the game to new players - you select a class for how you think in your head it should be played, but the optimal way of doing it is soo far off from what you had in your head
It also very much depends on the game mode! Think of a deadeye as someone who excels at hitting an enemies vital points with precision.. with any weapon. In PvE vs a raid boss it will typically be "which weapon can pump out the most damage over X minutes. But in PvP and WvW they can very much lean into hit and run sniping to very high effect.
3:20 I just want to point out that Muk is doing 22k+ damage while explaining and doing NOTHING in game, which is about as much as most of the other offensive supports while doing their rotations.
@@MuklukRUclips I'm sorry, I should say it give stealth at 5 Malice and i wish it didn't. It is in the tooltip for me and doesn't seem to because another trait from from what I can see. I also see you going into stealth in the video when demoing the build couple of time. Edit: For you going into stealth, it isn't for long, but I see the icon for it on your buff tray then the revealed icon.
I’m biased because the SC build is my brain child, but I want to speak up for the build. It is, IMO, one if the most interesting way to play “quickness Thief” because it has both Staff and Dagger play to their strengths (building-up and spending Malice respectively) to mutual benefit. It’s more interesting than camping either weapon set, and to get good results we have to take advantage of the strengths of each weapon to make the other stronger. I think that’s highly engaging.
I absolutely hate how anet dont give a fck about boon duration now, you have another PERMA QUICKNESS build with 12% boon duration... utter garbage. why they even keep bd gear in the game than? you have broken asf classes which playing in full bers giving perma boons. so now you have classes which NEED to take extra boon duration gear and classes which dont, guess which one are better. fire whole balance team ( 3 guys) and start over.
What are you on about? All meta raid/strike boon DPS builds pretty much have 100% uptime without boon duration gear. Only power Untamed requires diviners. Harbinger gains bood duration from vitality so they really want a good jade core
I am for this, because there is a point where things just become bland and actually hurt fun builds, but then they get a new balance team and things get better in the QoL department. We were so close to having all weapons and their skills useful for any build.
Have to consider that Quickness Deadeye can’t start generating Quickness until it’s marked a target (and with certain phase timings, the mark can expire quickly when downtime begins e.g. Samarog). Getting Quickness immediately at the start of combat is important. If a build needs boon duration GEAR, ANet will balance it to do roughly the same damage as comparable builds that may or may not have high boon uptime. Take Chronomancer, for example, which has very high quick/alac uptime with zero boon duration, which makes it more comfortable to play outside golem enemies that let you generate clones nonstop.

Hi Mukluk, with the issue on the lack of range, wouldn't swapping daggers for a riffle/pistols be a best solution? maybe a little less dps but everything is always in range if needed and you still provide boons.
Wing 4 door opener, massive value is there!
Is it just me, or does staff 2 spin almost exactly to the tempo of "You Spin Me Round"?
How about power and condi alacrity mechanist next?
Mmm this makes me want to try it. The only thing I played Deadeye for was with the rifle hunting dinos in HoT.
could you make WvW Builds both Roaming and Zerg and ones that work in both without doing anything to the build
You'll have to look for guides that specifically says it is for all content.
Any scrapper build is viable, only Mechanist is the only sukky elite engi spec
@@TheEightDomain To clarify, I meant a quickness scrapper build for fractals, raids, etc. If he is doing a series on how to play the build along with pros/cons, I would be curious to see his take on the current state of quickness scrapper specifically. I play engi a lot, but I avoid that specific build because I originally believed the combo system was a bit over-complicated with minimum returns. But it is possible I just don't know what I am talking about.
I wish staff 2 granted superspeed during the cast duration and removed the movement lock.
I would love to see quick harbinger :D
It's criminal they gave thief better cantrips than ele
Is it feasible to use dagger the whole time or is staff just signifigantly better until 25%?
Power builds using Dagger is only good for low HP targets because of the 2 skill. The auto attack shares it's tooltip with condi, so it is "balanced" to be terrible for power.
You can use dagger 4 and 5 to build malice and consume it.
Damn no sniff-thing? :((
I'm glad to see we can always count on Noxxi to do a little trolling. x)
As an player who have mained thief alot to me personally only thing i see for myself as fun is full dps dd or maybe would even this but reasently i have been getting super bored always being on thief and currently focus my old main before thief aka guardian and some of what ranger ngl the rotations are "harder" compered to dd's staff spam 2 until ur out of initiative and depepending on the build if ur running fist flurry was always out of cd to boost the dmg and dodging to keep the bounding dodger trait up for +dmg up time and to me personally the most easiet rotation well not perfect to 100% as some1 else could do dodge at the boss use fist flurry spam 2 until all initiative was empty let skill 1 in autocast trying to keep Bounding Dodger's buff up and repeat and for some fight if running thiefs guild for excample at VG use it while boss run to group then start doing this rotation and after all auto attacking with 1 until initiative was full spam again 2 until empty easy rotation to remember and to be chilling while doing dps nicely but what always comes tp thief or any class if doing too much or too often ild like to say gets boring after an little while while to me currently i have being having alot more fun with my guardian and ranger alot more compered to thief is kinda the reason they can pull better numbers whatever "skills" i got and outsite of group content i do also enjoy playing open world and pvp with wvw etc etc is making huge improment for myself having easier time to survive like in zerk fights at wvw mpre than i ever did with thief and also im not type of player who says thief is weak or hated by anet to me i just dont kinda anymore see the reason doing it and not having as much fun as i have in another classes i personally love swapping around alot from build to build for excample doing open world stuff with both condi and power builds and pve is currently my main gamemode where i dont see thief performing as good as they sre in wvw or pvp imo thief is the only class that has kinda no purpose to play alot outsite competive game modes and if running in pve with thief most likely il recommend running for excample lord hizens specter or deadeye builds to have an much easier time with tough bosses and group figths etc but hey this is just my opion on this feel free to go what ever class u wanna and gamemode if ur having alot of fun with that 😊
Used this build last night with rifle double dagger. That surely solved the problem with ranged DPS kek
Maybe quick de isnt as good as other quick builds but its easily becoming my fav build and i just hope they will leave it alone
Also, worth noting your ambush using staff applies great breakbar damage. This will help your squad a lot, since you will be spamming your stolen skill anyways. Dps players, ENJOY.
Have you made a video on Condi+Quickness Zerker
"Don't do the sniff thing" ahahahahhaha
If u go w rifle you give up cleave for range, is that even worth it?
I thought steal time only affects your character?
All Deadeye stolen skills now grant their effects in a 360 radius, as of the June 2023 patch that introduced Quickness Deadeye. Fire For Effect grandmaster guarantees every stolen skill is Steal Time (instead of being 1/9 chance).
How about quickness berserker, just so you get it out of the way early =)
Please do condi ala tempest next time!!
condi willbender pleasee
Mesmer dps could be pretty crack. I heard they get as much dps support as thief.
i'd love to see you tackle quick cata next
I tried. Video coming soon. It wasn't pretty.
@@MuklukRUclips yeah, i expected as much. makes me sad as an ele main
what happened with all the low intensity builds that were booming at one point? it seems nobody is updating those after recent changes and new weapons came out
I tested all the ones I made after SotO released and made sure there is still at least one available for every class. Any still on this list are still up to date: mukluklabs.com/gw2-builds/#LiBuilds
@@MuklukRUclips sounds good, thanks for the link, i like your website, would it be too much of an inconvenience to put somewhere on the builds like a date when it was last updated?
@@MuklukRUclips see now i am confused as i checked the build for mesmer and it's using runes that are not trapper and there is no relic?
@@MuklukRUclips also the numbers for mesmer are absolutely wrong, 35k? it barely does 20k
@@HKRazieL Check the pinned comments. Every video made pre-relics got a comment pinned with the relevant information after relics came out.
i used the same Build the same Play style but i didn't get good Dmg :( it seems Interesting
thank you
Nevarrrr, power deadeye fo lyfee!!
I can't wait til he gets to chrono again and sees its just as good as healchrono. Chrono > everything else
Berserker. Power and condi quick
So confused. I thought Deadeye was rifle and Daredevil was Staff.
Weapon master training (introduced in secrets of the obscure) allows you to use your other elite specs weapons on any build. So for example: thief deadeye can use the daredevils staff, or a daredevil can use the specters scepter, etc.
Man make another leggie sword
Bro how is he getting 30k on the golem? I have exact same gear and my damage ramps up to like 20k while his starts at 40k
Did you make sure to enable boons and conditions? They make a huge difference.
How about actually using a rifle?
You know what? You won't get a like from me for this video! I want my sniffs back! 😢
I wish Steal Time didn't give Stealth.
It doesn't
@@MuklukRUclips I'm sorry, I should say it give stealth at 5 Malice and i wish it didn't. It is in the tooltip for me and doesn't seem to because another trait from from what I can see. I also see you going into stealth in the video when demoing the build couple of time.
Edit: For you going into stealth, it isn't for long, but I see the icon for it on your buff tray then the revealed icon.
I gotta say, trying to go for the benchmark for Thief is the most boring way to play the profession.
