  • Swapping out the old Mishimoto radiator in the #345 E36 M3 for a new CSF Radiator. The old radiator is a couple of seasons old and I was looking for a more efficient solution to keep the car cool on track. Pricing was pretty similar. Mishimoto is sold from retailers at around $255. CSF is $269. I think the small price difference is worth the higher cooling capacity especially for a race car. Overall really happy with the upgrade.

    1:45 You measured them by the top bars. Mishimoto was 1 1/2 and CSF was 2 inches. At 2:34 if you look the CSFs top and bottom bars have a 1/4 inch orso overhang before the fins start.

    Well worth the 14 dollar premium versus the Mishimoto then. Great videos, keep up the good work.

      Thanks! Yeah, its basically a 33% increase in cooling area over the Mishi. You know a bit about the overheating woes I had in 2016.

    I had a CSF unit for my 335i and in 22 months it started to leak in the seams and fin welds. I just got off email with ECS Tuning and they are sending a new unit under CSF 2 yr. warranty. If your car starts to lose coolant out of nowhere...take a look at the radiator itself if the hoses are new-ish.

    I’m looking into getting a CSF radiator myself for my e46 drift car build. What Efan are you running?

    you mentioned the csf being shiny, they polish their end tanks before they send them out. :)

    Finally subscribed, I appreciate the videos you post. Did you see a quantifiable difference in temperature between the two? I have a stock e46 m3 radiator with electric fan and live in a very hot climate. From my research the mishimoto is basically stock in a pretty package vs. CSF or Koyorad. Appreciate your feedback.

    Would love to hear a long-term update on the CSF Radiator if you could... cooling well? Weld quality? Honestly, the welds look like shit but if it's holding then, yenno.. cool.

    There are lots of reports of Mishimoto e36 radiators leaking (also fitment), did you have any issues?

    • @ChristinaYLam
      @ChristinaYLam  5 лет назад +1

      I didn't have any leaking issues with my Mishimoto. It was just a little worse for wear after a season of racing. Kept the car cool just fine.

    hello what kind of radiator did you put and where you can buy or how to buy

  • @jr303official

    I would like to see numbers, I don't see the purpose of buy a new radiator only because of bugs 🤣. They are expensive and all you have to do is spray radiator cleaner and hose it off. I guess if you have the money spend it?

    The CSF aluminum radiators actual core thickness is 1-5/8" not 2". the upper aluminum surround on the CSF radiatyor measures 2" the core is smaller. the CSF website shows actual dimensions. The CSF and Mishimoto radiator both have the same core thickness.

    Where you get the electric fan from to fit the CSF radiator? I'm thinking about upgrading my stock radiator to the CSF but would rather have an electric fan than clutch fan

  • @goclunker

    Hey Christina, I am about to ram a CSF into my e36 m3, how do you like it? Does it take up much more room? I am doing a silicone hose upgrade on all the coolant hoses, stewart waterpump, alloy neck, lower temp fan switch, etc.
    I am thinking 80C thermostat ( i live in southern California) is that a good idea? This is a street car, but i've been reading mixed opinions. I am also thinking of using a mini cooper puller fan, apparently they fit.
    Thoughts?

    • @ChristinaYLam
      @ChristinaYLam  6 лет назад +1

      I love the CSF. Its a bit deeper than the OEM radiator but should still fit with no issues even if you have the fan clutch in there. I have an electric spal fan which frees up some space. The mini cooper fan sounds cool. The added cooling capacity over the OEM or mishi is worth it. Silicone hoses are a great "while you're in there" upgrade as well as all the other things you've listed. Smart to do it all at once rather than tear into it again when something else fails later. I run a low temp thermostat in my racecar, but run the OEM one in all my street E36 M3s. Its not really necessary in a street car.

      Awesome thanks! I was debating 80C vs stock since its usually 90F+ here most of the time, Figured it would be good for cooling, not so much for economy. looking forward to seeing your oil cooler install, i'll be doing that too

    • @goclunker
      @goclunker 6 лет назад

      im thinking mini fan or e46 330 fan, the only reason is CFMs. My old 318is had a factory electric puller and that thing pulled some serious air! I wish the m42/44 puller would fit, you could see the plume of heat rise when it powered on

    I recently fitted a Mishimoto Dual Core Rad on my Seat Leon Cupra R, 6 weeks and it’s failed leaking from both sides. It comes with a lifetime warranty but I don’t know if I can be bothered with the replacement in case it happens again, I’ve been recommended CSF Rads, so I’ll be interested in seeing how you get on with the CSF Rad. As I’m looking to purchase one myself.
