Benjen Stark Knew The Truth About EVERYTHING? - Game of Thrones Season 8 (End Game Theory)

  • Welcome back for another Game of Thrones video. Today I want to talk about our favorite uncle, Benjen Stark. He wasn't just a man of the Night's Watch. He was also the brother of Ned Stark and Lyanna Stark; two very important characters in this story. We meet Benjen Stark in the very first episode, when he arrives in Winterfell for King Robert's feast. When he gets there, he has a conversation with his nephew, Jon Snow, and Jon talks about joining the Night's Watch immediately. This conversation is the basis for one very popular theory, which is, did Benjen Stark know the truth about Jon Snow's parents? We are led to believe Ned Stark kept this secret his entire life, but could he have told his brother? I also want to talk about a few scenes with Benjen and Bran Stark. After Benjen saves Bran and Meera, he says a few interesting things that could reveal how much he really knew. We don't know what Benjen was doing during all those years he spent beyond the Wall. His men were found in the first season, so what could he have been doing that whole time? We know the children of the forest saved him, by plunging dragonglass into his chest, just like the Night King. When you combine that, with the fact that Benjen has Stark blood, or the blood of the First Men, this could have given him some very special abilities. Was Benjen Stark in constant contact with the children of the forest, or did he have his own access to the weirwood net? Let me know your thoughts or opinions on these topics. Thank you for watching the video!

      I think it had more so to being the least important son in their view. Benjen's brother was heir to Winterfell and his father was lord but they died and then his second oldest brother being lord of Winterfell. All these men who had a much greater relevancy may have been what lead him to join the Nightswatch because unless Ned dies, his name and ancestory means nothing. That's similar to Jon, although not being the youngest, he is absolutely the least relevant of what at the time seemed to be the Lord of Winterfell's son. He would likely never be Lord and he was also thought to be a bastard which packed more power to the punch probably. I think they both struggled with finding a place in their home where they seemed to have little purpose which is why they were eager to join the Nightswatch where they would have a greater importance.

      I agree with your opinion. Most people think this way because of conception. It is the lie to prevent the true Heir to the Iron Throne from joining the Night King and fulfiling his destiny at his side like the diciples of Jesus fulfiling theirs. When you have been resurrected from the dead in time to come. You will either serve Jesus like those who serve the Night King or try to join those who wont accept you because you have been resurrected and they believe what is dead stays dead. Where are you Jesus (or should i say where are you Night King).

      Well, he is a Targaryen. The succession law in GoT and the middle ages is stronger by the father's bloodline. There are exceptions when some men would claim titles and lands from their mother's bloodline but when you send your daughter or sister to marry other clan she becomes part of it and her kids are seen as the other clan.

    • @alexandrialundborg682
      @alexandrialundborg682 5 лет назад +97

      This is the way that I see it. When a child is born, naturally the child takes the last name of the father. So all the Ned's kids: Sansa, Arya, Bran, and etc are Starks because this is their father's last name. Jon Snow is a Stark on his mother's side but the birth name he was given was Aegon Targaryen, by the household name he is a Targaryen, yes a Stark on his mother's side but Jon will forever carry the household name Targaryen and not Stark. This is just my interpretation and the only reason how I can justify him saying Jon is half-Stark.

    Ned Stark's promise to his dying sister, Lyanna, was more than just about keeping Jon Snow a secret. It was also about protecting him (an even bigger responsibility). Westeros was an even more dangerous place at the time. Ned had to have known that if something happened to him, Jon would truly be alone and in danger. So he had to have told the only other person he completely and totally trusted - who he also knew loved his sister and family honor. He told his brother Ben. They were the only two remaining Stark men at the time, and he knew his promise would need to pass to his brother Ben (should Ned die). The only other person who would have known was Howland Reed, Ned's best friend who was with him at the Tower of Love. Howland Reed is the father of Jojen and Meera Reed, who had helped and saved Brandon get beyond the Wall and get to the Blood Raven. Do you think this was a coincidence? I think not. Not at all. Jojen had visions too, and I'm sure his father Howland Reed knew the meaning and importance of those visions (at least the Jon parts). So he must have told his kids that they needed to be ready for this Brandon Stark when the time came. I can't wait to see all these "unknowns" be unwrapped and finally answered. Which adds even more meaning to the phase "You know nothing, Jon Snow." It has much more significance and meaning, than just a quick witted, flirtatious phrase from a flaming ginger. Nice.

If she knew - she would be kind to him - a woman of Cat's class wouldn't be kind to her husband's bastard if he was flaunted in her face. She even said, of course he should provide for the boy, but raise him in our home (not the exact words but you get the idea). Though you DO see - it seems in the North, more bastards raised & recognized by their fathers.... possibly Ned thinking it was more accepted in the North.. didn't realize Cat's reaction - it's not Jon's fault, she is very childish & cruel to treat a child badly because of her husband's mistakes. But this seems to be a good thing as it was a much more convincing (though sad for Jon & Cat - who both had to suffer) but kept them safe from King Robert"s wrath.

      I believe life goes on and history repeats itself, its just the cycle of life i guess and Benji Stark is the new Nights King i'm afraid, when the currant Nights King is dead, the long night ends. When Benji Stark transformation is completed, the children of the forest will set fourth in creating a new long night, WINTER IS COMING and will always come as long as the children can get their hands on Stark blood. The Children hates MAN and creating Nights King is the only way they can wage war. Hence why they saved Benji and left the rest for dead. This will always happen, think a little deeper, all Stark men are dead except Jon, Bran and Benji, We know that the currant Nights King is a Stark, Bran can't have babies, and Jon is about to restart the stark bloodline. They will kill the Nights King and then 100 generations later of Starks, Here comes BENJI

      Especially if my theory for the Iron Throne comes out to be true. I think it will be highly influenced by the Iron Bank and Golden Company (Bittersteel), maybe even the Faceless Men. We don't know much about any of the 3 and I don't think Bittersteel has been mentioned AT ALL so maybe he isn't even a part of the HBO series (~3-4 episodes to build and end his character arc?) even with his bloodlines. As for my opinion on these 3 entities playing a huge role, think of what clue we've been given. Two battle scenes left. Both HAVE to be against the Night King right? The big bad who has forced all enemies to come together to fight. He can't be finished in just one battle (although maybe Bran has a separate single combat in a different state or something with him and it's not a huge battle and doesn't count as the 2nd idk). But if this is the case, 2 battle against the Night King, we have assassinations and betrayals happening elsewhere. That leaves the Golden Company to betray and maybe the Faceless Men to assassinate whoever sits atop the throne in the dust and ending the series on a cliffhanger.

      Isn't Howland Reed the guy who actually killed the guy in the Kings Guard that Ned got credit for and kind of got fame for killing him? If so then they probably had an understanding that they wouldn't tell each others secrets because Reed could have been killed for killing the Kings Guardsman the way he did, Reed struck him down from behind while he was engaged in a sword fight (an attack on the King's Guard is an attack on the king himself) but if Ned killed him during the sword fight it would have been fine because it was a face to face honourable fair fight. A man's Honor meant something during those times.
