Monospaced fonts are also used on programming because of vertical alignment of characters, which is very important while reading code.

Amazing content, can't wait to watch the whole series! Very informative information that most self taught motion designers are not educated about.

My understanding of the difference between a character and a glyph (from a programmer perspective) - is that a character is the conceptual representation of a letter. As in 'b' is the second letter in the English alphabet. A glyph is the visual representation of that character in a given font. Perhaps the real definition from a typographer might be different but language changes over time

I think you're right, its like anything, really. There's the definition and there's how people use it. Which one has greater power?

Thanks for the video. I love the three colour combination of your presentation. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you might have mixed up the ›Italic‹ and ›Oblique‹ style. When I remember what I heard on the history of typefaces ›Italic‹ was a style that brought back the handwritten aspect of lettering after the invention of Gutenbergs type printing press and became popular around Italy. Wikipedia also explains it the other way around than you did. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oblique_type

I did mix it up, but I've got no way to change it now :)
