Cyndy, I got to thank you for keeping old birds like me current. It's been nearly 20 years since I did my PPL paper exams and you channel has been a great for refreshing my knowledge . Technology has definitely replaced a lot of our pre-flight preparations but we should have the basics still in our mind. Watching your channel always keeps my grey matter ticking over.

What kind of sorcery is this? lol. I have never been taught this. What an awesome trick for drawing course lines from one side of a sectional chart to another. With one of my XC solos from GMU -> AHN -> GRD -> GMU, I had to figure this out (and I used Foreflight to validate my total distance, etc.) but it was not near as clever as this! Thank you so much Cyndy! You rock!! So glad I chose Flight School of Greenville for my pilot training.

Congrats Cindy on bringing this trick back. I will be honest that I had seen it before. The truth and debate would be about the validity of this trick been applicable to the EFB aviation era we live nowadays. I am old enough to have done everything in paper but I think the bottom line would be what the DPE is looking for during the checkride. Will he/she accept new technology or paper charts? I am presently in training for my CFI and I can teach and do both. Open for polite discussion.

Thanks for this! The DPE for my checkride gave me a XC with this exact scenario.
