The other videos i saw were really complicated and didnt tell how to adjust the sizing and it overwhelmed me into thinking i couldnt do this. Thank you sooo much this tutorial was literaly like a fresh breath of air.
Hey just an idea, it looks like your sewing machine likes to fight with you while sewing 💔 Get a silicone- nonstick mat for cooking and place it under, I think that'll really help! Not that you asked, don't mind me trying to be helpful 🙈
I love that idea! That’s so helpful! My machine does like to move away from me while I’m sewing 😅 probably because it’s made of plastic. Thank you Emily!
Its so pretty ! I wanted to try to make a skirt like this for so long 😮 i was wondering if you had any idea how to adjust the measurements if i wanted to make it in 5 panels instead of 3, for the height i just have to divide it by five but for the length of each panel, how could i proceed so that it "enlarges" smoothly ? 🤔
Such a good question! Yes, you would divide your desired length by 5 tiers in height, then in width I would probably increase each tier to be .5 or .75 larger than the previous. So if tier one is 60", tier 2 is 90"-105" and so on. I doubled my widths, but you could half it or 3/4 it. Hope that makes sense!
I make one like this but the top is from a cut jean pant them two rows of flares it was a lot of work I did not do it in a day but I got it done it came out nice the two flares are white
Is it okay to make the circles in halves? Like to make the most of the fabric i have i would like to cut each tier half half and then sew to make the circle. Sorry if i didnt explain myself well, english is not my first language. Thank you for the tutorial!
Hi! Im in love with the way you made the skirt! I have about the same measurements as you but the fabric I have doesn’t cover even half the width needed for the last tier. Even if I get extra fabric (45 in width each) I barely make it! Any advice would be helpful!🥺🥺🥺
@@Mindfulmae Yeah that's pretty much it. It's about four yards in length but 45 inches in width. With two, it would only be 84-90 inches combined. I really want it to be flowy but do you think I might have to cut the measurments in half?
@@Butterfly_Princess264 I think that’s your best bet to cut the amount in half. It would still be cute not as flowy! Sometimes I wish mine was less puffy. I love the look of a tiered skirt that sits a little closer to the body 🤗
Thank you for this!! This helps me so much! Also I really love your hair in combination with your face shape. Seriously has me wanting to go short again!
Can I use my widest hip/butt measurement instead of my waist? A common problem with skirts and dresses for me is that the waist fits, but the skirt looks oddly fitted at my butt. Thanks! 😊
I never really cared much about this kind of maxi skirt, but watching you make one and turn out so cute made me want to have one too!! but thinking about that much hemming and gathering is intimidating
I had never liked them before either, but now I love the tiered style! You should go for it; the gathering is a bit intimidating, but you can just watch a show while you do it and be sure to take your time! ;)
Love this! I’m obsessed with white skirts and this is such a perfect DIY sewing project
Thanks lady!! I'm obsessed with white skirts rn too!

Aw thanks so much! I feel like I’ve come a long way with my explanations/tutorials, so I’m glad it’s helping you!!
super cute!
Very pretty 😀
What's the name of the fabric pleaaase ??? It's not see through right???
Hey! I thrifted it so I’m not positive what it’s made of, but it feels like cotton!
@@Mindfulmae thank you !! i've made it and im so in love with it

Absolutely! If I understand right, you need to sew some shorter rectangles together to get the correct width for each tier? You can totally do that!
@@Mindfulmae Exactly! Thank you so much for the answer!
Darling skirt!
Thanks for the great explanation - especially love the hem ironing tip!! 😊
Your personality is EVERYTHING. I love your videos so much!
English isn't my first language, but thanks cause this is the best tutorial I've seen. ❤🙌
Thanks Vanessa! I'm glad to hear that :)
Exactly what I was looking for!!!!
I know how you feel! I was looking for a diy for this skirt and that’s why I just made it myself! thanks for watching 😄
Love this! Thrift haul at the end was lovely, too! So jealous of your finds!
Thank you! I am so stoked about the thrift finds too!
I’m in the middle of making mine and now I want to make another one in white 😅
Right?! White feels so springy to me!
fabric name?
I thrifted it, so I’m not positive what the fabric is made of, but I’m betting it’s just 100% white cotton :)
Great haul, too!!
LOVE the vest!! 😮

@@Butterfly_Princess264 hi! I’m not sure I fully understand. You’re able to get more fabric, but it’s still not enough? :) I know 240” is a lot 😅

I think you could! It would just be more fabric to gather when inserting the elastic, but it makes for a fuller looking skirt, which is lovely!
