- After narrowly avoiding being eaten by a dragon Laios gathers his party and returns to the dungeon to seek revenge. But without any money for food and gear they must turn to other means to sustain themselves within the dungeon.

I like how everyone had the same thought of "He wants to join the party simply to get to that red dragon to eat it and I can't judge him because that's what I would do". That was my reaction to it as well and I am so happy I'm not the only one who thought this.
Fun fact, the original manga-ka is a huge fan of Baldurs Gate, Baldurs Gate 2, and Pathfinder Kingmaker games. She was heavily influenced by them for this series and even drew portraits of NPCs from the games in her style.
Also, if you're looking for other food oriented anime, Food Wars is a good start but there is also Campfire Cooking in Another World. Both shows had me wondering if I should be taking notes on cooking methods used.
I doubt the anime is going to cover everything in the manga but I sure hope we at least get 24 episodes. Dunmeshi is such a special series. The characters, the world, the writing, I just love everything about it.

Take a look at studio trigger, they just rarely do more than a 12 episode season of anime

The way they stumble upon Senshi just brought me back to finding out Yuffie could join your party in the OG Final Fantasy 7. Then later with Vincent since they're both optional party members you can totally miss.
There are quite a few anime that have as one of the premise: :"If I eat it I get stronger... "

I am exactly like Senshi for the most part though personality wise a bit more like Laios personality wise, but I mirror Senshi's love and respect for his food and environment. Plus I am a self trained home cook. This show has climbed the list to be one of my favs for sure. Also since you mentioned Food Wars be warned of the fanservice, the author was an H author after all. But the food is fantastic and I have replicated some of the recipes from it since Food Wars is more grounded in reality.

Why Laios has a Dungeon Gourmet Guide is pretty funny and not necessarily plot-related in my opinion but just to be safe I'll put it behind a spoiler wall.
Potential Spoiler.
It's not a real cookbook, it's a childrens book that he got as a birthday gift when he was young and he's loved ever since. That's why it's covered with stickynotes and text in the side margins, he's making the recipes real but with those bomb Senshi recipes instead.
the dub for this anime is kinda good though.
For what I read about this particular manga delicious dungeon given its heavy homage to Dungeons & Dragons . There's another anime name record of lodoss War that is heavy homage to Dungeons and Dragons, too . I'm currently watching a delicious dungeon. t's funnier 😂.
