I did that exact wrap tonight on y P2. Love it. It looks really good. I was afraid it would look a bit out of place, but I think it looks great. It was first time doing a wrap on anything. Thanks for the tips and walk through!
I did this and decided to take it off as I wasn’t 100% happy. Like you I had slight puckering around the bottom corner edge. To get a perfect finish is not easy.
Post doing this I think you have 2 wrapping options with this centre console. One is to wrap the top, and then do a nice smooth cut around the edge which will show a uniform amount of the original edge. Or at room temperature so you are not fighting the vinyl as much, leave a larger overhang which you can heat, and pull around the edges, and then cut them out neater. In the summer I will have anoher attempt, as I also want to wrap the front part of the roof and the front and rear chrome parts, but its just to cold outside to work with the vinyl easily.
Great idea, I prefer the original gloss back appearance so will look to probably have mine covered with clear protective film when my P2 arrives later this year.
Interesting to see how to cover the panel. Funny how designers choose impractical materials for interior features.Have put Polestar 2 on my EV short list (lovely looking car) but a little worried about reported intermittent 4G connection issues?
@@teddy3011-z7c Yes the was an update / capacity update on Monday I think it was, was to the Cell provider vs the car itself. There is an Over The Air update due at the end of Feb.
Nice job ! Can’t wait to receive my Polestar 2 but I don’t think I will dare to do this job by myself (beautiful job by the way !). Too afraid to obtain a result not as good as yours.
Good job.......I'm just wondering if over time....... the adhesive on the back of the Vinyl would react negatively with the lacquer that gives the shiny piano black finish on the centre console.!! That`s assuming you wanted to revert back to the original for whatever reason at some time in the future.
In theory I do not think so, I have used vinyl on many projects over the years and not had issues when removing. The main thing in my experience is to just make sure you warm up the vinyl when removing it, so the adhesive loosens, this will minimise potential damage to the original part.
I have a Polestar 2 without the plus pack, so I'm missing the wireless charger. Do you think it would be possible to add it where it would be from the factory without too much trouble? If so, I think that would be an awesome video.
I think so, assuming the same connectors are there, just get the part from the dealer and install it. Or you could add a USB powered charger and wire into the USB, but that would be more messing about. Not a video I would be making sadly, as I already have the wireless charging in place.
Some people have 3D Printed a clip on one, but not to sure about that personally. Despite agreeing the cup holder choice is poor, I have never found it an issue personally.
HI Martain, thats what you do. Leave a little over lap to tuck around and under. When I do it again, I will leave more over hang to pull it around and tighter.
thanks good content will try that on my Polestar after I test it out on my little swift first :), a tripod would make it better, will make you vids higher quality .
The whole console needs a redesign IMO. An EV does not need a vanity gear shifter. Remove the shifter and you'd be able to get at the volume knob and maybe squeeze in a second usable cup holder.
i wish that car manufacturers will stop putting this gloss black BS inside cars and ease our lives... but here we are, almost two years after your video, and its still there and with even more parts... (new mercedes cars for example). terrible.
@@simonmachler5013 I think it will be hard to find a perfect match. I would look on ebay for Pearl White and Silver Vinyl samples and see if you can find one that is close enough to match. Or remove it and take it to a body shop and have them paint it using the Polestar paint colour code.
good info, but you could easily edit 10-12 minutes out of this slow-moving & bloated presentation ... and please invest in some sort of phone holder or a tripod
Followed this yesterday to complete the wrap on mine. Never done this before and it worked like a charm. Thanks for a brilliant tutorial!
Glad it helped

Nice work! Its makes a big difference, thanks for watching and commenting and glad I could help.

I am planning a clear protective wrap too. Did you have yours done yet?
Go for it!
Thanks for this. Wouldn’t have had a go without your video, done mine in a satin pearlescent white to match exterior 🤩
Excellent, glad it helped.
Am finally going to do this on my p2. Great video.
Good luck! Its a great mod to do.
It looks very good from where im standing. Like the finish too :)
Thanks, I am just abit picky so will redo again at a future time :)
I think you did a nice work and the Color you chosen would be my choice too ;-) Greatings from Switzerland
Thanks for watching and commenting. Hope all is well in Switzerland ... many years since I have visited.
Not even got one of these cars yet but looks like a great thing to do fairly early on when I do.
Certainly worth doing early on to avoid scratches on the piano black surface.
that looks so much better than the standard console shiny plastics
Agreed. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Vast improvement. black gloss is a pain in the backside to keep nice looking. one of the first jobs im doing when i get mine.
Yeah, looks sooo much better and provides some protection too.

Don’t worry about the 4g. It’s fixed. Really a minor teething issue. Beautiful car (Polestar driver). By the time you get one might even have the app!
Sadly I wouldnt say its "fixed" I had no issues until 2 days ago, now have no 4G at all. Reboots, etc made no difference, its very odd.
@@SpectrumGeeks Hadn‘t Polestar announced an update? Or was it a Google update?

Brilliant. Ordering it right now.
Happy wrapping Cedric.
I heard the 2022 models fixes this problem. Might be worth waiting.
I think they have slightly less glossy ones, but still nice to know how to wrap it if needed.
Well done mate 👍🏽
Thanks 👍
Brilliant tutorial, thank you.

Looks a good choice and thanks for the detailed video.

Another great video from you.
Glad you enjoyed it
Do i need to shutdown the car or remove the battery before i move the cables from the charger panel?
Nope. Just unplug, the system will most likely have powered down by the time you get it free anyway, but shouldnt be an issue.
Forget wrapping it... how can you cram another cup holder in all that wasted space?
Some people have 3D Printed a clip on one, but not to sure about that personally. Despite agreeing the cup holder choice is poor, I have never found it an issue personally.
Thanks for the tutorial! Very much apreciated! Quick question: why not wrap the vinyl around the panel to the bottom to avoid seeing the edges?

Looks great 👍🏻
Thank you! Cheers!
How comfortable are the ohlins shocks?
I find them perfectly comfortable, however I do prefer a stiffer / sportier suspension setup.
How do you feel about the wrap after five months Dale?
Awesome still and no regrets.
That looks great - nice one 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
What you came for starts at 6:30
Thanks ... the video has time codes so no need to guess what bit you want to jump too.

It is indeed :) I have an Indian Scout Bobber.
Congrats on your first EV, I am sure you will enjoy it.

There are links in the description for the tools and vinyl I used.

I actually quite like the gear shifter design.
It occurs to me somebody with access to a sewing machine should run up a pair of gloves made out of microfiber?😃
Ha ha yeah, but wouldn't look as good as covering the console :)

It looks good but only in a sealed cabinet that cannot be touched :D
I would give carbon fiber
Do it :)
I guess i will wrap it in the colour of my car... which will be magnesium ;(
I think it will look good in a matched colour, I did consider it but decided to do something that blends more.
