- In this video, we take a look at the 2020 Lenovo Ideapad 3 15 Laptop.
With a 10th Gen i3 8GB or ram and 256Gb of m.2 SSD storage this laptop actually performs really great even with gaming.
I purchased this laptop for $299 from Walmart and it is well worth it!

I work at Walmart. The ones for $199 are clearance out. We are starting to receive an hp with i5/8gb ram and 256 ssd for $349

Here in India, a laptop with same (or similar config of core i5 10th gen, 8gb ddr4) will go for around 45,000 INR (About $600) and it comes with 1TB HDD instead of SSD, and an FHD TN Panel.

At a local Walmart, I recently saw an MSI gaming laptop on the clearance table with a 9th-gen i7, an RTX 2060, a 144hz screen, and 32gb of RAM for $799. You can stumble across some serious deals.

Killer review! Straight and to the point with data that is actually useful! Best Buy has the sliver one for $300, and I need a dedicated administrative computer instead of trying to get my aging MacBook Pro to do double duty editing and being an office machine. This, with the option of 12 gb of ram easily added, seems just the ticket

Bought the Lenovo S-340 15" i5 8gb, 128gb m.2 for $399 back in July from WM. GREAT LAPTOP!!!!!. Have loaded Linux Mint 20.04, and BilssOS "CarbonRom" Android 10, both on USB drives. Now have 3-in-1 boot options, win10, Linux, and Android. Thanks to your videos. I am a huge fan.
@Alfred Shaji Mekkaden No, I installed LMC20.04 on its own 128gb usb, then BlissOS on its own 64gb usb, and Win10 is on the internal SSD. I then just use the bios Boot Menu to select what I to boot.

Beautiful video. This is definitely a good laptop for me. It's decent in gaming & emulation. And I'm sure it'll be good enough for graphic design & video editing.
My cousin just gave this to me few weeks ago. Super slow at first but surprised it was fully compatable with windows 11 and upgraded it with a nvme ssd! Now it's freaking fast and boots up in seconds.
Lenovo has been killing it lately, you should check out the Ryzen based units!

I mean you can get i3 /ryzen 3 laptops with SSDS for £350 in the UK so it's not that far off once you add VAT to most US prices maybe £50 more etc
ShadowPanda It is a wee bit more than that. According to the video the PC is 320 USD with tax. As of today, there are 0.76 cents to the GBP. This means the UK equivalent would be approximately 117 UKP. The same laptop in the UK is around £450 on Lenovo’s website and with an inferior spec. In summary, it is a damn good deal.

Yeah it's a bit more than the US but sometimes on sale you can get them cheaper. Still not bad for the money
ShadowPanda Good try but you have to compare apples with apples (excuse the pun). 😉 Even your price of £350 is nearly three times the US price. We get screwed in this country on tech prices - it has always been this way.

I love these kind of laptops in general. I prefer these kind of devices running Linux but the drivers aren't always up to scratch.
I have the i3 8th gen version of this laptop and it still serves me well. 🙌

I bought a $169 Lenovo Chromebook 3 from Walmart. Looks like the same build materials and keyboard (I don't have the num pad it's an 11" device). Lenovo is killing it in the low end. The keyboard feels great and the case feels solid. I'm impressed with Lenovo.

My grandparents upgraded from a Pentium 4 to this laptop and it is great, for them and for me to use when I am there
At that price it is amazing. Sadly, the 4Gb/128Gb model in the UK is more than twice the price of this one.
Goes to show what the mark ups are though if they can actually sell this cheap and still make a profit.

The single core performance of this i3 1005G1 is actually higher than my i5 8250u. Its SSD is also faster than my aftermarket NVMe installed. And it’s upgradable! Amazing. It’s a steal for $300.
Whether it’s $200 or $300 the specs on this laptop alone make it totally worth it.

With apple pushing ARM and RiscV it makes u wonder about next gen arm chips and if they are gonna be better than x86 at some point (pricepoint is another matter apple have a penchant for overpricing shit makes me worry about SBC like next gen pi etc ).
More laptops like this will pop up with higher spec chips for low pricepoint to keep market share i think its gona be intresting for x86 and arm for the next decade, but also Intel having pressure from AMD is also a factor as they are gaining market share in laptops and mobile chips with samsung phones paired with RDNA graphics.
I love Lenovo laptops, for the price, they are really good laptops!! But I'm glad I got the Motile right before the prices went up. ..So I paid a little more, but it's a more powerful laptop!

I haven't really watched movies on it. It does boot quickly, speed is good, and I have played a game or two one it.

I bought an Ideapad 3 on Facebook market for $60 here in Alaska. It didn’t have a charger. I bought a charger for it from ebay. It just arrived today. Guess what I plugged it and light turned on from the power button. The Lenovo logo came on. I’m like Wow! I can’t believe it works like new. I’m super happy with this purchased. ☺️

I would like to see a video reviewing the Asus imagine book and seeing if it’s up to par with this one or better (I found one for $500 but you can probably find one for maybe $250-300). oh and if you do review this laptop can you try to play TF2, Minecraft, and Valorant.
Got a Lenovo legion which was definitely not this price $1300 this one seems pretty strong good specs. Might buy as a back up

I was really lucky to find that laptop, it was a nightmare trying to find one. There were only 4 on the shelf and i bought one for school and dabble on some pc gaming. Though i already know this does not have geoforce on this laptop.

We got this for my son's online schooling. It is excellent for the price the only real down side is the screen is not that good. It is not terrible just not really good either. Now that i3s have Hyper threading it being a dual core is not going to be a problem for most users.
Can you do a video about hackintosh on this laptop? That would be nice since it can be a much cheaper macbook alternative.
It might be a great laptop for cheap external GPU setup with the M2 slot (as long as you are okay with SATA SSD)

My niece was looking at this laptop to spend her birthday money on. She plays games like Minecraft, Roblox, and Sims 4. I told her to get the motile with the ryzen 3 3200u instead cuz I hadn't seen any reviews I trust with the Lenovo one till now. If you have a Motile 3200u laptop I would do a comparison. It'll be a good 299.00 vs 299.00 vid.

Was it the old Edge or the new ChromiEdge?
I vaguely recall you can see the difference in Task Manager.
ChromiEdge has a different executable name compared to Legacy Edge.
In 2010 i spent that same amount at best buy on a 500gb hdd toshiba i5 at half the speeds (cpu, ram and mem). Im starting to see what my dad had gone through. Shit this wouldve been at least 50% more than that back then, probs around 800$ if it was available

I bought this model online a month ago for the $299 price, and I was a little annoyed at the Windows S mode. Thank you for this video about upgrading to the Home version, I'm going to do that now!
Besides the S mode, no complaints after the first month, seems like a sweet deal for $299.
Only thing I would like to had in the laptop is two usb-c ports.
Isn't Tiger Lake coming out next month? I'm reading right now that Intel 12th gen graphics could offer up to 4 X the performance. I'd definitely stay tuned for that. It would be a shame if this laptop wasn't 'totally worth it' anymore in as little as a few months, especially if one were to get a great deal on a Tiger Lake during Black Friday.

Excellent laptop however no sata connector for the 2.5 inch drive is a minus. There are people on using adapters from aliexpress with successon these types of laptops. We do need toknow the exact model to see if there is one available. They have a sata to flat ribbon cable to connect to the motherboard.
This laptop is up to $506 now! Just bought a $299 HP 14" from Walmart. Felt pretty zippy as I configured it for her. I think we are seeing less great deals on quality laptops right now.
im a very big fan of the i7 8650u series laptops ther provide alot of performance over the celeron with a better chip and graphics processing power but if you want them under 300 you must buy used and i did for 2 of my laptops one for the garage to run tunes of my cars and customer cars along with one i take on vacation and have around the house to retro gaming, i did a lil modfying to the laptop but its a dell latitude 7290 with the 256gb ssd but i have upgraqded that to a 500gb m.2 and 16gb of faster memory also cleaned the heatsink fins and used grizzly thermal paste. i currently have it set up to my 4k living room tv running ppsspp 30fps-60 in some games perfectly fine, it get a little warm but i have 3 90mm pc fans attached to the 3d printed mount that it sits on and it cools the system very nicely and isnt all that loud. def quieter than my ps4 and gaming pc.

1366 * 768 res monitors on these kind of laptops are always welcome, so you don't have to stress the already weak GPU with 1080p.
The important thing for me is that it has a matte surface.
I disagree a 1366x768 in 2020 is not timely in 2020 even for a budget laptop. My Sony Vaio 14' from 2010 had a 1366x768 display and was as thin as this laptop.
Same, don’t care at all about the res, as long as it’s matte and has OK viewing angles.
1366x768 is realy bad, the resolution is to low even for office stuff. I have a Fujitsu laptop from 2010 and it has the same resolution and the screen its just horrible because of that resolution. In my opinion a Laptop in 2020 should have at least a 1080p Panel, better would be with IPS.
Joystick Salami I am still stuck with 1280x800. 1366x768 is better but 1080p HD panels are the norm.
You know that you can decrease the resolution in games? 720p/768p in 2020 is just Bad. Even 100$ phones come with 1080p now.
Im skipping this gen and wait for TigerLake.. hopefully core i3 have native tb4 support, should be good enough to pair with gtx1650super or rx5500XT
Hey eta, Amazon has the galaxy book 2 for only 300 dollars on Amazon renewed shipping with prime and it has the snapdragon 850....could be an emulation beast and runs full windows 10

If I remember correctly the Halo 3 port was really badly done in the first place which can explain a lot.
So, maybe dumb question: the machine has one ram chip, and then extra ram integrated into the motherboard. Does that still classify as "dual-channel" ram? Given that there are two ram sources here, I take it that this will outperform standard single-channel memory. How does that onboard ram affect upgrades?
Next up....Please do emulation all the way up to systems that are glitchy! Would really like to know it limits on retro gaming.

I have a V14ARE 14" Lenovo. I am Very satisfied with the Ryzen 5 one that is a tere higher than the I3. The Ryzen 5 4200U keeps up fine. I can run GTA 5 @ 800x600 @ 60HZ and it for the most part is smooth. It is around 600 dollars so be prepared to pa a little more. Also the screen is 1920x1080 res and looks good. I upgraded mine with a 2TB WD Green SSD in addition to the NVME 256 GB drive. That makes it so I have plenty of storage for another 200 if you can get the SSD anymore. I got 2TB because I don't want to mess with storage again. I also wonder if it will go higher than 12 GB of memory with a 16GB stick of memory. Never know. I have seen it before. I don't have DDR4 on hand to try.

Emulation is awesome at least with SNES9X with BRZ6 enabled @ 1920x1080. That's maxed graphics enhancement. I am sure that Game cube will be good when Dalphin works perfectly on the New Super Mario Brothers with the sand blowing.
Can't go wrong with these Lenovo Laptops. There awesome, and they boot fast.
Everyone should not forget that AMD is a option on these. Ryzen 5 is good. AMD is way better than they used to be. ETA Prime should try a AMD version.

I dont know if it matters on an 10th gen processor, but on my 4th gen i5, at 4gigs of ram I experienced a lot of intermittent pausing on GTA5 while driving through some parts of the city, it wasn't until I bumped it up to 8 gigs that it played without issue. I just through I'd drop that bit just incase anyone buys this and experienced a similar issue.
Could you test the bluetooth in your emulation video? I use an Xbox One S bluetooth gamepad.
The prices for this laptop in my country are ridiculouly expensive and it is not even the 10th gen version. About USD 530 converted back to dollar for a 7th gen and 4GB of ram. Beautiful
