The first time I heard this song was the moment everything clicked, and I realized that Babymetal as a group works because Suzuka Nakamoto is a certified bad-ass. She leaves you zero room for doubting whether she has the talent and skill to front a metal band.
People really understate the vocals by su-metal. This band would have been dead on arrival if they didnt have this vocalist. She is legitimately one of the best of all time. People seriously underestimate how hard it is to kill notes like this.
This song is one of my absolute favourites. I love the play with time signatures and the cool, haunting mood. But most of all I love the melody of the chorus, it's quite complex, but also has this hauntingly beautiful mood. Even without understanding the lyrics, you can feel that the theme must be a little darker than BABYMETAL's usual uplifting lyrics.
Welcome back to the Foxhole.🦊🤘🔥 I could swear i saw you reacting to this song before, maybe it's a clip took from a stream? Maybe I'm confused with another duo. Anyway always glad to see you're back once again with another suggestion over a song composed by YuppeMetal (aka Yuyoyuppe), you'll hear more songs from him, he's also behind "Karate", the arrangements of Megitsune (you already saw) and more new songs from latest album like Monochrome and Believing. "Akumu No Rondo" (or Rondo Of Nightmare) combines not only heaviness with dark waltz and dope time signatures changes but also delicate and fragile elegance that makes you want to grab your inception kit and go to rescue this 16 yo queen from this nightmare. Temporarily title song was "Kill The Alice" so it is like Alice but instead of Wonderland she's trapped in a nightmare trying to escape and avoid some evil entity. Rondo is a musical form in which you can hear a repetitive pattern, an example of this could be the song "Blue Rondo a la Turk". The Kami Band is doing their second magnificent intro of the night with their own set called "Mischiefs Of Metal Gods". They become regular after this special live at Budokan 2014 and leaving baby-bones, from early shows, behind, shout-out to them thou. You already know some of them from your previous reaction, such Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars, BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums, this time Leda Cygnus is the first guitar. This was the day (night) after the first live premiere of this song and she's dancing and performing like she already did a dozen times before, like a pro. Also she's showing some fierceness here dancing on that high dangerous mini stage with no wire and that's how she keeps winning everyone's heart. But not everything was perfect here despite their impeccable performance and sound, and the day before the girls face that dangerous challenge on the stage, taking their own revenge after coming back in 2021 to celebrate their 10 years and leaving those ghosts behind, fortunately. Like i said, YuppeMetal is the one behind this song and he took inspiration from "Protest The Hero - Bloodmeat" song, of course i recommend you to hear that blaster song. Thanks for sharing this wonderful SuMetal solo and my favorite along with "Akatsuki" (live at Budokan 2014 is another great choice) The other solos are great too and those are: - No Rain No Rainbow live at Legend S 2017 - Amore live at Wembley Arena 2016. And of course the rest of the girls under a subgroup called "Black Babymetal" are enjoyable too, they're taking a break here while SuMetal is performing to come back later, so don't miss out on their other 4 songs too such: - "Onedari Daisakusen" live at Legend 1997, Gans Tomas got that clip safe to react. - "Song 4" or "4 No Uta" live at Budokan 2014. - "GJ!" live at Wembley Arena 2016 - "Sis Anger" live at Tokyo Dome 2016". Although i would love to keep digging into early era songs i think is time to meet new songs from the new album The Other One before the year ends. Next suggestion: - METALIZM official MV, so far none of the new songs at official is getting blocked issues, so don't worry about it. Kitsune up and see you next time guys.🦊🤘🔥
Welcome back, its been too long. Great reaction. This is one of 4 Su-metal solos, two on each of the first two albums. The others are 'Akatsuki', 'Amore' and 'No Rain, No Rainbow'. Yui and Moa would get a break while Su performed those - Su would get a break when Yui and Moa performed one of their duets - they were called Black BABYMETAL for those and they also had two on each of the first two albums (4 No Uta' or Song 4, Onedari Daisakusen', 'GJ' and 'Sis Anger'). The Kami Band intro here is called 'Mischiefs of the Metal Gods'. In order of solos - Leda Cygnus (blue guitar), Takayoshi Ohmura (gold guitar), BOH (6 string bass) and Hideki Aoyama (drums). There can't be many 16 year olds who could follow that intro and then just take over the whole stage and arena the way Su did. I understand rondo is a musical term denoting a repeated theme - something like that anyway. I believe they borrowed the term for the title of this song as Su is caught in a recurring nightmare, being chased through the darkness by something she can't see. Eventually she hides, but it is still coming closer. Knowing there is no escape she asks that if she is to die won't it at least reveal itself to her. This was early March 2014. They played two nights at the Budokan in Tokyo (think the equivalent of Carnegie Hall or Madison Square Garden - it is the place all Japanese artists aspire to play), Red Night and Black Night, becoming the youngest average age female band ever to headline there. They had just released their first album - they sold out both nights. 🤘🦊🤘 They were back at the Budokan as part of their 10th anniversary celebration and played 10 shows over the first 3 or 4 months of 2021.
Great reaction. One of my favorite songs/performances of babymetal. Love su-metals voice. Go to see them live in December. Finally. The instrumental section is not part of the song and is called “Mischiefs of Metal Gods”. Thanks for this reaction.
Welcome back and great reaction, thanks! Yes, you are right, this sounds amazing. Their whole performance at the Budokan 2014 (my first BABYMETAL Blu-ray) and particularly Su-metal's solos, was what made me a die-hard fan. My story about becoming a fan (from being a typical metalhead) was roughly like this: phase 1: initial shock because of the vocals, the dance aspect and the juxtaposition with the heavy instrumentals. Phase 2: increasing interest because of the Kami Band's members incredible skills. And phase 3: becoming a huge fan because of Su-metal. I know it's more complex than that, but it's a fair summary. 😊 "Rondo of Nightmare" is probably their darkest song lyrically. It's about Su being trapped into an endless nightmare, without any chance to escape, where she's chased by a dark entity as she tries to run away and hide from. Finally, she gives up and asks the entity to show its real nature. Until next time! 🤘🦊
My favorite part of this song is the haunting Piano. So so underrated. It’s a beautiful instrument, and it can fit into any genre, from opera to pop to metal. Love it in metal 🔥
Kamiband : We're gonna blow your minds with our awesome solos! Sumetal : Hold my matcha latte.... Love watching the drummer Hideki in this, when the camera pan to him in the beginning, he looks like he's just casually drumming and not responsible for the machine like pounding in the background with the double kicks. Most singers might get intimidated having to follow the spectacular performance by the Kamiband, but 16yr old Su just gets up there, and shows you why Babymetal was built around her. 🤘🦊🤘
The performance by the band solo is great. However, as soon as the vocal appears and starts singing, everyone gasps at her beauty and recognizes that she is the protagonist.❤
This performance was filmed live at the famous Nippon Budokan arena, which was built for the martial arts events of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. They always perform in the round at this venue because it is octagonal shaped so they come up with some interesting stage designs, although I don't think any of the Budokan set ups have been as elaborate as the one they did for Tokyo Dome 2016, which was something else.
Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。I am very surprised that you had not reacted to this song yet until today. This is one of the songs that I am longing for their revivals by New BABYMETAL. "Rondo" is a musical form with a recurring leading theme. I can't tell how many times I have viewed this video. It is literally a rondo of happy dream for me. Kamis' (=Gods') super solos were excellent enough as a main event in the show, but once the 16-year-old Queen (as of 2014) emerged from the underground, she colored everything differently with her penetrating voice then turned Kami Band's plays into a ritual to summon her.
It's amazing to see a 16 yr old girl come up and sing with power and quality that matches the band. Sumetal may be the only one who could have pulled that off.
Thanks for your reaction to this; a good reaction. There is a lot going on in this song. And I assure you, you'll still be picking up new things after listening to it many, many times later. As a classical/electrical guitar, flute, and bad keyboard player, the musicians here astound me every time. But I'd like to point out a few things that few people seem to pick up on in recent reviews. 1) The drums. We don't hear many drum solos in modern music. But this is SO overlooked. The guy is a machine and a massively tallented musician. 2) Su's composure. She has an undeniable massive vocal talent. But being elevated on that small stage would freak the heck out of me. Let alone needing to move about on it in time with the music while still managing perfectly composed vocal. Just wow. So thanks for a good reaction and making me re-watch this performance 😊.
"Rondo of Nightmare" is probably the most serious BM song. It's about fighting against depression and at the end losing the fight. I *suppose* it's an allusion and a homage to Yui and her health problems. Watch Su's gestures and the light show under this aspect (e.g. at the end Su is "captured" in a cage formed by the spotlights).
People always attracted to that bass solo, maybe because its not common especially on metal band, and Bo really did it well. When vocal start, always silent and trying to counting the pattern 😁 123, 123 , 123 Great song
Good reaction. Babymetal has the ability to convert the sometimes dark "power" of metal into "Positive Energy". When you finish listening to a Babymetal song, inevitably, you will do so with a smile and better spirits. This is something that BabyMetal has brought to the metal universe: a vision that things can be done differently and not lose their main essence.
That intro, as you called it, by the Kami Band is a song itself titled Mischiefs Of Metal Gods. It gives the band some time to shine, and they do shine brightly!
Great video, great reactions always, keep it up. If I could so humbly recommend you guys react to Arkadia, it's frikin epic and Su's voice in that and the guitars are just amazing. Just a thought, maybe for the next one.
Cool reaction!!!!! Did you know: LOVEBITES just released a new video from their LIVE concert back in April? (The Hammer of Wrath) Fami's first LIVE performance with LOVEBITES!!!!!! So, so awesome will blow you away!!!!!!!!
I was looking for Reactions to Babymetal and chose you guys because of your name "Songs and Thongs" which i think is funny. That was the reason for me to check this reaction 😀I I liked your reaction and Babymetal is proof that in music one does not have to understand the words, because i do not understand/know Japanese. And i guess you don't, too. But sill we have the same opinion that their music is great and that they all (inkluding the Band) are doing a really great job again and again.
Hey guys ....love the channel.....Su's performance was amazing and what can you say about the Kami band!!!!!!! Incredible......If you liked this check out Mirror Mirror Video off their new album...The One. The guitar work will absolutely blow you away and the girls have really matured vocally.
The. instrumental and solo song served as a vital intermission in the concert so Yui and Moa could rest and rehydrate. Their routines require a high degree of cardio that wouldn’t be sustainable without a break
Hey, I just came from your 2 year old video (Nightwish response) and you look different, I mean so good, Sharlene is beautiful, nice hair, Herman looks more fit? Wow, nice change :)
In reference to your thoughts around 8:30 ish, I'd say it's "unbridled power" followed by "controlled power" in a way that exploits that contrast to good effect. Not to say the instrumental is *not* controlled, but that it gives that effect in contrast to the vocals. Edit: 11:50 ish "What I like about the mix....sorry, I'm rambling but..." -- so uhh, do ramble more! That's literally the premise of a "reaction" video, is it not? Obviously every jurisdiction will have different laws regarding "fair use" and such, but it's probably a fair general rule that the more you add to / "transform" the content you're reacting to the better chance it has to not be considered copyright infringement. RUclips's implementation of copyright enforcement might not care, I guess; I actually don't know. What I do know is that when I watch videos like this I'm far more likely to watch more videos from that channel when the creators express insights into the content which I may not have realized myself.
I SCROLLED DOWN A BIT AND SAW NO SONG PLOT SPELLED OUT. A NIGHT TERROR DEMON IS CHASING SU IN A NIGHTMARE. SHE KNOWS SHE WILL DIE AND REQUESTS TO SEE THE DEMON BEFORE SHE DIES. I THINK? I MAY HAVE GOT PARTS WRONG BUT THAT IS THE GIST OF IT? ANYWAY, SOUNDS LIKE METAL LYRICS TO ME.
A professional drummer had a hard time figuring out the time signatures on this song. Probably part of the reason this song isn’t played live often. 👊🏽⚡️It would be awesome to hear Su-metals 25 yr old voice ripping this song🦊🤘🏾
yes you dont know because usa does nt produce any new bands any news sound anymore .they produce only the old things look at the grammys each yearis the same beyonce etc
BM is odd, you almost have a bit of pride at how well they have done. They suffered a lot of disconnect from the metal community but blazed their path anyhow regardless of old guard stubbornness. Now bad for a initial gimmick band that caught on fire.
SU-METAL's talent as a performer is immeasurable.
It's a long way from the Karen Girls that she started out with as a kid.

A number of famous rock music acts have played at Budokan. The Beatles were the first rock group to play there in a series of concerts held between June 30 and July 2, 1966. ABBA ended their last tour there. Their final show on March 27, 1980, was the last live concert ABBA performed together. Numerous acts have recorded live albums at Budokan, including Bryan Adams, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Cheap Trick, Dream Theater, Duran Duran, Kiss, Mr. Big, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Journey and Deep Purple.

Lyrics Overview:-
"Rondo Of Nightmare (悪夢の輪舞曲; Akumu No Rondo)"

The waning moon has lit up
the insanity rampant in the shade
The laughter resounds around
It bares its fangs and its eyes gleam
I can’t escape from it
It flickers slowly
appearing and disappearing in my mind
A nightmare rondo is being repeated
The awakening light
is gone far away out of my sight
I can do nothing but run
through the darkness
In the woods, in the fountain
I hide myself holding my breath
but it’s still coming closer to me
A stagnant voice. An endless night
Ah…
If I can no longer get out of here
won’t you show me your figure?
It flickers slowly
appearing and disappearing in my mind
A nightmare rondo is being repeated
The awakening light
is gone far away out of my sight
I can do nothing but fall
into the darkness

Some cymbal and drums in the background this time. Keep it up, The Fox God will love it!
Hello all. Nice one thank you
Welcome to my world.
&
Thank you
This is one of my all time favourite songs of BabyMetal.
Any day is a good day for Babymetal! Great job and Rock On, you two! 🤘🦊🤘
Remember that Su was just 16 at the time of this concert. Amazing then, even better now.
People always attracted to that bass solo, maybe because its not common especially on metal band, and Bo really did it well.
When vocal start, always silent and trying to counting the pattern 😁 123, 123 , 123
Great song
I love your comments and your enthusiasm, it's really a group that sends heavy, christian From France
Let's do it ! A shot for everytime they say "nice" 😂
This is how babymetal introduce their band which highlight each one of them. Good shit. Welcome to the fox hole
Masterpiece ❤❤
nice reaction🦊❤
Thanks for the reaction. Great song and a great performance of it.
An impeccable presentation 🖤🖤🖤
That intro, as you called it, by the Kami Band is a song itself titled Mischiefs Of Metal Gods. It gives the band some time to shine, and they do shine brightly!
Great video, great reactions always, keep it up.
If I could so humbly recommend you guys react to Arkadia, it's frikin epic and Su's voice in that and the guitars are just amazing.
Just a thought, maybe for the next one.
They are One Take theater performance professionals.
🎶🎶🦊👁️👁️🦊🎶🎶
I'll take the Pepsi challenge with this band vs what we have in the states any day of the week and twice on Sundays! They are that badass!!🤘🌹
I believe that the "Kami Band" of this era is the best.
That was the reason for me to check this reaction 😀I
I liked your reaction and Babymetal is proof that in music one does not have to understand the words, because i do not understand/know Japanese. And i guess you don't, too. But sill we have the same opinion that their music is great and that they all (inkluding the Band) are doing a really great job again and again.
Hey guys ....love the channel.....Su's performance was amazing and what can you say about the Kami band!!!!!!! Incredible......If you liked this
check out Mirror Mirror Video off their new album...The One. The guitar work will absolutely blow you away and the girls have really matured vocally.
Babymetal - Tales of the Destinies (Tokyo Dome Live 2016)

@Songs and Thongs - you guys are missing out on a great reaction to Babymetal Death Legend 1997. !!! You'll love it
I finally get to see them live September 17th in Michigan!
Have you ever heard a Heavy Metal Waltz before? Now you have. :)
Full screen the actual video with a small reaction window. I guess that's my opinion. Do what you do! Love y'all.
The. instrumental and solo song served as a vital intermission in the concert so Yui and Moa could rest and rehydrate. Their routines require a high degree of cardio that wouldn’t be sustainable without a break
Hola Guys... From Puerto Rico!!!
BUDOKAN IS A SPECIAL PLACE
Hey, I just came from your 2 year old video (Nightwish response) and you look different, I mean so good, Sharlene is beautiful, nice hair, Herman looks more fit? Wow, nice change :)
Awww man thanks so much for this cool comment. Much appreciated
NEXT LEVEL SHIT RIGHT HERE!!!
amazing
The kami band has insane,,n su singing voice from heaven
😁

🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
Even if you don't like this, the guys in that band are prodigies...
Babymetal Akatsuki and Papaya 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
You guys haven't react to Babymetal's newer album? React to mirror mirror.
You havent reacted to any songs from their new album...They are a lot older now and better! ...in my opinion;)
That's controversial
@@apoc519 Changed it for you;)

Su must be 80% lung.
From how much sound comes from our tiny queen ! You are probably right 😁🤘🏼🦊
今度GALNERYUSも聞いてみて!
yes you dont know because usa does nt produce any new bands any news sound anymore .they produce only the old things look at the grammys each yearis the same beyonce etc
You need to reac to Falling In Reverse - Last Resort (Reimagined) now :) :)
We did in one of our livestreams but recorded it as a standalone as well and it is scheduled for this Friday (04 Aug 23)
BM is odd, you almost have a bit of pride at how well they have done. They suffered a lot of disconnect from the metal community but blazed their path anyhow regardless of old guard stubbornness. Now bad for a initial gimmick band that caught on fire.
papa ya vs sabaton ;D
The sound literally cut out halfway through your video and never came back on
You are the only one that has mentioned this so maybe something on your end?
@@SongsandThongs possibly, I'll have to watch it again.
VOB-whats the holyy
NEXT LISTEN TO THE NEW LOVEBITES SONG LIVE WITH THEIR NEW BASSIST FAMI
