Congrats on having newly found sisters. In 1991 when my mom was 75, I found her half sister who was 58. They became good friends for maybe 15 years, then a troublemaker convinced my aunt that our part of the family had snubbed theirs (not true) and they fell out of touch. My mom was not perturbed by that. She said "I was fine without her for 75 years, I'll be fine without her for however long now." Mom died just short of 97 without further contact. The aunt died much later, and by then my kids had established contact with one of my aunt's grandkids, so we actually attended the funeral on good terms.
So, enjoy the adventure and grow close if that feels right. But always know that (just as with a relationship) someone new in your life who hasn't known you forever, might be a friend forever, or might be a temporary blessing in your life that ends unexpectedly for reasons not yet known.
Like my mom, appreciate whatever good happens from it, but don't let it turn your life upside down if it goes south at some point.

I visited friends for many years around Thanksgiving and you could see the Superstition Mtns fron their house. That was in Apache Junction. We would go horseback riding in the desert. Just loved it. So glad you and your sister had a nice week together. Take care.

last year in the Air Force in Tucson, Az. 1967. My wife and I almost bought a home in Az, but too hot and not enough Wash.
trees - so we built a home in Cebu, Philippines. Way more heat and humidity and NO Evergreens - go figure.. Wife is Filipino, so maybe.

I can vouch for that, but like always you have to watch out for the mud line. I found that out the hard way, even though I was very careful with the time somehow I still end up getting some and got sick. But it didn't last long I was fine the next day. But yes you're right about Maryland crabs they're awesome. And a little bit of butter goes a long way

No scorpions for me. Same for other creepy bugs. Had a large centipede crawl out from inside of a couch I was siting on when I was a kid. One of those big desert centipedes.

That is really awesome 👏!! Glad you found your 2 sisters!!Yikes 100 degree weather!! My middle daughter can't stand spiders either. Those cacti are beautiful, and yes when i think of cacti. Sagora lake is very peaceful looking and beautiful!! Your meal looked very good. I don't if i would go scorpion hunting and only wearing flip-flops! I didn't find out I had 2 sisters until my late teens( from my Dads 1st marriage). Due to circumstances at the time I ended up not meeting them face to face until I was early 40s. One lives in Hawaii and the other in Washington. I visited both, and actually visit the Washington one quite often since we drive to visit our 4 daughters and 2 grandsons. Thanks for sharing your time with sister. May you have many more opportunities to have adventures together.

Yeah I'm leaving Arizona this weekend for my summer job in Park city Utah. Still snow there. My sister lives in Park city. But we are not on speaking terms. Sad, but that's reality. Sarah I'm glad you are spending quality time with family.

Hi Sarah. It is so cool you got to hook up with your sister for a while. The desert was beautiful with the cactuses and the spring flowers. I would have taken dozens of pictures. lots of shots for your calendar next year if you have one. Question is your sister a Dodgers fan. Noticed the hat and was wondering. Congratulations on meeting and hanging with your sister! What a wonderful discovery!!! And Wow, I can't believe you were in my back yard! I was just at Usury Park last Friday! Yes, the scorpions are VERY active now... they have been for several weeks (I dispatched 8-10 surrounding my back patio the other night)! That reflective patch under the bush, I am pretty certain you were seeing part of a scorpion body with the rest of it partially hidden under the rocks... they have a very peculiar bright, greenish glow... they almost don't look real under the black light... they look almost like a reflective sticker. Also, good swimming in Saguaro Lake... there is a beach down at the end. I actually parked at the beach and hiked there, on a nice trail, last Thursday. It took me 5 years, after I moved here, to pronounce Saguaro correctly... the gu has a "wa" pronunciation. Suh wa row. After nearly 20 years of looking at Saguaros, I never grow tired of them. I must try that seafood restaurant!

I stayed at Usery for quite a long time in the winter of 2014/2015. Wait til the shooting range starts up LOL Take the back road to Roosevelt lake. A beautiful drive. Black light AKA Ultra Violet. The short wavelength end of the light spectrum. The long wavelengths are Infrared, like an infrared heat lamp.

That's pretty cool to have those black lights, fluorescent flashlights. And you're correct scorpions will glow when those lights are signed on them. I learned that by watching the opal Hunters on RUclips because they use it to show the opal it shines in the dark. But you also have to be aware that scorpions will glow as well. So you should always watch where you're putting hands, and feet and always check your shoes. I learned that from my uncle when I was a kid and when we visited Texas. That was been afraid of them ever since and always check my shoes even when I come home, cuz I don't like spiders either. But I'm not afraid of them, unless they're poisonous. And then I'll make a quick exit stage left😂

Ha ha! I bought a Prickly Pear in a market in Palermo,Sicily.I picked it up before the man could stop me,I didn’t do it a second time,the spines drove me nuts for days!🇬🇧☮️🇺🇸🍷🍺❤️💯.
I love that you suddenly have family! Did you find boondocking spots in N. CA and OR? I spent some time boondocking near Tucson, but didn't see any creepy spiders. (I'm heading that way very soon!)

Arizona is a great place to visit in the winter, but it sure has gotten crowded down there in the last 20 years. Just keep an eye open for snakes and scorpions! Shake out the scorpions from your shoes every morning before putting them on!
They put that spider there just for you to enjoy!
The Cactus are cool! Did you know there were scorpions in Georgia? Two types, Southern Devil and the Striped Scorpion. Seen them at Ft. Stewart. Who would have thunk?! Not sure if they glow or not. Not a big fan of those critters myself. I am always on the lookout for rattle snakes in my area. Thankfully the weather has them still in their dens. So far we have only seen a couple days in the 80's. Still have frozen mix in the forecast.
