Legendary Vancouver punk rockers as seen in Director Dennis Hopper's "Out of the Blue".
The opening track is lip-sync'd, and after 1'10" you get a short live performance.
One of my favourite high school T-shirts
The girl watching the drummer is Linda Manz, the amazing young actress from from Days of Heaven. I think this was one of the only other movies she was ever in. And Pointed Sticks are amazing.
She was pretty memorable in The Wanderers too, and came back as an adult in Gummo.
Pee-Wee!
So wholesome when she's drumming.
Out Of The Blue movie. The ending is pretty sick. Love Hopper
Dimwit was such a beast on the drums. His little brother Chuck Biscuits was just as good.
One of the Pointed Sticks members became a high school band teacher at my cousins Vancouver school in the late 2000's.
Bill Naiper Hemy!
Pointed Sticks are the greatest Canadian power pop band ever. No question.
Teenage Head was good too. They were in the movie class of 1984
Heheh...I was in that movie...just a brief street scene harassing a cop..heh. It was directed by Dennis Hopper....who was outta his mind on various substances & booze at the time - I spent an hour in his trailer with him...heheh! Hilarious! I told him 'punks harrassed cops for kicks' - and he bought it! It was pure chaos - but fun. I don't think it ever got released did it?
Dimwit was a monster behind the kit!
You're all wrong this footage is amazing!. I have a copy of this weirdfantastic film on dvd; the only copy I've ever seen. Dennis Hopper was way ahead of the curve. Punk Rock!
The movie from whence this came is a fucking classic movie that left me in shock at the end. Unreal. Pointed Sticks forever. Now, I must find this movie on DVD
I just suggest watching it. Fucking insane ending. The Sticks were great in it as well.
I love this band.
Hey Jimbo. the movie did get released. "Out of the Blue". Like I said, that movie left me so fucking stunned at the end, that I never forgot it.
Looks like the Viking Hall on hastings
We had our grad there LOL and Rickshaw tonight to see Pointed Sticks
CUTIE IN THE BLUE SWEATER!! 1:35
Excellent. Have a good one.
Alright thanks....If I find it one day, I will :)
Cheers
J.
The lead singer looks just like one of the guys who was in most of Whit Stilman's movies.
Hey, do you have the footage of the Dishrags??? Or know how to get it??? I would love to see that as they were one of my fave bands. I have to look for the movie..
What's the name of this film?
Thank you so much!!!
@101princess RIP.
Does anyone know where I could find this video?
It did huh?? Wow...I never knew. Stunned? Why? What happened at the end? I can't remember - shit - not even sure if I ever saw the finished article...
DIMWIT!
I miss Dimwit, younger version of Keith Moon!
Antoine Ridel Totally!
He was an incredible drummer and even more incredible person!
OMG yes! I'm from Australia, and the copy I watched look so dodgy. Was expecting the film to be shit, but I loved it. Wonder why it wasn't packaged better...?
Looks like it was filmed in YVR in 2011 and they just yanked in all the hipsters off the street.
there is no green day, foo fighters, mxpx, nofx, offspring, etc... without the pointed sticks... worst of all... there is no Matt Freeman (Rancid) without this influence. there might not be a brian richie without the pointed sticks... think about that.
I used to have this movie. It's pretty bad and they play this Neil Yound song out of the blue every other scene. Worth watching if you want a laugh. The Pointed Sticks are the good part, and the overdubbed music isn't done well at all.
