Glock triggers feel “spongy” because the Glock is essentially a double action system. The striker is half cocked prior to pulling the trigger. The timney alpha is super crisp because it fully cocks the striker
I believe it really depends on your personal preference and intended use. The stock Glock trigger is reliable and works well for most purposes, especially self-defense.

I’ve been a police firearms instructor for over 30 years with multiple and various Glock firearms- well over 300,000 documented rounds fired. I absolutely love the Gen 1, 2, and 3 factory triggers in 3.5 lb (- trigger bar). Yes I own HK, Sig, Beretta, SW, Ruger, CZ, Canik, Springfield, and Colt, but I will always CC a Glock.
I have the Timney Alpha trigger in my Glock 45 and it is absolutely fantastic & amazing. Hands down best trigger I have ever used. Great video & great stuff 👊
The Timney trigger isn't drop safe. In my opinion, that's a no-go, especially for competition! I've seen a lot of people fall during IDPA and USPSA competitions, why the heck would you want to use a trigger or any gun that isn't drop safe for competition? The Glock Performance Trigger copies the principle of the Timney trigger, but is still drop safe! I put a minus connector on mine and it breaks at just 3 pounds, very little overtravel, very short reset. It's perfect for competition and EDC.
I respectfully disagree. The Timney retains the use of the trigger safety blade and striker safety plunger, so it should be drop safe. Please let me know if you can explain why the Timney is not drop safe.
I tried the GPT, it's very nice, but it just gets sticky after about 300 rounds, despite all directions followed. Frankly, it seems antithetical for Glock to have to follow some ritualistic cleaning and oiling schedule. OEM is my preference.
A Glock's entire purpose is to be boringly reliable without the risk of trying to excel at anything else. To get a better trigger, I go with a CZ or a 1911.
I’ve always said this, but i think people have been spoiled with how much after market support there is with glocks. It’s to the point where people think glocks are like build a bear. Glock triggers are absolutely not the best, but they work and are as reliable as they can be. Realistically the only thing i think people should change out first about their glocks are the sights. But aside from that there’s nothing wrong with stock glocks. And if we’re being honest if you can’t effectively use a pistol without it having a near perfect trigger, you may need to look at yourself before you start blaming the gun. now don’t get me wrong, i love upgrading glocks, but i’m also not naive enough to think you need to do anything to them
No one said you have to. No one’s saying you can’t effectively use the stock trigger. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t better parts out there. And the gun SHOULD be build a bear. You should built a gun to fit your style, life and comfort
The Timney Alpha trigger is in a league of its own. I have one on a spare range gun but also would not want to use it on my carry or HD gun. I've tried a lot of different triggers on my Glocks, tried different connectors (minus, dot, ghost) and different trigger bar springs. In the end, I've come to really like the factory Glock trigger with a polished bar & connector (either from a dremel or using 400-2000 grit sand paper), and using a Tango Down flat trigger shoe on the factory bar. That is what's in my carry G19 and HD G17 and the trigger pull & feel is the same on both - very smooth and crisp.
Yes with a trigger system from Jonny Glock. If you want the best you have to buy the whole trigger system. Flat face Trigger shoe with trigger bar rear housing and striker . Trigger control is control.
Maybe 🤔 I’m the one who don’t know better but for me Glock 23 40. and 19 gen 3 and 4 I don’t mind the factory trigger with more than 1000 rounds on them and finger discipline I’m I’m really happy with it and I’m efficient with it I think 🤔 training is the key 🔑 for becoming better and efficient with it
I have to say that I agree with this. I think that stock Glock trigger could be a lot better, for me as an intermediate shooter (self proclaimed). But as I have gotten better, I don’t see the trigger upgrade as essential as I once did. And for high pressure shooting, like friendly comps and local shoots, the difference between stock and performance is rather marginal. I’d rather invest in slide milling for direct optic mounting or a good compensator and barrel combo. Or porting. Just my opinion though.
1. Buy more mags 2. Night sights 3. Pick correct backstrap, grips 4. Holster 5. Ammo and range time. 6. Trigger? I think the trigger is one of the things glock does right.
5000 rounds in on a zev pro trigger connector and its been 100 percent reliable in my g19 gen 5. Definitely improved my trigger feel and with a nice trigger polish job it's great.
Ive owned a g19 since gen2 came out. The only thing I do is put night sights on. My Gen5 G19 has TruGlo Tritium Pros. I'm so used to the stock Glock trigger that I usually out-shoot, or at least stay competitive, with it against my friends and their blinged up gats.
As someone whom recently started researching firearms I know for sure the one thing that should [and I will] change on a glock is the stock factory sights on it. Every video I see about glocks mentions that the sights are just mucho no bueno.
Yes. Replace. Timney Alpha Comp for the MF win. But you better be able to manage a 3.5 trigger. Made me fall back in love with my G19. Keep your booger picker off the bang switch until you need to fire and you won't have to worry about ND's.
The trigger is why I don’t want another Glock and grip angle. I just hated shooting with it. It’s long full of take and heavy. I got the Glock performance trigger the 5 pound one and it instantly helped me shoot better with my Glock. I’m not expert and I understand his thinking completely can’t argue with that but it got too much mush, take up and slack all combined with a mile long travel before the break for me. If I get another Glock i must replace that trigger. It’s a must for me. I doubt I do because you gotta replace so many things on it to make it enjoyable to shoot for me.
Johnny Glock Combat Trigger in my 4th gen G17. His competition trigger is probably great too but i cant imagine how light it is, since the Combat trigger is already light enough.
I tried the GPT, it's very nice, but it just gets sticky after about 300-400 rounds, despite all directions followed. Frankly, it seems antithetical for Glock to have to follow some ritualistic cleaning and oiling schedule. OEM is my preference.
I think, and i'm not trying to be silly, but maybe have a survey or contest for changing the background music. I'm sure there's thousands of royalty-free versions available. Maybe do a top 10 or top 5 that you all think might work, and then play them for the viewers and find out which one is the best. You could also put the other 4 into semi-rotation to change it up now and then. I figured this would be a good place to make the suggestion to see if it gets any traction. Love the videos, just wish there was some different background music. Thanks so much!
Robbie Wheaton at Wheaton Arms in SC has the best Glock trigger on the market. He has Duty/Cary and Competition packages. For the best feel add his striker block too. He is a small manufacturer so he doesn't get the deserved love and attention.
For me, for concealed carry, no. Because 1) you lose the possible reliability Glock has with the gun possibly going off when bumped and the trigger not going off when needed and 2) in a defensive shooting, making an overzealous prosecutor press charges. But for other cases where the Glock won't be inside the waistband at all, sure.
