The Glock shouldn't be in this comparison. Because yet again they rely on aftermarket to be equal. Also it has a massive flashlight hanging over to reduce recoil. The shadow systems would have been a better comparison.

So glock is the best bang for buck. All trusted guns. Dont own any hellcats so cant speak bout them. Shot my friends xmacro and its okay. While I agree that nuances like recoil impulses and trigger feel affect the shooting experience, what matters to me most is combat effectiveness. Without actually getting into a gunfight, the next best overall test that I have found is the FBI qual. It is objective, varied range, varied rapidity, requires holster draws, and strong & weak one handed shooting. Anything that helps in either speed or score I keep. Anything that doesn’t goes bye bye. If the comp helps, then 👍, otherwise 👎. Besides, maybe the P365 being snappy (which I agree that it is) isn’t because the comp isn’t doing its job, but rather that the recoil spring is letting the slide bottom out. I am getting a DPMS spring kit to see if that helps. So far, I keep coming back to my Beretta PX4 Compact Carry. No fancy comp, but it just makes the qual easier.

Comps are at the end of the barrel. Usually attached to the barrel but now come as part of the slide. Ports or Poppel Holes are in the barrel at the top. They are separate things but can be combined. The P365 X Macro IS A Comped gun. The other guns are Comped with Ports or poppel holes. In USPSA there are OPEN Guns that are comped and Open Guns that have a comp and poppel holes. Do rifles with a comp on the end of the barrel have poppel holes in them? No they don't.

So a solid barrel that ends and then has an extension added that allows the gasses to be directed upward is a comp....the part added to the end of the barrel.
Ports are milled into the barrell and allow the gasses to be directed upward before the bullet leaves the barrel.
Both methods perform the same function of COMPENSATING for muzzle rise. And so they say the gun is comped.
Comped via ports or comped via an extension added on called a comp.
And you can also have a comp added on to a ported barrel for more comp power.

Given these are carry guns, firing at very close range (to you as the shooter) would be a possibility in a given situation. Is the trade off with shooting flatter bigger than the chance of losing an eye in a gun fight? I own one and for how small it is it shoots better than most full sizes and for being “not a real comp” it sure performs real damn close to Hellcat comp which is apparently “a real comp”

@ClassicFirearms You' re missing four guns that are compensated from the factory and 50 state compliant.
Shadow Systems Corp DR920P (G34), XR920P (G19x), MR920P (G19), CR920XP (G43X) I'd like to see any or all of these firearms in your next factory comped/ported head-to-head line-up. Please and thank you.

What's the difference between the comp on the sig and the glock it's just a port built into the slide at the end of the barrell it's the exact same thing just the comp is integrated into the slide on the m&p and on the glock it's just an aftermarket attachment that's just put on the slide. But it don't see why that would change anything it's the exact same thing.

The whole idea of a comped gun is to reduce muzzle flip and felt recoil and that is best demonstrated by rapid firing and at the minimum double taps. So he’s really the only one that did it correctly.

If the ONLY thing we want to figure out is how well a gun is compensated and negates muzzle rise, grid paper and high speed cameras are all you'd need to measure which one does the job better eliminating all human variables.
