      Thank you! I appreciate that. Watching some other larger channels myself, a lot of the intros and self-advertisements became unbearable. I've been collecting for 20 years and had a few girlfriends that worked in the industry giving me an inside view on how many of these companies do business. I felt I had an advantage even over larger, more established channels and have grown quickly this year. Thanks for the support!

      Appreciate ya! Quite a few reviewers already have it as the best fragrance release of 2023. I personally love how it keeps the same opening vibe as Jubilation XXV with more wood, ambergris/gourmand notes and overall depth as an exceptional extrait would suggest. Despite the awful packaging, Jubilation 40 is amazing to me!

    Hey Mate I am in the US for the holidays. I agree with you about the packaging and care when you order direct! You pay good money and you expect the quality to be higher than buying from retail! I bought from Xerjoff and the package was amazing! Great review as always! ❤

      Hope you enjoy your time here! And yes, it’s disappointing when you receive something like that packaged so care free, I have private sellers on eBay that send fragrances with way more care and pride than I got directly from Amouage and that should not be the case. I have a few from Xerjoff I will be buying next year such as Uden, Luxor, 1888 and a few more that would fit in with my collection! Can’t wait!!

    Sorry to hear about the disappointing experience... but thanks for saving me some dough. And btw. Why is Amouage resting on past laurels, pushing extraits of old frags and rebottled frags... don't they have any NEW ideas?? Actually if the new ideas are like Meander and Ashore, keep milking the old ones instead...

      I agree! The packaging was very disappointing but thankfully the fragrance itself was what I had been expecting; still not worth the $500 IMO. The only new Amoauge fragrances I have tired that I liked from the post Chong era is Boundless and Silver Oud/Royal Tobacco by the famous Cecile Zarokian. Pretty sure both of those were after he left anyway. I wish they would do all of their old Chong era fragrances in extrait versions; I would love an Overture 50 or a Fate man/Epic man 60. Like you said it would be better and more collectable than most of the new stuff they are putting out 100%

      Yes sir! I mentioned that in the video specifically for that reason and knew when I bought it at retail price it will be discounted. Not sure how long ago you bought the original sample of Jubilation XXV but mine in the black and gold box smells the exact same with the same longevity as my first one many years ago in the white non-magnetic cap. Couple of the grey discounters i buy amouage (and others) from, they pack them so respectfully and so protectively (double wrapped with a ton of clean wrapping tissue paper with a secondary bubble bag around each frag bottle box, all packed with care. I dont expect it from them bc they sell the frags for cheap. But still so respectful of the buyer. One of them also include a thank you note each time. Im shocked Amouage ships them like this for their products. Im sorry to see this.

      I would get a new sample to be absolutely sure! I have not smelled the newest packaging personally of Jubilation XXV, but the newest packaging of Overture and Beach hut are essentially the same as my old samples that have been sitting for years. To me that's a good sign. What's funny is if Amouage stayed perfectly consistent with all the batches, people would be screaming bloody murder they are using synthetics to keep consistency! Sometimes a company just cannot win lol. The fragrance world is an odd place, I find it comical at times. Also, maceration does affect natural fragrances in a profound way, so it is not always prudent to compare a brand-new bottle to one that has been sitting in a well-kept environment for years on end, there will always be differences for that reason alone.

    I have not tried J40 yet. I have heard other reviewers say that there is a slight element of tobacco along with the honey, even though it is nowhere mentioned in the notes. Packaging is disappointing, and more should be expected. I would not let that have any impact on what my nose tells me through the opening, heart, and dry down.

    • @universalfragrance
      @universalfragrance  7 месяцев назад +3

      I could see how others may get a little bit of sweet tobacco! For me, it is more of a slightly sweet marine and Hazelnut note with Oud. As you stated, I did not let the nonchalant packing method effect how I reviewed the fragrance as the fragrance itself is beautiful and very well done! May be worth getting a sample if you love Jubilation XXV.

      A client of mine bought the new one after smelling my old one. Smells the exact same. The longevity and projection are the same as well although many are bringing up the dreaded and overused "reformulated" term. Considering it is one of the flagship fragrances from Amouage and Bertrand Duchaufour is still the perfumer; I doubt they let it slip. New bottle probably just needs to sit and macerate for a while for those quick to complain. I hope this helps 🍻

    It's quite disappointing that you received an unsecured package from the official Amouage. When you purchase an Exceptional Extrait, you expect the service to match its exceptional nature, but unfortunately, it becomes unexceptional.
    I noticed some minor differences between the EDP and Extrait, and overall, they are pretty decent (I tried a sample). However, Reflection 45 stands out with a significant difference. I haven't had the chance to try Jubilation 40 yet. You've tried that one, could you share your rating on a scale of 1 to 10?

    • @universalfragrance
      @universalfragrance  7 месяцев назад +3

      I agree on Reflection 45 vs the regular reflection man. It is still a slightly familiar, fresh and woody floral DNA but not even the same fragrance anymore when you look at all the rich notes they added; personally, I prefer it very much to the original. As for Jubilation XXV and that the Jubilation 40 extrait, I would rank them both around the same depending on the season/situation and I also may be biased because I love both. I would say summertime 9-10 for my version of Jubilation XXV in the black and gold box. The Jubilation 40 extrait I would rate a 9.5-10 during wintertime due to the strength and slight hazelnut gourmand notes with more woods, oud and ambergris. It's a fantastic fragrance and despite the careless way they packed such an incredibly expensive item, I cannot hold that against the liquid inside the bottle. I think as a fellow fan of Jubilation you will really enjoy it and find some diverse usage out of it, just maybe wait until it is discounted to purchase 😉

    • @frian3099
      @frian3099 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@universalfragranceThe transformation in Reflection 45, thanks to the added rich notes, indeed sets it apart from the original. Your preference for it over the original reflects a discerning taste. However, the critique of the careless packaging for Jubilation 40 extrait raises valid concerns. Despite the pricey nature of the item, it's disheartening to hear about such oversight. Your suggestion to wait for a discount acknowledges the value proposition, emphasizing a savvy consumer approach. Your insights are invaluable for those navigating the fragrance landscape.

      @universalfragrance  7 месяцев назад +2

      @@frian3099Appreciate that very much! I certainly do prefer Reflection 45 over the normal as it feels more like an Amouage with those added rich notes. • @frian3099
      @frian3099 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@universalfragrance Ah, Silver Oud has become my favorite this month, alongside Overture Man. The more I wear it, the more I appreciate the luxurious feel of this perfume. I now understand why it's considered expensive. Newcomers might misjudge it due to the dominant and thick smokiness at the beginning, but connoisseurs recognize its exclusivity as I continue to wear it. I find that I can't forget the Silver Oud scent even when wearing other, more mass-appealing and linear perfumes. It's as if my heart is saying, "I need the Silver Oud scent right now!" Similar to finishing a captivating book, I'm impressed with the ending of the whole olfactory journey, making me want to experience it again. Opus XIII Silver Oud tells a great story that resonates, fitting perfectly into the product category named "Opus Library Collection”.

    I tried a heavy spray test of this at my local Neiman Marcus last week. It was pretty strong at first, and very, very camphorous. The original scent was there, underneath somewhere, but it was so camphorous/medicinal at first that it turned me off a bit. Got better as it dried but it became a skin scent quickly. I love Reflection 45 and I think Epic 56 is nearly bottle worthy. Jubilation 40 isn't even in the conversation at grey market pricing, for me.

    • @universalfragrance
      @universalfragrance  7 месяцев назад +3

      Thankfully I did not get those notes at all. More of a slight hazelnut gourmand with heavier Oud and Ambergris base with the same opening top notes as my original(s) of the XXV. As stated in the video, no fragrance is worth $500 retail, and this will certainly be available in the low $300s or less soon. They are making a killing off these fragrances and anyone who's in the business world knows there isn't even close to half that $500 put into the fragrance and packaging. Probably cost them around $100-150 total to make and ship if I had to guess. Appreciate your input!
