Thanks so much Claire 🥰 Yes, Sarah just said this in her reply comment, I knew it reminded me of something but I couldn't think what, and its one of my favourite films too 😂
You are a wizard! I showed this to my husband. He's an engineer & knows a lot about chemistry. He came over to see if I was ok because of the noise I made when I I saw this pendant. 😂 I told him how you took the Bismuth and melted to make the crystals. He was impressed with the end result of your pendant. Got an "oh wow" from him. High praise from him Daniel! 💗💗
Hey Daniel. My metallurgist husband says the iridescent sheen is an optical thing, not due to oxides. He says light hits the surface molecules and reflects different wavelengths. When you put the UV resin on top you changed the optical properties, making light hit it differently and that's why the sheen disappeared. I have made faux kyanite crystals and used iridescent pigments to achieve the same effect on their surface, Those color shifting chameleon powders work great! You can use more than one color and apply them randomly over the surface, similar to how you made those faux moonstones. A magenta-blue shift would look lovely!
I wondered that as flame painting copper has the same problem, stunning colours until you seal it and unsealed it’ll just turn green. Such a shame to lose the beautiful colours like blues and pinks from the heat. The structure still looks amazing on your piece Daniel 👏🏼
Bismuth is the coolest element ever, and you made it into something extra special. Bismuth crystals have always reminded me of some ancient pyramid structures, and the pendant looks like a miniature world. I think you made the right choice with how you hung it. I was gonna suggest grinding a shallow groove around the sphere and add a metal band to it, but this is much less invasive and leaves the beauty of the crystals free to be admired.
@@daniel..cooper You could pre-make the wire loop that goes around the side seam and put it in place before you put the clear dome on top. It would be held in place by the cured resin.
All I can say is I LOVE the way your brain works! Not only are you teaching us but you continually entertain as well. I love this experiment so much! Thanks Daniel..❤️
I like to go to the gym and mineral shows and find beautiful pieces of bismuth crystals thank you for showing me how they do that. You truly are a master Daniel😂
I love this video, showing first hand your mind at work. How you work out problems and difficulties. And the end result is just amazing. Fantastic video.
Bismuth is so much fun, very unpredictable with the shapes, sizes, & colors you can end up with! Wish I'd known about it when I was younger, would have been a great school science project.
Daniel, this piece is just incredible! I love it! Was it worth the painful struggle? You betcha! I agree with you, it's 100% worth it! I just can't wait to see what mischief you get up to next!
Three simple steps. What could go wrong? 🤷♂️ I liked the first heart that lost its color. Still a very cool piece. Your new uv light has a lovely window to record through. I’m glad the outcome was worth the struggle. You rock!
Daniel, when it comes to you nothing should surprize me, cause I know there is no stopping you. This pendant is so beautiful. Can't wait to see what you will create next.🤩🤗💞💙
Daniel, your work is amazing & so inspirational. A true artist, dedicated to your craft. I thank you for sharing this with us! (Now, PLEASE, get some sleep! 😊)
OMG 😮😮😮😮 THE MOST AMAZING THING I BELIEVE I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! You took my breath away when you flipped it over!!! SO GORGEOUS AGAIN YOUR TALENT IS BEYOND WORDS 👏 BRAVO ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Brilliant Daniel!! I see an ancient temple in that pendant!! Absolutely beautiful! Good job carrying on and seeing it through.. I sure am glad that it didn't go out the door.. 😉 💕 💕 💕
That is absolutely incredible! 🤩 I come back to your channel daily to watch and re-watch your videos. I have been wanting to get into resin art for a while now, haven't taken the plunge yet. Just keep adding to my Amazon cart, lol. Your videos give me a lot of inspiration, and I can't wait to try some experimenting of my own!
Daniel I could feel your pain during the developmental stages but WOW!!!! Soooo worth it!!! Its absolutely incredible. 🎉 It looks as though its a precious ancient artifact, like something out of Indiana Jones movie. *Round of applause* and your so right, never give up. 😊😊
Sometimes you can put a holographic nail polish ( ordinary not gel) on and it looks fantastic. Then you topmost it and loose all the holo -ness. All those fantastic colours disappear. This reminded me of that. There are a few different top coats and not all keep that beautiful holo look. Maybe it's the same with resins. I'm sure it must have something to do with light refraction but that's as far as my knowledge goes.
Oh, this is just the *_coolest thing ever,_* Dan! The crystals are SO beautiful! I really love that 2nd crystal you showed: the stair-steppy, ancient temple-looking, architectural structure... thingie...chunk...whatever it is! You? Impatient? NEVER! 😅 *OHHH, WOWWWW! STUNNING! GORGEOUS! AMAZING!* 😲😍❤ THAT was worth every bit of struggle and worry, Dan! Every bit! 😊👍💕
Oh, Daniel, Wow! Wow! Wow! These are amazing. The patience with detail work is amazing, too. 😁. I had no idea bismuth would do this. Not that I will do it, but I’m thrilled you figured it out. ❤❤❤
On my WOW! That is just gorgeous Daniel!!! So glad you did not give in to the struggle and give up! I love watching all of your videos. I have even tried a few myself. Not successful tries but tried. I am still learning and have learned a great deal from you. Thank you for showcasing your talent and knowledge.
This is one of your most beautiful pieces. Thank you. I think the reason you lost the color on the first one is because of the heat produced from the UV resin curing.

I asked my son about your issue with the color loss. Naturally he got all technical on me. However the gist of it was that he suspects without knowing all the details, that it was oxidation. Gawjusssssssss Daniel - Reminds me of The Labrynth film :)
Thanks so much Claire 🥰 Yes, Sarah just said this in her reply comment, I knew it reminded me of something but I couldn't think what, and its one of my favourite films too 😂
Now imagine doing it in a sphere like you did the other week and rolling it round your hands like Jared! Iconic moment we NEED on video!

The structure still looks amazing on your piece Daniel 👏🏼
That's what I was thinking. Could always brush with just a hint of mica powders to be subtle would look pretty
Why does the bismuth show the colors after you melt it down? Why do the colors not show on the block of it Before you you melt it?
I love how often your videos not only show us your amazing artistic talent, but we also get a little bit of a science lesson!!! 🤓
Thank you 😊 Gotta love a bit of science 🥰🥰🥰
All those pieces would be sensational with some good quality macro photography 😃
An Aztec temple incapsulated. Beautiful. ❤
