The first time I thought that game over sequence was a glitch, but the second time I realized the developers are just insane. Can’t believe this is the same studio that made the Wipeout games.
I played this game many years ago but couldn’t remember the title name or find any gameplay of it. I began to think it was a nightmarish fever dream that never existed, or some creepy pasta demo I got somehow as a kid. Can’t believe I’m finally seeing it again!
That trumpet sound followed by the long black screen and finally the opera singer screeching signaling a game over is comedy gold! I also almost lost my breath laughing at the creature on the ball and his animation cycłe. Srysly though felt bad for Ben this time.
The reason most of us find this game so hideous is because we’re f-ing sober! This game was designed for peak enjoyment only AFTER ingesting a massive dose of acid! 😂💀
My friend - back in the 90s - asked me if i'd played ''Py-see-bad-ack''. I remember how he asked with such enthusiasm as though it was a good game. We are no longer friends.
I'm honestly kind of surprised they never heard of Psygnosis. As they were a very famous UK video-game developer from all the way back from the micro days. They are best known for games like "The Lemmings", 'Wipeout", and ton of other great games. They still technically "exist" as a legal entity under Sony, but they haven't done anything with the brand since 2001...so they are basically dead.
Psygnosis used to make the Formula One games on the original Playstation. They even had commentary from Murray Walker! So this is very much an anomaly in their back catalogue.
They shut down what remained of them as Studio Liverpool, most of the devs went on to form Firesprite.... Which Sony acquired last year lol. So yeah they exist, I think Firesprite is one of Sony's largest studio much like how Psygnosis was in the 90s.
@@rubygloommel8850 Yes. They also published several games developed by DMA Design (Lemmings, Blood Money and Menace) and Reflections (Shadow of the Beast 1-3) before both developers made GTA and Driver respectively.
Psygnosis is a very 'hit or miss' kind of game dev. Either they show up with some absolute classics (Wipeout, Lemmings) , either they come out with some really horrible ones (Psybadek, Spice World (already featured here in WGE), and the SNES port for Prince of Persia 2 (The worst I've played from them, imo)). Gotta say that following Wipeout hype, I find the DnB soundtrack for this one of its only redeeming qualities.
that bugle call whenever you go through a warp is a truncated version of the call that plays whenever it’s meal time, i have no idea why they picked that for this game
This game has the look and feel of "video games are the wild west and we are just learning how to make them"...until you realize that we were fully two decades into games being a common thing by the time this released. It's a bit like a grown adult walking into a museum or art gallery and holding up a stick figure drawing they did on a napkin and hoping people take them seriously.
Yeah but you have to think there was a 2nd Wild West when 3D started, and this is kind of early on the 3D era. I remember the demo for this being kind of fun BUT those were other times and might be overrating it by today´s standards, anyway what I mean to say is that the studio of this game kinda got the idea of what was fun but failed at the end?
@@RKNELIAS Not by '98 mate. Vans owns both the Warped Tour (a now-defunct concert festival tour) and the Triple Crown of Surfing (an annual series of surfing competitions in Hawaii that’s been around since the ‘80s), so I’m not surprised they used those as a way to promote the cheesy video game they slapped their name on.
I remember playing this on a demo as a kid, fortunately never played more than that. Hard to believe this steaming heap was made by the same devs behind Wipeout.
Seeing you guys play this game and get more frustrated with each level was so fun, it brought back memories because I had this horrible game and never got past level 2. Also, I had forgotten about that horrifying jumpscare of that game over screen, so thank you for bringing the trauma back
To say this had a troubled development would be an understatement. It was pulled in all different directions by too many people who insisted that they alone knew what was best.
I love this series for bringing video to games I remember seeing ads for and thinking about renting as a kid. The art style for this looked so neat to me as a kid but instead I rented other terrible things like beast wars on n64
Haha I remember we were at my cousin's house with our PS1 one time and the game over screen came on, then my brother ran out of the room XD My cousin was trying to make it come back to scare him a second time lol
i love how you can tell ben is just thinking of all the ways he can game end himself while suffering through this, and that game over screen was cursed.
so many summers at warped tour in CT, that was my middle/high school life. big outdoor concert with like a dozen different stages, like a hundred bands all playing sets, it was always impossible to see all of one set without missing some of another one you wanted to see. great times....

Indie? Hmm I think Psygnosis was owned by Sony at that time already but they retained some independence similar to how Bethesda is right now. They still publish games as "Bethesda Games"
That "Game Over" screen will haunt my nightmares. Overall, this episode was a beautiful trainwreck!
I mean, it’s over.
The first time I thought that game over sequence was a glitch, but the second time I realized the developers are just insane. Can’t believe this is the same studio that made the Wipeout games.
THEY MADE WHAT!!!!!!?????????
I think the people who made this game were on alotta drugs
@The great 100 Wasn't everybody in the 90's?
I'm pretty sure that weird GAME OVER scream is a take on the saying, "It ain't over 'til the fat lady sings."
That's exactly what it was
Sure... *"SINGS"*
I played this game many years ago but couldn’t remember the title name or find any gameplay of it. I began to think it was a nightmarish fever dream that never existed, or some creepy pasta demo I got somehow as a kid. Can’t believe I’m finally seeing it again!

Weren't they involved in the Discworld games? I'm sure I recognise the logo.
I know em from the Destruction Derby games. Loved them back in the day but it's hard to go back to now. Like most ps1 games really.

You guys need to use that game over screen for something on your channel. It's just too damn good
One of the few games where you are deathly afraid to get a game over.

Of course Peter doesn't know what Warped Tour is, he's not like me and still emo nearing his 30s
was looking for this comment lmaoo
That "komposition" at the end of the race, is just hilarious!!
That game over screen is like something from an early 2000s creepypasta
"pybadex.exe.exe.exe.exe"
I liked the parts where Ben was trapped in a box

I remember seeing the advertisements in the PlayStation mag for this, it looked so cool But when the demo came out it changed my mind about it.
Lol

I like how the timer starts before you even enter the level
That's Let's Get Killed by David Holmes playing about 14 minutes in. What a great song.
To say this had a troubled development would be an understatement. It was pulled in all different directions by too many people who insisted that they alone knew what was best.
The entertainment and editing of this video are both on point.~
Will watch again.
‘The render drist is drilliant!’
This game is actively melting your brain
Honestly couldn't stop laughing at that last part, the game over screen and the boss 🤣🤣🤣
Many beloved games are stucked in development hell forever and yet this was made.
if there is a god he hates our guts.
That crash bandicoot music 😂
Unusual for Psygnosis to put out a bad game, especially on the PlayStation. Somehow I'd never heard of this one.
I bought this game full price as a kid with some chore money and regretted it my whole life 😂
God this video had my crying lol, def one of my favorites, totally deserves more views.
I got this as a Christmas present in 98. Possibly the worst game I was ever gifted.
I love this series for bringing video to games I remember seeing ads for and thinking about renting as a kid. The art style for this looked so neat to me as a kid but instead I rented other terrible things like beast wars on n64
Holy fuck the in game art style is so much worse than the cool cover. I’d have been so confused as a kid.
I don't usually enjoy people suffering but this is a small exception.
A game I would never touch with a 10-ft pole even if it was free.
Shadow Realm Ben sounds like what you would hear as he is holding your head under water.
For me, Peter is the PS1. He embodies it as much as it embodies him.
Haha I remember we were at my cousin's house with our PS1 one time and the game over screen came on, then my brother ran out of the room XD My cousin was trying to make it come back to scare him a second time lol
I remember asking my Mum to buy this game in the shop and it was so bad I think i cried 😅
Man, I love the concept of an N64 style collectathon where everyone is on skateboards....but this is hot garbage here
I legit thought the game over screen sound was edited.
This video is worth it for the intro and game over screen alone.
My cat went for the screen when the depressed miaow sound happened the first time 😆
I’m pretty sure the shooting sound effect was the same as the one used in the game “Chex quest” that came in boxes log Chex cereal in the 90s
Does it make me a bad person that the episodes I enjoy the most are the games that break Ben?
Not at all.
Shadow the Hedgehog breaking Peter was great too. Maybe I’m bad as well
This game is scary
One of the funniest episodes yet 😂
It's a "Vans Service" game
i love how you can tell ben is just thinking of all the ways he can game end himself while suffering through this, and that game over screen was cursed.
I'm very glad I never saw this as a kid because the artwork would've made me think this would be very cool.

Thank you Ben for having a breakdown for our entertainment.
Van's Warped Tour is probably the biggest NA pop punk festival. And Psygnosis did Lemmings, Destruction Derby and Wipeout (among lots of others)
yup.
Oh Psygnosis, you've broken my heart. Why didn't you stick to Amiga? 😭
"My Psydes!" - Ben Potter. 2022
The game may of been bad, but at least it had pengwings in it. Penglings are adorable creatures.
For the passwords, did you not try the "Continue" option
These cold openings are working out very well 🤣
I can’t breath. This was the funniest episode ever.
that game over hahahaha
I really hope the cold opens just become more and more obtuse and surreal.
Guys, game suggestion
ANIMAL SOCCER WORLD
literally the worst thing I ever played in all my days
I think they might have been drugs when they made this

I wonder if the Warped Tour bands had to promote this. I can't imagine that going well.
You missed a joke calling them a bunch of Deck kids... 😉
I learnt my motor functions playing this game
chief cook and bottle washer I can only assume is a reference to the Broadway musical the rink. why exactly im not sure
I swear its felt like a month or 2 since the last WGE!
Who the hell is skipping this and saying next game?!?!
The intro to this game is something special.
I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS GAME. Played it in the hospital one time,
This game could probably put you in hospital
For some reason my cat was very interested in this video. 😆
cause it has good taste........and wants to eat the cartoon pengwings.
Terrible game BUT an amazing licensed soundtrack by David Holmes (of Ocean’s Eleven fame) so everything’s good and balances out in the end.
This really feels like one of those games that is made... Just because.
I don't feel any soul or love into any of this.
Holy hell.... Psygnosis used to be a really good developer. But this is ... wow ...
That’s the problem with a developer like them being bought by a bunch of fools like Sony.
Another fantastic episode!
Psygnosis are legends. Won't have a bad word said about them.
I had to pause because I laughed too hard at the game over screen
Is that "Rude Boy Rock" by Lion Rock I hear in the opening cinematic?
Even just seeing the name of this game written down is giving me a headache.
This was the game we got with the playstation. I'd completely forgotten about it
It's like snowboard kids but bad

Why does it play Reveille why you jump through a portal? It's like they used a place holder sound effect and just left it in.
