- "My Sister Sam" was a sitcom that ran on CBS from 1986-1989 about two sisters who were complete opposites trying to live together. The show is rarely seen these days but really deserves a DVD release. Posted in memory of Rebecca Schaeffer.
I still can’t believe “Everything starts like a knock at the door” are the first words to this show’s theme song? Unbelievable considering Rebecca Schaeffer was killed after someone (purposefully not saying his name) knocked at her door. So sad.
@dennnis2781 get nice
a sad foreshadowing
That bastard robert john bardo. I’d say his name. Stupid
I was 5 when Rebecca Schaeffer died. Mom told me she died and give me any details until I got older
A tragic irony
It hurts that she never got to live the life she deserved
It still makes me sick and sad to think about Rebecca Schaeffer. Disgusted me and broke my heart.
Terry her tragic passing broke my heart too. She was EXTREMELY beautiful and had so much to offer.
@Sharon Jensen is he still in prison .
@@robertrodriguez787 Yes.
It's really sad to hear what happened to Rebecca Schaeffer. She would have been 53 this year if that animal hadn't stalked her and snuffed out her young life. Now I can see why a lot of these celebrities hire bodyguards and have tight security measures around their homes.
@@Lisa-di1wi exactly why celebs have to isolate
Remember this show! So sad about Becky Schaefer 😢
Becky Schaefer was a sweetheart who has her life ahead of her but to be brutally murdered by a ruthless son of a bitch SMH makes me cry and very angry 😡 I hope there's a special place in hell for her killer 😇🇮🇱🇨🇦🇺🇸🇬🇧😇😮💨💔🙏💖🤗 rest in peace beautiful sister
@@brooklynbabe7896 If Rebecca had known the danger she was in, she wouldn't have messed around. Robert would have been the one who died at her hand by a baseball bat or crowbar. She would have killed an intruder. I know that because I see a lot of myself in her. The reason she died is because she didn't even know she was being stalked. She was caught off-guard and had absolutely no time to react whatsoever.
@@RelsisFidoI agree and interesting how you say that. I read in an article once that while she lived in NY, there was some weirdo guy following her. He try to hit on her aggressively and she literally punched him right in the face then kept walking to where she was headed. I am assuming he left her alone after that, I mean I would lol 😂
@@RelsisFidoI seriously doubt she could have hurt him with a baseball bat. She was a tiny girl.
🙏🏻
The last image is so sad she was glowing and full of life :(
I think she may have been my first celebrity crush...I was like 12 at the time.
It feels haunting

Rebacca Schaffer was magic pure and simple as long as net exists her work will live on
That opening lyric is SUPER creepy...
(Singing): Everything starts like a knock at the door... You don't know who it is, but you know who it's for..."
This is how Rebecca Schaeffer died... That psycho, stalker POS knocked, she answered unexpectedly, and he blew her away. So, SO sad...
I seriously hope Robert John Bardo rots in hell for brutally murdering such a sweet, beautiful, and promising talent. Sicko.
J Miller Sadly, almost prophetic. Murderer R.J.Bardo is Hell-worthy.
i feel the same way about that first lyric super creepy
OMG you are right super creepy
Stop im
There wasn't actually a knock at a door. He buzzed her and she came downstairs.
When I was 12 I was head over heals in love with Rebecca Schaeffer. 32 years later, seeing her come down those stairs still takes my breath away.
Too bad she died so young rip rebecca
😢
Gone way too soon she had plenty to offer in the entertainment world
Absolutely.
Dumb asshole killed her
To Think, She Was That Close To Being In The Godfather III. 🤔😭
Michael Bright Her or Winona would’ve made the movie better
@@michaelbright1218 There's no question she would've been in it. When Winona dropped out, Coppola needed someone in a hurry, so as long as she wasn't already working on another job, he surely would've called her before using his daughter.
I just saw her 20/20 special on her life and death. I got real emotional cuz I like Rebecca am an only child and I can’t imagine the pain her parents felt. Made me love and appreciate my parents more.
I remember watching this as a kid. I have forgotten the theme song. Pitch perfect 80's sound.
Great cast! Kim Carnes of "Bette Davis Eyes" fame. Who doesn't love Pam Dawber? She's great! !! R.I.P. R.S.
Her hubby is considered quite a hunk, and I always thought Pam's mother-in-law was very pretty!
You said it!
Pamela ‘Pam’ Dawber was one of biggest crushes in the world coming up. Not only is she one of top five favorite actresses of all time, but she’s also one of my favorite people of all time as well. When I was eight years old, my babysitter looked exactly like her!😀 My mother would bring me to her house on her way to work, and she had big giant screen 📺. We connected immediately, I was like you go ahead Mom everything is perfectly fine here!😊 A beautiful, lovely babysitter and a giant 📺! A match truly made in heaven!😍
@@markhaddox7220Rebecca was beautiful too too bad she died so young may she rest in peace pam thought of her as her real sister
One of my most loved tv shows EVER. It has been aired, unfortunately only twice, here in Italy too. I am so glad I can rewatch it in its original language on RUclips. I miss Rebecca so much... may she rest in peace in the Holy Hug for ever and ever.
This needs to go on Antenna TV or MeTV.
sonofretrotvluver .So True I watch MeTV love it

Have you noticed these channels never play a variety of shows ? how many times can they play Bonanza and Gunsmoke? I would like more 80s shows like this.
@@cindypruitt9534 I don' think this show will ever be in reruns. The legacy of the show was tainted by Rebecca's death.
@@holden76 That's a shame, it would be a tribute to her and her family. You are probably right though, there are so many shows to put in syndication ,why put that one with the history.
Rest in peace to the one & only Rebecca Schaeffer
She's a talented actress, but after her death policies on stalking changed... 😢
I remember watching this show as a kid.
Love you Rebecca! I felt like you were my sister when watching the show...
Rest in Peace Rebecca
This is the pinnacle of the late 80s.
That was so sad her life was cut short by some maniac but thank God this maniac is off the streets doing life without parole.
And it was Marcia Clark who prosecuted this animal!
@@Lisa-di1wi You win some, you lose some.
Rebecca RIP. She was apparently a very sweet person in real life.
I didn't know David "Makin' It" Naughton was in this show. You would think he would sing the theme song like he did for his Disco TV series :)
I loved this show. Rip. 😪
Me too Sheels1976. I heard that Rebecca Schaeffer was offered a part in The Godfather part III but sadly it never came to be...
I heard she had a big heart, should would read and reply back to her fans mail, even though she was advised not to do so!
Damn Rebecca was so beautiful. RIP
My sister Sam needs and back on 📺 again, I don't care if it's reruns. just put it back on again.
I miss it and I know I'm not the only one that does either
'I always drink wine during cooking contests. And My Sister Sam.' - Sophia Petrillo from Golden Girls.
This show had such wholesomeness and optimism about it. Yet when we watch it now, knowing what happen not long after the series ended, its almost impossible to see it in the sweet, lighthearted way that it was originally intended. Now it's a heartbreaking reminder of a horrific tragedy and a beautiful life filled with potential cruelly stolen
EP Diane English would go on to create "Murphy Brown" after CBS canceled this show. Such a tragic shame what happened to Rebecca. :(
Gone, But NEVER Forgotten Rebecca ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Lamento mucho lo de Becky Schaeffer, muy joven y con un talento increible😢
Gracias🌺
She was so beautiful and so young Rip 🙏
Rebecca was so on her way, and it just saddens me still that her life ended so soon
We could have had Rebecca Schaefer in "The Godfather: Part 3" instead of the dreadful Sophia Coppola! 😢
@@jhhonethere was no guarantee she would've gotten the role. Personally, I don't think FFC would've chosen her.
Rebecca was certainly one of a kind. Such natural beauty and talent. ❤
Rebeca was so beautiful girl 😢
Yes, she was.
Did anyone see the special that 20/20 did a few weeks ago? They did a special on her life and the stalker and murder. 2019 is the 30th anniversary. It still seems like just yesterday! Its still so sad and tragic!
I did.
Me Too. ❣️😭
Yeah, it's online now and I watched it there. I remember so strongly when she was murdered. I had watched My Sister Sam as a kid before that. It was shocking, and I barely had any concept of how to process news like that at the time. I definitely didn't understand stalking or mental illness, and don't remember having any clear idea why the shooter did it.
Sharing the laughter and love😂😂❤❤❤❤❤
I'm still in shock because of Rebecca's death. I didn't know her to 2009. Then I watched a documentary (E! True Hollywood Story-Rebecca Schaffer).
I love the theme song. Poor girl.
Rebecca, Gone To Soon. 😭
Beautiful song
This show is like the female version of Perfect Strangers.
Rebecca Schaeffer is so pretty
I use to watch this show rip ms. Rebecca 😢
I have been enjoying the television miniseries for two years on CBS. But USA has made into a weekly series for four years from 1988 to 1992 with an amazing cast which was fun to do. Thanks for the memories, Diane English.
Perfecto!
Rebecca would've almost certainly ended up in Godfather III. When Winona dropped out, Coppola was desperate to find an actress, and couldn't find anyone but his daughter. So even if he had picked Winona initially, he would've called Rebecca at that point.
That sounds like Kim Carnes singing.
It is Kim Carnes!
@@martymcfly754 Thanks, saved me the time of looking it up on wikipedia !
Pam Dawber is awesome gorgeous actress.
there is a show called what i like about youin the early 00s just like this show ...with genie garth and amanda bynes ...

I remember the promos for the fall line up of shows that we’re gonna be on and even as a kid watching it I remember the news reports about her murder and shocking it was and tragic and the show was sadly canceled…
The show was canceled due to low ratings more than a year before her murder occurred.
@@randys6220 ok I guess your right…it was along time ago
Rip Rebecca Schaffer that Monster named Robert Bardo watches her show My Sister Sam is her Stalker
This song stil gives me chillis
I’m under the assumption that Sam is played by Pam Dawber. I knew about the show when I was a kid but I never really watched it like that. I just knew that Pam Dawber was in that show with Rebecca Schaeffer.
This intro reminds me so much of Full House.
Good TV show.
All these years i thought this was Carly Simon. Wasn't too familiar with Kim Carnes, but she went in on this underrated theme song. Does anyone have the full song?
Kim Carnes sang Bette Davis Eyes.
@@emerybayblues I remember that song, just not too familiar with her voice. I was like 9 or 10 when this show came out.
Rebecca.
Nostalgic 0.o good times
RIP Rebecca Schaeffer. We all know what happened.
Very catchy theme song :)
i allways liked pam dawber
For some strange reason, I had developed the faintest of attractions to Pam Dawber since 2012 when they had brought back reruns of Mork and Mindy on the Hub Network.
Ive never seen it, but looks good
Pam Dawber transitioned well from Mork and Mindy to this. Too bad it didn’t last long.
Well, two seasons isn't too bad considering how many shows don't last that long. CBS got cocky with this show and thought it could survive opposite The Facts of Life.
😿❤️❤️❤️
Rebecca was so pretty. I can't believe she was Jewish.
What?
My Sister Sam belong to United States 🇺🇲
Need both ofthem
I found out about Rebecca because I’m currently in a pathway at my high school that teaches you thing if you plan to go into law enforcement and we did a lesson on Hollywood murders and we watched a documentary about her and my heart broke
I believe had he lived and the show ran it's course he would've paid off his debts
Glad I found this show, a humourous question, how did they get permission to use my name
La imagen se ve bonita esta remasterizada
I can't believe David is James Naughton's brother. James is like wow 😙 and David is so eh.
Makes me sad.
The locations remenber "Full house"
Oh that Rebecca’s going places....

im thinking the theme for this is sung by kim carnes

I hate the theme songs lyrics about the door 😭
The worst sitcom in the world
How could you say that? This sitcom was made for families around the world and
My Sister Sam deserves a great deal of credit for an all star cast and crew which
gives a lot of love, respect and gratitude to Rebecca Schaeffer, who plays "Patti" -
has died in 1989. Her family and friends will always remembered. RIP.
Im guessing she didn't get the part
Terrible show !
Pam Dawber has beautiful feet.
So does your Mum.
That private investigator that located that actress for that stalker should have known better. He should have questioned the man why he wanted to find a tv star address for.. However; the best way to handle a stalker is genuinely not to reject them rudely. If they break into your house or send threats then YES you have a issue....but most cases a person may just want you as a simple friend. But harsh rejection and any type of hostile actions could send a real nut over the edge. It was said by this actresses stalker she glared at him with disgust. He pulled out a gun and shot her a hour later. ladies your smart and have good senses...there is a way how to set someone straight, with no issues after...just simply be kind. If they persist call the police.( in many cases just the kind word can make them happy enough to go away or just behave)Sometimes encouragement of knowing they have a friend is really all they want. I do feel that the word stalker does get thrown around a lot. sometimes str8 people will call a gay person a stalker if they are simply friendly. Use your head.
A real stalker will take kindness as encouragement to pursue a romantic relationship. You smile at them, they think you're flirting. You start out polite but very firm. If that doesn't scare the stalker off, you get mean and tell them you'll call the police if they continue harassing you.
It wasn't that simple, he came to her house twice, she was irritated because he wouldn't stop bothering her. He brought the gun because he intended to hurt her. I doubt being any nicer to that freak of nature would have prevented it. He had a violent past, and had serious mental issues.
The guy should have been institutionalized before it could of ever happened, but around that period of time, there was a bipartisan effort to close to down mental hospitals across the country. (conservatives wanted to cut costs, and liberals want to protect "human rights" being inspired by the film "one flew over the cookoos nest") Anyways, the lack of true prison time due to his violent crimes also made things worse. The guy was a parasite and being nice to him was what started the problem unfortunately. I'm all for being kind and pleasant but with violent savages like him, there is no time to be pleasant.
Think about it how many life sentences are let out due to good behavior.or relatives say they will take care or them when mental issues are the only thing that they say made this person due such a thing .john Lennon stalker is one to follow .and Jody foster had a right smart mentally ill person this problem is over looked . . I believe it should be a committee in any and every institution that is responsible for I'm naughty insane so to speak that are released it will take responsibility of these people doing further damage it's about time no meat Step Up do the right thing for all humankind this is an ongoing epidemic of bad judgment the same for prisons letting people out on your good behavior you get out and you just repeat that sign with taking somebody's wife or violating something to eat physically mentally whatever they're crying in that way the farm is at 2 Sunday be responsible for them coming out and doing it again probation is a big joke need to hold somebody responsible if they're going to let these people lose
That crazy I never heard anything of that sort .I have had gay friends since the early 70's and never saw or heard of problems till gay rights came in to play .parades you know when people act like weirdos people are scared of them .they want to be separated from straights .three things everyone should not throw out n public voting that is why you enter a private booth and pull the curtain .Faith Sunday thru sat.do go keep it between you and your belief and sexuAl preference it's nobody's business and I don't like to see girl on girl or girl with boy hanging all over than each other in public it's disgusting Private Matter and it's your choice nobody should judge you or tell you what to do but they wouldn't if you keep it to yourself who gives a s*** what you want to do sexually with you look for you had phrase if your choice. Get a grip wanting in front of people for telling people what you think through when they should think people are so nosey and some disgust me so judgemental think about punk rockers my little girl got scared to death it probably 3 years old by one of them because she was staring at him what do they expect pink hair and Spike 7 inches up in the air she just a little girl I wanted to knock that crap out of stupid man real weirdos was killing people not the ones wearing crop tops and Daisy Dukes when they're 50 years old male or female
Still not funny
That was a bad period for television show themes. Very few were memorable.
