  • There has been a lot of controversy with Zenless Zone Zero for the past view months so I want to make sure that I am as transparent as possible when it comes to my feelings towards the game! In this video, we talk about the issues with ZZZ going into the release (based on CBT3) in hopes of making sure the development team sees a video like this to help improve it!

    From what I heard with the interview it does seem like the team behind the game has a lot of good ideas on how too improve it and they want too improve and it seems like they do actually listen so because of that I am very hopeful for this game

    The brain-dead damage sponge enemies are a concern of mine. Combat depth doesn't feel rewarding if you can still successfully ignore it.

    I've had an eyes on this game even before the Devs lol.
    The biggest problem for ZZZ currently is that its NOT LAUNCHED YET 😂 I'm joking, or am I? I don't even know.
    Being serious though, I haven't played any of the betas so I can't just point to anything I dislike or like, because what I may like now from just watching it, I could dislike after playing and visa versa.
    If there is anything to dislike so far, is that ZZZ don't give us the players more options of difficult. I know they gave us Challenge Mode in Story, but why not give that more user adjustable options. For example, after you click Challenge Mode, you are presented with various sliders affecting different attributes.
    1 - Enemy Aggressiveness
    2 - HP Toughness
    3 - Increase the chance for enemies to faint an attack (tempting)
    4 - Handicap (Lessens the amount of counter, swap, ultimate charge rate etc. lol)
    But being honest those are not necessary, as long as they did make Challenge Mode a Challenge.

      Lmao naw I get that. I know some people have issues even without playing (I guess from what they’ve seen) so I just want everyone to be able to voice their opinion here. Sliders for difficultly would actually be really freaking good tho! I like that idea a lot.

    Maybe it's because I (like most people) haven't played beta, but I feel like the "TV mode" hate is just manufactured by CCs for content idk. I'm really looking forward to the release July 4 but hopefully they fix the fps issues on ps5

      I played ZZZ during CBT1 and I legit stopped playing near the end because of TV mode. I absolutely hated it. Left feedback on how much I dislike TV mode as well. It was play a mission, then TV mode, then overworld, then TV mode, maybe play a mission, then TV mode inside TV mode, then overworld, then a mission, then TV world, etc, etc.

    I feel like a lot of the people hyping the game rn, as soon as they play it they are going to complain about the combat, especially the younger crowd. And even if the combat is easy, a lot of players struggle to even complete any story content in HSR and Genshin that isn't just the normal easy enemies and then go on Hoyolab and other platforms to complain about the difficulty, so waiting to see what happens especially when the combat is so different to the other 2 games.

    I'm really hyped up about ZZZ but I keep hearing the difficulty problem like you said, I hope the "public live-beta" is going to add more difficulty instead of ramping up the sponge (health). Take Wuthering Waves for example, boss challenge has different levels, each level would pack more sponge but also adding more ability to the total boss' move set, making the next level more deadlier and actually challenging. From the other videos I watched, it seems that the enemies in the current version is pretty much unmoving, non-interacting practice dummies.

    Unfortunately despite applying for cbt1 and 2 and even 3 I never got access too them so everything regarding the tv mode all of that is new too me the whole game is new too me so for me I will give it a review after 1 week maybe a month and decide if I wanna keep playing and also comment on what they could improve on

    I didn't play any of the BETA's, but I've heard people complaining about the difficulty for Shiyu Defense.
    The thing is, the mobs level in that content is lower than your character's max level. But in Genshin/HSR, the enemy's level is always higher that your character's max level.
    My guess is when the game's released, the will released an updated version of Shiyu Defense with 12 levels instead of 10. But that's just my prediction. 😄

      Most probably less aggressive, because casual audience (or at least part of it) is crucial for gacha

      From what I've seen from the CBT vids, they aren't as aggressive and their moves are telegraphed, so even the most casual of casuals would be able to put up decent showings. The draw of the game is the flashiness of the art style, animation, and characters. But I'd really like the future characters to have unique Ults instead of just enhanced QTEs.

    As much as I want zzz to succeed I feel like before or maybe abit after launch the combat system of the enemies gotta be tuned
    Outside of boss fights they feel like punching bags tbh with little to no mechanical depth
    I think what makes a great combat system is not only what the player has in their arsenal but how they use those tools in order to deal with the enemy but if that enemy doesn't really have the player trying all that hard to engage with, the comabt just feels boring and mashy

    I haven't played any of betas or other games from the Hoyo verse. I wanted to play Genshin for Itto, but everyone I talked to said he wasn't viable. My only concern is that I want to be able to play and have fun with a charaters I enjoy, not just meta. I don't need or want Billy to carry me through everything. Just wanna be able to shoot some stuff with him even after a year or two of playing.

      It depends on how the Direction of the game for genshin the power creep isn't really that bad you can clear with almost any character that has a good weapon and built supports but I know for star rail the power creep is a bitch where the old units are just useless now so you'll just have to see a year into the games lifespan

    My problem with ZZZ? The fact that as a f2p player I don't know whether to pull for Ellen or wait for Zhu Yuan 😄

      I think Ellen is better than Zhuyuan, as we have a great stunner (lycaon) that will pairs with her.
      Zhu Yuan is a character that could probably scale further into the future but Ellen is MUCH easier to build with built in damage bonus and crit damage directly into her kit.
      If you get Ellen's weapon you don't even have ot worry too much about crit rate either.

    I’m excited on playing the game, yet the app crashes every time I even try to play it. I physically can’t even get to the starting screen..

    The biggest problem with ZZZ is that they're launching the game with 2 limited waifus as the first 2 banners. As a waifu collector this is a huge issue.

      Kinda similar but with more fast paced action tho it doesn't have free roam map like zzz,no switching character but at least your teammates are fighting alongside you with decent AI plus some of em has pretty cool ultimate combi, and it's very f2p.

    I mever thought about why the TV section felt off to me and i think your idea of there being no vibrant colors is why.
    In the CBT2 that i got to be a part of, the best TV mode area was the event where you had small sections of the TVs that turned into minigames where you either had to collect stuff while dodging lines coming across the tvs or get to an open area after the red tvs went away and what was great about them was how vibrant both the music for those sections were, the colors and how it felt way more active as if i was playing the game instead of being guided on rails to the next TV location.
    If we can get more of that, then the TV sections will be fine.

    not related to the video at all but i wish they would add characters that use skates as a weapon. like skateboards, rollar skates/blades, figure skates, and hockey skates. it'll be so cool!!

      There's already a figure skater in other hoyo game, her name is Timido from Honkai Impact 3rd, and ZZZ gameplay is quite similar to HI3 so I'm sure they could make it happen. So the question is, would they?

    I'm fairly excited about the game mainly due to the art style and combat gameplay. I think it'll be a fun play before I take a break from slow released content.

    mmnot really an issue I have, but more of a "hoping it's there"?
    I hope the combat feel has that good good Tug o War between you and the enemy, esPECIALLY the big hitters- instead of just you (the player) just pushing through with spam and stuff
    Ohya and I hope they keep the TV stuff in, it looks like something real nice

    Coming to this video later after getting a good handful of hours of the game under my belt and I do find that all the criticisms are completely valid. I just think the people who are riding the game off so quickly are being exceedingly. Hyperbolic are definitely putting a sour taste in the atmosphere of the game.
    If I like you in a couple, others are doing a good job of not being shy to talk about the criticisms but aren't dooms speaking the game. I'm really glad to hear that the final boss of the main story is a part of that difficulty that really starts to pop because to me that's very similar to what happened with Hong Kai star rail where the majority of the game was either very easy or I just needed to grind a little bit one evening to continue the story and then finally I actually had to really try at the end of the game 1.0
    Again, I see a very fair criticism of wanting the story and the initial experience to be more representative of the entire game, but I also see that same argument of wanting someone to be able to come home play through the story without feeling like they have to lose themselves to difficulty.
    I'm always going to be in the camp that more difficult content is worth waiting for as long as you're willing to experience the story and the game on its initial run. But if you can't really click with it even at its core or worst, then honestly, I don't even think hardcore content would end up fixing a lot of people's problems with the game.
    Lastly, I really do like the TV mode. I understand it was too much in betas in the past, but again, like you said I feel like people are letting their feelings towards the TV modes and where they were before affect too much of where it stands now. Still not going to be upset if they cut a little or revamp the TV mode a bit because I do like the system. I'm very open and willing to see it continue to get worked on. I would not want it to be completely taken away

    My problem with it would probably be the drive menu system. It’s not nice to look at and it’s hard to tell what the final stats or upgraded stats would be as it’s covering the stats when you’re doing the upgrade from the videos I’ve seen.

    i honestly cant wait for the game but yeah just like the majority i also want the combat to be engaging and fun not just button mashing damage sponges, i want them to move and be annoying instead of staring at us for 10 seconds then spontaneously thrash out of nowhere, ik hoyo knows how to make more challenging enemies but they're too loyal to their demographic i.e casuals which theres nothing wrong with that ofc but im all of us would like to have at least a little bit of challenge from enemies aside from bosses

    I didnt play any CBTs but i know that you can only walk in the street with Wise or Belle. I would want to have an option or a place were I can walk and chill with the characters i have. I know this will probably not happend, because the developers would need to create new animations to all characters (because obviously they won't be walking down the street with his weapons XD)
    Well its just an option that i want, because pulling for the characters only to fight its not enough to me, especially when I'm F2P and i cant afford all the characters.

    I’m Very particular with difficulty in all games. The over geared under geared, the red skull over enemy head because your 5 levels under. And the once you know the mechanics of enemy you steam roll.
    If it ain’t 4 hours Elden Ring , or A Worlds first type of Ordeal.
    It’s short lived

    I'm super excited for the game still, but the issues I feel like I will have is that there will be very few ways of grouping up groups of enemies to easily defeat a bunch of them at once, the hit stun/visual stutter from heavy attacks being too much, the gacha banner screen looks like placeholder tbh and that the roguelite modes not feeling diverse enough between runs. (The buffs look pretty linear and uninteresting as far as I can tell)

    Since people are already talking about obvious stuff like enemy aggression, endgame, enemy being health sponges. Imma give my take as an animation and story nerd
    The first main issue with me is that outside of the amazing cutscenes and beautifully drawn comic strips, is that during conversation the game defaults to the characters standing idly with very little animation or expression (aside from billy). Now i know the team can't make every second of the game's story of top notch quality, but i just hope that hoyo decides to improve upon and make every character's poses more exagerrated and interesting, such as akin to the ace attorney games with their use of beautifully exagerrated poses that manages to make the story engaging with very little budget/time being used
    My second issue being that the overworld besides the main hub sixth street feels very... barren, i've seen walkthroughs of different areas like belobog industries and the place where you can see the big hollow, and i noticed that the space feels empty, there aren't many people or stuff around at all and what i hoped they're able to do is that make these places just a tad bit more lively by adding more interesting things you can interact with and people interacting in funny ways (like in hsr penacony and noticing that npc's puke rainbows or the walking billboard)
    As for combat... idk, i love it. Prolly cuz i'm an animation nerd and haven't played the game yet tho, and yes i like tv mode BUT only if they make it appear in story and hollow zero, anymore than that then it's gonna be such a fucking chore
    I have other small nitpicks too like the comic strips having lackcluster sfx, anby's skill/ultimate/QTE being the exact same for some reason? Having a day & night cycle that only really restricts gameplay cuz shops close at night (i think) and having SIX EQUIPMENT SLOTS
    But yeah overall i am very excited for the game =p

      About your first issue, I feel like this has been a problem with Hoyo storytelling since Genshin. They make these great animations and interesting characters, but most of their dialogue and story quest exposition devolves to characters standing in front of each other, just talking. Definitely the worst kind of storytelling in full force, I'm a big fan of 'Show, not Tell', and Hoyo has never really successfully nailed it, because they tend to force feed you the story through text.
      Luckily, the gameplay seems a lot more interesting this time around, and since they can make the combat the main focus, hopefully they're able to keep it interesting, since most characters seem kind of simple gameplaywise as of right now, but it is the launch roster so i'm not too worried about that.

      But you have to think about Mobile Restrictions(Like Look at Genshin Beta ) There aren't any Gacha games that don't basically do the Camera Pan then Dialogue(Usually PNG)
      It's not specific to Hoyo

      @@demonking-zm3rs The PNG + Dialogue is just how it has to be, but even then, you can tell a good story. After all, books and comics can show off a story that keep people interested. What DOESN'T get people interested is when your text involves two characters just talking to each other and explaining literally every plot point without any kind of nuance.

    I would have to say my main issue with ZZZ is the menus, they seem very hard too look at with alot of text and not much interest. Thats my input for this giveaway

    I havent played the game yet but I really hope the game adds more difficulty in the long run. HSR has become way harder now compared to 1 year ago so I believe the same thing can surely happen to ZZZ

      The difficulty spike in hsr has gotten kinda obnoxious because it's just the same 2-3 animations and voice lines over and over and over again because the fight is longer now, i prefer harder stuff in turn based games where you have alot more battle options. Real time battle games benefit the most from hard fights so I do want that for zzz

      I'm still f2p more then a year in and still clearing 99% of the content, but depending on the week MOC 12+ can give me some trouble, also I have non of the broken harmony characters

      eh, i think the different difficulties probably means they’ll be free to make challenging mode harder, since story-focused players won’t be locked out of content

    "What is a problem you have with ZZZ?" - The core combat. It's not as good as it could be. It really lacks that killer touch that other J-Action games like DMC and Bayonetta have, despite clearly leaning into that style of combat. There's so many games they could have taken some inspiration from, including their own game Honkai Impact 3rd with their "A Post Honkai Odyssey 1 & 2" side mode which was basically Hoyoverse's take on a DMC style combat system. They could have taken that and rolled it into the combat systems they made for ZZZ. Would have been a way better game overall.

    Damn near every single one of these games lack the same thing that would make them their money, co-op roguelite mode and a co-op mode similar to tower of abyss. With matchmaking and a hidden code to match you with whales to make you want to spend to be as decked out as them it would be an easy draw and dependable content to do every week.

Well i hope they make it that the enemies and including us have less health, make it so the fight finishes faste i dont wanna do the same attacks so many times to deffeat any enemy, it is a fast paced game so make it so we can finish it a bit faster i guess

    Not really a problem but the weapons being just a couple of balls seems lame to me. We have to gocha for them, I would at least like to see them worn by my characters and not just a piece of equipment simply to give stats.

      I kinda like that because it more reason to not waste rolls on weapon banner and just focus on characters. (Weapons banners are mostly scams anyway)

    I think this game will improve more and more overtime like hsr and have more complex combat as the game goes on I wasn’t interested in this game at first like at all hsr is the only hoyoverse game I love currently but after seeing your amazing videos covering the game and some gameplay myself I think it looks like a lot of fun I will definitely give it a shot at the bare minimum

    The problem is knowing Hoyo? unless their game has Honkai in it, they ain't gonna do much improvement on it, just look at Genshin.
    Let's face it ZZZ will do good 1000% guaranteed, probably earn 60M+ on it's first month more than Genshin or WuWa(not HSR though 🤣), but is it because the game is gonna is groundbreaking crazy good? Nah, it's because it's a Hoyo game.
    Nowadays for a gacha game to be considered good? It just need to have the right amount of polish and then have Hoyo's name on it and Hoyo fans would play and consume that game like crazy

    My main issue with zzz? As of now I haven't seen even one limited male character, but I've seen three limited waifus. Where are the males? Will the devs ever release male limited characters? Idk if I should even waste my time on this. Plus we can't walk as the charaters we pulled in the town. I'd probably try game but I don't see myself staying. I just fail to find a reason yet.

    I thought this game would be combat focus but its very simple and boring. Their combos is very few you always see them over and over again. Ithought there would ve more mechanics but i can already clear content just repeating those moves.

    My main issue since reveal is that the game doesn't need to exist. It feels too soon after starrail to launch another high profile live service game from the same company, regardless of gameplay differences. I Don't have time to play it, and feel a lot of people will just pass it by or get burnt out juggling it and other games.

    The biggest problem for ZZZ is not being clear with some things. A lot of people doesn't know if it's casual or hardcore oriented, they also mentioned "new multiplayer mode" not specifying if it's PvE or PvP.

    It’s weird i havent played the Betas or kept up with the games development much.
    Only chiming in on the content that floats around now.
    But hearing about the TV mode being part of the game and = not fun.
    During multiple Betas.
    And now hearing that it’s less present now and “not that bad”
    Did it go from = not fun to = not as bad as it was?
    Of course everyone wants to make their own experience with it.
    Try it before you judge it, but A “not that bad” doesen’t sound like something many want to engage with.
    Genshin’s Resin Problems are “not that bad” either after a few years.
    Maybe ZZZ needs to cook more like Wuwa does. ._.

    The game is very promising but honestly I already play one hoyo game and i'm not very willing to trust them with another one. We all know how they operate and although their games have a very high visual and audio quality there are some lacking aspects that they don't seem to care about most of the time. It depends on what you are looking for in a game and unfortunately their games do not offer me the things that get me more excited about. However for those who will play, enjoy your time and have fun! It's a game after all.

      The devs not caring is not a hoyo issue, that's just genshin. The HSR team has been improving the game with quality of life updates and endgame content with almost every update. And they don't even have direct competition to worry about, they've just been improving the game with a ton of content solely based on player feedback. And based on the betas, the Zenless team seems to be cut from the same cloth. They've done major updates to a lot of their systems based on player feedback.

      Not really despite the claim you do need a palate cleanser in between your combat. Realistically its not that they exist thats an issue but that there not very visually distinct
      It's not much different from a Rouge Like Mode in most games. But over time the TV will just be upgraded and elaborated on
      There also EXTREMELY lore relevant

    As someone who plays Genshin, Star Rail, and Wuwa, I honestly just find ZZZ boring so far. I'm already thinking about maybe uninstalling and just not adding ZZZ to my list of games. lol. I find it very underwhelming so far.

    -Challenge Mode no extra rewards,
    -Content looks a little small,
    -Couse of Gacha nature replayable Content maybe missing,

    Looks too spamy, people will get bored too fast, in a game that focuses on combat, the combat has to be more involving, the enemies are just damage sponges with no mechanics and no learning curve. Its basically do more damage by spamming right click and whatever cooldown you have, this will get repetitive over time

      I still dont plan to ever `try` ZZZ, but its clear they took the same kind of vibe as `video shorts` aka those 3~10 or something video, look up Dragon ball Heroes to know what i mean. Its where it feels like things are being rushed too fast and they have TOO MUCH expression being present and clearly the voice acting feels entirely off on some ends.
      Its effectively the opposite but too damn far as what Genshite impact`s story-telling went by being too stagnant on actuall motion, despite the fact they are both using 3D models...Its understandable to have static visuals if its say, 2D visual novel images, but when it feels like characters are being too exhageratted during even just simple conversations...
      Yeah it feels like a worst version of trying to talk to some kids who are drugged up on several pounds of sugar and they are suffering an over-dose that made them look like new record highs of ADD of being unable to focus on one thing at a time.
      Throw in the TV mode being really just like certain NOT LIKED story-telling methods that Punishing gray raven did a few times for some early story chapters (not the initial ones, basically post-Luna release story but definitely way before alot of current meta units like Super nanami and what not right now).
      Even if the TV mode is only used 20% of the time, because of how it works and how `overloaded` on the puzzle pathways i saw on the beta when i looked at it a few times, its gonna be extremely annoying with constant re-use especially if you have to keep going thru it for even just `weekly` grind.
      Throw in going the `damage sponge` route for harder difficulty enemies, and you just have a recipe to do one of those Ubisoft or whatever the games were called First person shooter type `loot a holic` games that focused on simply making enemies sturdier and often times do ridiculous amounts of damage, not thru some special modifiers, but by just upping the raw stat values and not much else...It will just be forced difficulty...
      This is why P:GR`s tower of babel or Ark knights Contingency contract were likely super fun, because you would modify how YOU wanted the enemies to be increased in difficulty so you can get them to cater to your game`s perference, since not everyone is gonna have the same units and builds as eachother and it gets boring when end game content gets often devolved to only one way to solve it and there is no means to take alternative, `creative` ways, to still clear it on such a high difficulty level and reap all the rewards and for those who want to discover even new potential setups that the devs probably overlooked that could translate into normal gameplay for even more fun stuff todo.
      Moral of the story: Games are best when they promote the presence of alternative `techniques` to content, instead of condemning it by removing/nerfing/never-allow such things to be allowed.

And also by the story mihoyo tells us so far in Genshin and HSR, I think they will never make it. I do watch PGR and play Ark Knights so. To be honest, I don't know. I think the game design fundamentally is very good but the execution looks very mid.
