A warning for the ages, and another story delivered with all the grim coolness it so rightfully deserves. Thank you once more, Edward, the chilling last line will stay with me, exactly as you said it. Bravo.
Thank you for reading this classic. I had heard the term “Like a monkey’s paw” used to describe a cursed wish granting item in a game. I was going to Google it sometime later knowing what kind of object it was from the rest of the story, when I saw your video while browsing on RUclips. Thank you Mr. French , for reading such wonderful classics so that we may enjoy them with your excellent voice and acting skills.
I 1st read this story when was about 10.. It scared the heck out of me then! It also was 1 of many tales leading to my love of scary, horrific, suspenseful stories. You have the perfect voice for these narrations!
I've read and listened to this story countless times over the years and I never get tired of it. A real classic. p.s. The Canadian radio series Nightfall does an interesting version of of this story that I'd recommend checking out if you've never heard it. It sticks to the original plot for the most part but it adds a nice (horrible) twist.
This tale has been told for years.I've heard several variations.the lastest one being a car accident instead of a mill or where ever the son worked in this one.I d.o like your reading of it
Absolute quality. A well loved classic, flawlessly narrated. Thank you once again, Mr French.

Excellent! Love the story and it is really well told here
I like how the tone of the story goes from good humor and warmth, to creeping horror...
Baruch - I think that's the reason this is a classic of its kind. Thanks for listening. E.E.F.
Great reading of a wonderful old classic!
