You know your album is bad when you're facepalming on the album cover and it's STILL a disappointment.
This album *is heavy duty like diarreah*
"Eminem, Revival is NOT GOOD" *explosions*
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. It has good songs on there
Yeah I agree man I was just memeing
Tiffanny Plz lol Theneedledrop be like “This new uhh Eminem album....Revival....it’s not NOT GOOD! 💥
That sampling on 'Remind Me' was painful to listen to. That song was the reason why I didn't finish the album.
Leon Wright Fuck the album. Just listen to Castle, Arose and Offended and forget about the rest of the album
what eminem needs to do on his next record:
either go for a concept album and dont have any features; hooks or other wise and complete dre production
or a pure hip hop album
with people like rtj, royce, slaughterhouse, j cole, kendrick, etc.
Aaron Miles Joyner, Joey Raps, Krit, even Big Sean
Nathan Shlapobersky maybe Sean if somebody checks over his work.
I feel like em just needs to take a break
Aaron Miles Revivals his last album. I listened to the entire album that's how I know.
Edit:on Spotify
Aaron Miles He was alright in Detroit vs Everybody
TL;DR, NOT GOOD/10
2.5/10, 3/10 at very best
"Your booty is heavy duty, like diarrhea..." - "Remind Me"
Now that's songwriting at its finest!
That line is cheesy and random. I guess he was trying to show some comedy
Well, Eminem could retire or sell out. Those are possibilities.
VLRgospel09 How about he names his next album retire where he's basically selling out on a whole album and be done with his rapping career
He already sold out... That's the problem. Retirement is too early for him. 40 isn't old. Retirement age is 60+
He sold out a decade before this tho.
well that's why his music recently is not great, he selling out and just going through the motions, he's an artist that needs to challenge itself or retire 💯 im an Eminem fan not a stan
@@fpalillero7304 Its more about Aducation 4Him
It's like your old uncle trying to dance the new steps. Trap...rapping over trap beats? 5/10
my bad bro I'm not like that ppl usually shit talk any comment I put on youtube so I took your comment the wrong way sorry bout that
emimem never comes wack to me I just feel like he was just tryin to fit in with the younger rappers when I don't really think he needed to do that this is just my opinion I like the old em better when he did shit different and his own way he s the best rapper alive to me I just don't like the choices he made on this album
No critics seem to like this album
Prince Link600 it almost a official. I just waiting for dead end and maybe tabby
For a good reason lol
Judging by the severe dropoff in sales compared to the MMLP2, the fans don't seem to like it either.
No one does
Well I mean cdtv productions gave it a 6/10, that's the most positive review I've seen so far
For me its a really weird listen, like every 30 seconds, you'll get a line or a flow or a moment that sounds good, but then it goes into bad bars and offbeat nothingess
Relapse is his best album since returning that accent flow was something a lot of people may not have liked but it works a lot better than most of the flows he's tried since and the production on Relapse was flawless
My name Yeah I agree.I've been wondering recently what if Em released Relapse 2 instead of Recovery.
Machine gun kelly, Macklemore, now eminem
this really was the year of bad records by white rappers
(Edit sorry, I forgot Yelawolf, my bad)
NealSadhaka the only one that saved was G-eazy's album, which was, in my opinion, much better than eminem's revival.
Then you didnt listen to the
NF album its amazing
Yelawolf killed it this year tho
Mackelmore, hell no. Machine Gun Kelly and Hopsin are the closest thing to Eminem. You chose Mackelmore bcuz hes white. Shame.
Lion duh, I choose macklemore because hes white because i was talking about white rappers lol
"this album was complete trash"
"4/10"
Yeah this is disappointing. I hope he releases another album a year later to fix this. He's talented enough to know that he needs to stop with the rap/rock shit, get rid of unnecessary pop features, change up his flow etc. I don't get how you can go from MMLP2 to this
Hey Mark! I am a country music fan... and I totally agree with your video back in 2013 with the “state of country music”... but since that has settled, and 2018 is around the corner... could you reevaluate the state of country music and discuss a change or the lack there of?
Filthy Frank is a singer now and I'm not talking about Pink Guy
It really, really hurt to see this album wasn't very good. I love MMLP2 but I don't think I could get myself to listen to this.
River is great, though. I like that song.
Cicabeot1 This is better than MMLP2 in my opinion. Listen to the album through the last two songs (best on the album). It's well worth your time.
Y2K Two good songs at the end don't make up for the garbage that preceded them
Y2K 2 good songs out of 19 songs? Lol
Framed is the shit
The album really is not good at all. 'River', 'Framed' 'Arose' and 'Castle' are good songs. 'Need Me' isn't bad either.
I'm glad there is someone else who also thinks Relapse is underrated.
Also, I like your clothing choice for this video.
This album hurts my heart. It just shows how far the best of anything can fall when they stay past their expiration dates. This album is reminiscent of The Undertaker’s send off at Wrestlemania. We know their both legends.....but it’s time to pass the torch on. I hate this album because it’s an insult to me. I’ve always defended Eminem. Hell, I really like Relapse. This, after waiting four years for a full release is a let down that Sonic Forces dreams of matching. Eminem needs to recover big time from this disaster, and fast.
i still think the last 3 songs on the album are among his best songs, that said many of the other songs are unforgettable sadly, though i dont like the flow on in your head, to stilted
The mixers are surprisingly: Dr. Dre, Eminem, Manny Marroquin and Mike Strange, being none of them strange to Em, since they pretty much mixed all of his Post-Encore stuff, weird.
Ronald Ciresa dre barely did anything really. But he did do the interlude lol. Eminem himself said dre was on a break while he made this and only got back in studio just as he finished. Rubin and Mr Porter need to fuck right off and we need Dre and Bass Brothers backing the next album.... atleast they tell him when a song sucks.
My ranking of Eminem albums from best to worst: (Not including infinite.)
1. MMLP
2. SSLP
3. ES
4. Relapse
5. MMLP2
6. Revival
7. Recovery
8. Encore
Recovery is FAR better than relapse and MMLP2, but I like yo list
franz morhart My ranking:
1. MMLP
2. Recovery
3. ES
4. Revival
5. SSLP
6. MMLP2
7. Relapse
8. Encore
Davix why don't people like relapse? the accent? I agree with encore, but relapse should be higher IMO.
TheWordNapkin The accent and his flow was pretty weak. Also, his style is normally playful and it wasn't that in Relapse.
For me,
1.MMLP (almost perfect.. didn't care for snoop on bitch please II)
2.SSLP (a close second)
3.TES (the level of maturity that suits Em)
4.MMLP2 (best solo attempt since TES but definitely has its problems)
5.ENCORE (i admit it has its issues but nostolgia)
6.RELAPSE (i would of liked this more if it weren't for the accepts)
7.RECOVERY (never thought this day would come)
8.REVIVAL (basically took the worst parts of mmlp2, relapse and recovery and made an album with it)
just finished watching the video, wish you mentioned either castle or arose but ah well i do agree with a lot of what you said
Outside of Arose, Castle, In Your Head, Bad Husband, Framed, and Like Home this is really really bad
The hook on Remind Me.....need I say more?
Encore is worse but this is awful
Best songs: Walk on water, River, Need me, Arose
Worst songs: Believe, Chloraseptic, Untouchable, Framed, Nowhere fast, Heat, In your head
2/10
David your taste in nusic is pretty cringe.
Framed is lit!

Joseph Bergeron The original album is a 1/10, this would still be a light 5/10 at best.
The album isn't too bad. I mean river, like home, nowhere fast,in your head, castle, and arose isn't bad. If you like hearing most of Eminem talking about his life today, this album isn't bad for it. I'll give it a 5.5/10. I mean this album doesn't show much of hip-hop/rap. But, compare it to every other old artists that started with one genre and is now going to a different genre for no reason! Eminem is trying his best, but failed. I hope if there's a deluxe edition of this with most of rappers.
4/10
Best Tracks: "Offended", "Framed", "In Your Head", "Castle", "Arose"
Worst Tracks: "Heat", "Remind Me", "Bad Husband ft. X Ambassadors", "Tragic Endings ft. Skylar Grey"
Ben Allan Walk on water was one of the best track. Sorry I meant only good tracks
Ben Allan This albums a 2
This album wasn’t that bad. Come on.
I thought it was alright.
dude your trump thing was spot on, almost everything you said was.
i like framed, the hook was a little 3AMish (i like relapse it had the sound), but at least it fit unlike the one in offended, even tho i liked the hook, just didnt fit in offended. lyrics, but not flow on offended changing so much. and the 2pac hail mary flow in believe was good, not the hoooooook tho.
he ruined the chance for one of the best rock riffs ever in untouchable (inside of youuuuuuuuu). thats about it that i liked. the flow tempo never stayed. he did improve on flow styles and syllable breakdowns tho. i wonder if we will come back to this some day and be like wow, maybe our brains just cant hear it yet until we get them enhancement chips.
i wanna see you rap all the eminems songs like you say you can do
did not expect you to go in at the five minute mark.

Me towards the new taylor swift.
This Eminem album: 3:41
Sorry very low 2/10 this album is very bad poor lyrics and autotune RIP Slim Shady
4 is generous as fuck
Brent Blayone Blayone Yeah it needs a 2
he probably changed his mind when river came out
I’d it is any consolation it managed to go Platinum in the UK within 2 weeks after it was released and Em gave a great performance of his own album in Twickenham
I really wish this was good. It wasn't. It seems like he took mmlp2, squeezed all the personality out it, restarted the Recovery esque whining, added horrible political tracks and horrible attempts at being modern, and made this.
This album is actually a dumpster fire
I was framed haha
I actually enjoyed most of the songs on the album: I think Eminem did great in River along with Ed Sheeran
Framed was quite clever
The last 2 were very touching
Bad Husband brought it home more than Love The Way You Lie
Like Home was good
I loved walk on water
It was a bit cringy at parts but those songs shone brighter than the flaws
7/10= 3.5/5
K-pop vs revival
Mosh was a better president diss why is like home sound so happy
I agree that the puns in river ruined the tone thank you for addressing that
I think Em really stepped out of his comfort zone with songs like Believe. It might sound kind of weird but not a lot of old artists try that trap flow. This project was mishandled due to too much diversity. At first you get a very slow song, then a pumped up song, then a rock rap song. This puts the listener off. But remember, Em himself said that this is what he was trying to achieve. Diversity in his work. At this point in his career, people should let him do what he wants to put out. Don't have expectations cz he himself said don't.
Surprised you gave a 4.
I don't think this album is that bad.
It has a lot of ligament problems, but I still like/enjoy it.
This album is brilliant.
Steven Fettig no you moron
Steven Fettig called me a nigga i'm white you idiot
Steven Fettig You are racist still get out of my face before i call you a nigga little shit just accept this album is NOT GOOD IT'S FUCKING BAD
@@DashieNegan41 don't get so angry
after that intense roast I expected a 2/10. The fuck
lol he has nothing to prove, he's just adding more to his library
Sslp (God level)
Eminem show (amazing)
Mmlp2 and mmlp (great)
Recovery (good)
I like alot of the ideas, lyrics and the true passion on the tracks. While the production was very poppy it didn't really bother me enough to hate it but hey that's me.
Badmeetsevil hell the sequel
(Alright)
Release and revival (not good)
They're on the same level quality wise, While ultimately Being on different side's of the same coin in terms of what they get right and wrong, it's actually kind of spooky.
Encore (trash)
Arose tho?!? Goosebumps
For all those who hated this album: I can understand why you all hated it and I accept your opinion
I just don’t agree with it
Definitely a 4/10 from me too.
Is that voltorb
Im going to buy a voltorb pillow
You rated it too high.
Surprised that you put "Like Home", which has an insufferable Alicia Keys perfomance (the worst feature in the record by far), over "Remind Me", which used its sample almost brilliantly (too bad that Eminem's bars were really lacking).
12:52 - 12:57 BARS
Rick Rubin is responsible for the production on the album.
Forget Rick Rubin, it's all about Eminem
River ft Ed Sheeran is one of the highlights of the album
“I’ve been an eminem fan for decades”
You’ve discovered him before Dre. Impressive.
Oh gods. I do still like Eminem, I really do... but I was really hoping for something great with this. What a letdown. (-__-')
He asked us to take a side....funny thing is....i didn't have to because i never liked him anyway .
All true words... No lie
Spot on review.
the song with Alicia Keys is garbage 😂😂😂😂😂. The best thing about it is her singing, but I ain't tryna hear that crap on an Eminem album.
What 6% of people gave this a 9-10 ?
*White suburban moms who judge songs only by their message
*Stans
*Oldheads
*People who "don't like rap, but listen to Eminem"
The Trump Curse strikes again, ask Siri what eminems best album is and the revival comes up lmfao
Eminem's Revival seems to be getting bashed, but this album is good to me. I feel like it's getting undue hate because a lot of people have a very narrow definition of what rap is. Because Eminem makes a lot of pop-rap and rock-rap, people just automatically go, "IT'S THE WORST ALBUM EVER!" This album had better raps then Encore, and better beats then Recovery. It's a good album.
Run-DMC made rock-rap and people consider them one of the best hip hop groups of all time... it’s not about the style, it goes beyond that!!!
Anne Karoline
Times have changed since Run DMC. We now live in an era where Hip Hop is cursed with an especially vocal group of purists so extreme they say Kendrick's 'I' was not hip-hop enough for them. Eminem got the same short of bashing for his Beastie Boys style Berserk, with many people calling it "music for white people." Which is not only racist, but shows an ignorance of music history. If Run DMC came out today, they'd be dismissed in similar fashion.
Billboardguy1
That my opinion. It's only your opinion the album is weak. There is nothing wrong with finding new ways to explore old concepts, such as Eminem using the linked songs of Castle and Arose to explore some interesting ideas from Recovery and Relapse in a fresh way, This approach is true in life, where we revisit and reinterpret old events all the time, and is also true of art. Nobody who listens to Michael Jackson Dirty Diana says it sucks because he'd already made a song about a predatory lover called Billie Jean.
And I don't know how you can honestly claim that Ed Sheeran's hook on River wasn't catchy as hell, because I think it is!
franz morhart No offense but your opinion is wrong. Your arguments are just out of place. No one is saying eminem can't revisit old concepts or look for new ways to rap (going into trap, having more pop features etc), he just didn't do it right. It's shit. So shit. If you ever see your opinion differ from that of most music critics/reviewers, maybe you should check your bias and make sure you're not just putting your head in the sand just cos it's Eminem.
King Fox
Sooo... your argument is, because I don't share the same opinion as you, it must be because I'm biased? I'm not some Eminem Stan who can't admit when an artist he likes makes a piece of art that is not very good Using Michael Jackson as an example again, I LOVE Michael Jackson, but that doesn't stop me from thinking that, despite having some good songs, HiStory was bloated and overly self-referential and melodramatic.
Maybe YOUR just biased against Eminem, all of you, some calling it his worst album and "the worst album of 2017." Is it really THAT bad? Or does it just seem that bad because you expect so much more from Eminem. THAT'S bias. My own opinion embraces neither the positive or negative extreme. I said Revival has better raps then Encore and better beats then Recovery. I said it is a good album. Not a 9.5/ 10 album, or the best album of the year. That'd be ridiculous, and I could see you thinking I could be biased if I said that.
Haters gonna hate
R
Eminem clone isn't any good...bring back slim shady.
In regards to the hooks of the songs being bad, many completely miss that on some of the songs (Framed and Offended especially) the hooks were DELIBERATELY annoying... or does he think Eminem didn't know what he was doing on Framed? Eminem didn't listen to that like. "Fuck yeah, this is a dope ass hook!"
Deliberately making bad-sounding music doesn't make the music any less bad-sounding
I understand that it's not for everyone, but I appreciate that kind of... anti-humor? "Fack" is another such song which is wrong in all the right ways to me, I love it. You don't have to love it too, but I just wish someone would acknowledge what Eminem was trying to do, instead of pretending he set out to make the most badass hook and failed miserably.
Worst album Of the year
Disagree with literally everything this dude says. Oh lord so wrong . It’s a great album. “Gotta year your idols down .” So fucking typical of out of touch music reviewers .
poser well I don’t know Eminem personally (unfortunately) but I consider myself quite liberal and I am a firm believer in equal rights for all. Em went hardcore to the left as he got older (most people , men, tend to go to the right it seems) and I respect and like that his values and ideals seem to have changed and align with my own . Having said that , I respect other people’s values and political opinions so long as it does not infringe on the well being of others . And regardless of his political stance, I think Revival is a great fucking album and can’t wait til I see him in Boston. Hope ur having a good evening/morning man . Peace ✌🏽✌🏽
@@SCOTTONTAPE revival is uhhhhhhhhh
9/10, better than MMLP2. Castle and Arose are the rawest Eminem has EVER been, showing him off at the peak of his storytelling ability. Need Me is Pink's best song ever. River is great, and Like Home is Eminem's best political song yet. Remind Me is one of Eminem's best "funny" songs. It's laughable to say that this album is worse than Relapse and Encore.
Furqan Kassa I mentioned 6 songs.
Furqan Kassa Most of those are forgettable (I like Headlights, but it doesn't hold a candle to Castle).
Furqan Kassa Rap God was good, the only other interesting one in your mentions.
Furqan Kassa No, just Relapse of those two. I like Recovery a lot.
Furqan Kassa I'm a fan of his classics too. Relapse is not a classic.
This was a bad year for white rappers.
you seem like a citric southpark would make fun of
Who cares?
dude relax
Mars Why you tell him to relax? He's being to nice to this god awful album
the production on this album sounds so awful, this dude has millions of money but can not afford a good sound mix or beats on his record? are you serious...
This rating is too high
Jamo Say No I rate Revival 9/10. Better than MMLP2.
No I think is the correct rating .
3 at best
Y2K I agree
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Eminem's new music. The concept is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of modern politics and human psychology most of the bars will go over a typical listener’s head. There’s also Eminem's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his lyricism- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Zarna Joshi, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these lyrics and flow, to realise that they’re not just fire 🔥🔥- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Eminem truly ARE idiotic Trumps supporters- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the genius in Eminem’s existential catchphrase “White boy, White boy, you're unstoppable,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Eminem’s genius wit unfolds itself on their youtube screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂
And yes, by the way, i DO have an Eminem tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that their music taste is just as shit as my own (preferably worse) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎
Rule of thumb, artists: Never name your album "Revival" or "Rebirth". J. Lo and Lil Wayne got mixed to negative reviews for "Rebirth" (if not middling sales), and few remember those albums today. And while it sold well, I doubt Selena Gomez's "Revival" will be remembered in five years.
Oh, that was the name of her album...
Disappointing to hear about this album, but I did live the Yahtzee Croshaw comparison.
The Rock Critic are you going to be reviewing this album
I think I’d actually take Encore over this. Granted, the worst songs on that album are low points that Eminem will never touch again, but the bright spots are much better, and there are more of them.
Zachary Jones it is hard to defend, but the production, mixing, flows and overall technical ability exists far more on encore then on revival. I easily put Encore above Revial, even if Revival has 1 or 2 songs better then a large chunck of that album.
Eminem bitched about Encore and Relapse when it got mixed reviews. Do you think he’ll apologise for this album like he did the others or blame the alt right for the criticism? The political climate indicated the latter to me.
darkrage6 that’s what I meant, edited it for what I meant ^^ thanks
Encore: 64
Relapse: 59
Revival: 50
Those professional white supremacist music critics at Metacritic are really shitting on this album.
Tejas Kalyan personally fucking loved relapse
I'll say it like this. Encore, Relapse and Recovery had some outright horrible moments but Metacritic judged them on a scale of Em's first three and treated those albums like the worst things in Hip-Hop at the time. Revival is just dull, A dull that will be ignored quickly. Encore is actively grating to this day. And it still deserved better than a 60 by aggregate. Em at his absolute worst is still more listenable than a lot of what the hell we got this year.
Tejas Kalyan lol
Honestly. I'll agree with your closing statement. Eminem should just go back to the underground and not care about the mainstream. Great Review
AnyThingWorx Archived Cause his sound in the album is going mainstream and he can’t pull the sound off good
And here's the second disappointment.
I almost want to give this a 4/10 because I like a couple of songs... but 17 tracks is too much. There's too much shit here that the couple of good songs just get overwhelmed by them in a tidal wave of shit.
I'll give Eminem credit for one thing: he managed to get everyone on both side of the aisle to agree Revival sucks. That's one way of uniting the people.
Skylar Grey ROASTED! lmao
I blame 90% of the badness of this album solely on her. i guarantee this album would be much better if Dre was still on the production team.
darkrage6 you're stupid.
darkrage6 keep crying
MrFlipperInvader782 Have you heard half her music? It's like sepsis.
U should review Kamikaze
I'm sorry the old Eminem cant come to the phone right now why Oh cause hes dead
Thats why Eminem who used to be one of the best rappers has made this trash album
I love how as much as Look What You Made Me Do is polarizing it still became a quotable line that can be altered in ways that still work, like here.
*sees 4/10, pulls up folding chair* this gonna be good.
River is far better than Love The Way You Lie in my opinion
I agree with u and sometimes it sounds like he's talking over the beat and not rapping. For real it was always hard to learn any of his songs but he "raps" so sloggish and with a simple flow on his album I learned offended in two days
I'll be 100% honest, this album is so oddball and ubiquitously jarring that I feel like this was intentional. Like this is what he wanted to do and there is something far different that he has up his sleeve. I don't like the album much at all (5/10 and that's being extremely generous), but I trust that he knows what he is doing. I hope.
I really pity the fact that he will have to eat the negative feedback. And unfortunately his next album will take the Recovery approach, apologizing for the last album and fighting to get the mainstream back. These are the bad times
This is why i like him over fantano, he's more accurate.
Now to mention has more reasonable reviews sometimes. Granted, there are times where I definitely agree with Anthony Fantano's reviews and even some viewpoints also, but there are certainly times where he's rather egregious in his own right.
You niggad trip. I like both opinions, why can't people watch multiple reviewers and understand that all of them make good points and are pretty consistent overall when it comes to ratings?
Alot of what Fantano says paints him in a bad light, especially how he associates certain things with certain settings(white girl rap for example). I think Fantano is very honest and more entertaining, but Mark is the better reviewer.
Guys, can we stop ragging on these guys and recognize that Jon from Artv is the most wrong out of all of them?
Jeeses99 But Young thug is actually decent though
I was very disappointed with the revival album I think it's Eminem's worst album yet. Bad beats, awful flow and like you said Bad mixing that probably had alot to do with his flow and vocals. There was bad features too and the only songs I liked are Castle And Arose cause the beats we're better and so was the flow there was more to those 2 tracks.
Yup this album is not good.
