Well this is the thing; the overwritten machine will always win against a non overwritten bc when level up in the machine category there are certain buffs to make ur overwritten machine stronger.
@NoxiousAsp really? Because from the video, it looks like that's the case. In the first round, see how fast Thunderjaw took down the slaughterspine. So, how come it wasn't the same or almost the same outcome in the second round?
The Thunderjaw gets several big advantages that make it more effective against other machines than its competitors. First of all, its forward profile is relatively compact for a machine of its size. Secondly, its rapid fire cannons and disc launchers are both positioned in ways that are extremely good for inflicting numerous hits on the vulnerable spots of a similar-sized machine, and also for focusing fire on a single target. Finally, its weapon attacks are Impact or Explosive, not elemental, so its damage never gets degraded by resistances.
The thing with the slaughterspine is, for it to do anything, it has to charge first, when the thunderjaw can pewpewpewpew right away, that's why in the first clip, she was just standing there while the thunderjaw was peppering her with disc launchers... that being said, even in the second clip, that slaughterspine was a bit too passive xD
Kinda makes sense since the slaughterspine was mainly made to kill people, so was the Tjaw ig but I think the spine is a little more focused in its particular field lol
As I first saw this spot in the DLC i was SO HAPPY. The developers probably had the same thought "maybe we should let the players actually have a chance to see our 2 apex predators go at it 1v1. And as a side note - i got there once to farm the Apex-Spine, but I actually got both of them in Apex variant. On ultra hard that is next to impossible to fight both of them so i Berserke'd them and the Jaw dismantled the spine in seconds - so not only has it the advantage when overwritten, but also in general I think. Mostly because of the disc launchers. Take those away and the Jaw stands next to no chance. Awesome to relive that with your video!
Every time I see these massive behemoths first thing that pops in my head is Jurassic Park 3 the Tyrannosaurus vs Spinosaurus. Just imagine how intense this battle would be if both Slaughterspine and Thunderjaw were both Apex. Talk about the battle of the Titans. 😈

Reminds me of the Rex vs Ray fight in MGS4, which of course gives the edge to which one is player-controlled and more aggressive! Anything can be taken down if it’s caught off guard with a barrage of attacks, just as we see with Aloy in both games!
I had overridden slaughterspine wearing level 1 Tenakth Tactician outfit which has machine elemental+ and machine health +1, and even with that thunderjaw still killed my slaughterspine with approximately 5-10% health left.
I did this. It took the slaughterspine about 3 overrides to finally kill the thunderjaw. It took the thunderjaw about 15 seconds to kill the slaughterspine. It's not even close. The slaughterspine is harder to fight but the thunderjaw's orbital lasers are just too OP.
I know this is much later than the video was posted, but i wanted to throw my two cents in. The slaughterspine wasnt made for total combat (machine and humans) it was made primarily for attacking humans. This is apparent by how long it takes for the slaughterspine to start attacking, due to its charging. So the thunderjaw being ready the second it senses danger makes it much better. The array of weapons being better and the speed of attacks makes it better. Slaughterspine's plasma is good only to the slitherfang, apex stormbird, and the apex Dreadwing. As far as the heavyweight machines go. Id take the thunderjaw into combat more times than the slaughterspine
It's nice that we finally saw a battle between two of the strongest machines in the game. Although, on the other hand, it seems a bit unfair, considering that the override machine is always stronger because of the machine-related skill tree. On another note, have you seen any new variants of pre-existing machines?
There are a lot of fire and even magma versions, such as glinthawks and tremortusks, but the biggest baddy is this toad-like creature that can do a lot of damage with its tongue and hopping all over the place!
When I played Frozen Wilds, I got pretty good at handling the Fireclaws. Then I went back and tried my hand at a Thunderjaw again, and nearly got my butt handed to me. They are absolutely nasty.
Oh yeah, Thunderjaws can be nasty if you don't eliminate their main weapons right off the bat. First thing you shoot is the disc launchers, radar and tail. Those disc launchers will easily overwhelm you if you leave em on long enough lol. Slaughterspine's were made to fight against humans and Zenith Spectre drones.
Whenever I set these fights up which ever machine I override tends to win when they are closely matched, I’ve overridden the Thunderjaw & The Treamourtusk in the Valley of the fallen on separate occasions & the victor has always been the overridden machine.
The overide makes them stronger. Gives them more health and elemental damage because of the skills. An overriden burrower can probably beat a regular slaughterspine
This might also come down to distance of when the machines fight, when the thunderjaw attacked the slaughterspine, it was noticeably far away. However when the slaughterspine fought the thunderjaw, they were right next to each other. I know this isn't realy in your control, but I feel at least some aspects of the fight were altered by this.
The reason the thunderjaw died so quick in rnd2 because he was in close quarter coombat, one effective method to kill the thunderjaw super quick is to shoot the disc when its over the thunderjaw right when he launches them. If you notice the slaughterspine does exactly that in round 2.
Before seeing the video I would bet my money on the Thunderjaw. That thing has some serious weapons to go on one‘s nerves.. but let’s see who it’s gonna be.
part of the problem here is that the Slaughterspine was caught off-guard and didn't even get the chance to turn round. in the second fight, both start out on an even footing
Finally. The battle you all been waiting for: Thunderjaw (Tyrannosaurus Rex) vs Slaughterspine (Spinosaurus) Round 1 - Thunderjaw (Tyrannosaurus Rex) REALLY SUPER FAST Round 2 - Slaughterspine (Spinosaurus) Question: How is this possible that the Thunderjaw and Slaughterspine are together?
My boy TJ only need 1 combo, to kill basically everything 😂 For some reason Overridden machines seems to be too OP in HFW, hard to judge correctly, on top of you said on the last live stream, that you'll play on "Hard" first DLC playthrough, this means your overriden machine even more buffed, on UH this fight will be more lengthy and fair hopefully 🦾🏹 Whenever it's possible I would love to see a rematch on UH 🦖🦖
Yes but you can also reset your skill three individually now thanks to the dlc so you could have new game plus reset the machine perk three get the skill points back and do the override without any buffs still I have no idea if noxiousAsp did reset there’s though would of been a good idea 🥺🥺🥺
I feel like the speed in which the thunderjaw took out the slaughterspine would vary depending on range due to it having a lot of ranged attacks while the slaughterspine having more close range attacks. same sort of variation would occur no matter which machine was overridden.
Thunderjaw is not strong against aloy (us) but against other machines he is the king. Thunderjaws artillery and head canons destroy all machines. Slaughterspine is way harder for aloy (us) but weaker against machines. His attacks are not that strong as Thunderjaws against other machines yk.

in my opinion Thunderjaw is designed to be a long range fighting machine while slaughterspine is designed to be a close range, they make up for each other that's what Hephaestus did, Evolving , Transforming machines makes them more dangerous
Oh yeah, when it comes down to weapons from machines the Disc Launchers are definitely the strongest. Which is why they only give you like 4 rounds with em lol.
I think if the slaughterspine used its plasma breath, it would've killed the thunderjaw faster But if the non overwritten thunderjaw was as aggressive as the overwritten one, the fight would've been much closer
They have the same problem with Monster Hunter series currently when it comes to creature vs creature (in this case, Machine vs Machine), they lack concrete different sets of moves for the monsters to use when facing something its own size. Low-trageting attacks and floor sweeping attacks are generally not the optimal choice for huge enemies when facing something that's their height.
That was an expected outcome tbh Slaughterspine is very underwhelming, it just looks cool, the Godzilla appearance and attacks are menacing but overall its AI needs to be a lot more aggressive to be even on par with Thunderjaw. Thunderjaw wastes no time, it will always shoot or charge and its weapons cover a lot of area and range. Slaughterspine on the other hand is just chilling, rarely charges, sometimes just does nothing, attacks with plasma instead of explosive damage.

If its in its plasma rage I think it would have a better chance of winning as in that state it is lethal. The thunderjaw needs no time as soon as it see you it wastes no time trying to bite, stomp, lazer down and rain death from above to kill you.
