    A couple years ago I bent my main bar in my home gym, a rogue 45 lb power bar, bare steel. 29mm dia. It’s either 200 or 210 ksi, nice steel. Top shelf power bar. But it got abused, dropped on a bench and took a bend. Probably 3/16” (3-4mm). I bought a second one to have a straight bar but the old one is my go-to squat bar, I will use it for rack pulls in near future. Worth learning even good bars aren't unbendable. Take care of them.

    Only Rip could take something you could explain in 30 seconds and draw it out to almost 10 minutes.
    The man who has the most basic program ever with starting strength, yet over explains EVERY. DAMN. THING.

    Bend it more and use it as a cambered bar?

    When I lived in the Philippines, the little gym I used had one bar and it was bent. I made do and got used to it. I did all the lifts except power cleans. Benching was the only lift that required me to slow down so I didn't have the bend rotating on me.

      Rusty, Rip, Nick and Andy Baker all know there stuff on programing.
      People just try to gaslight us to sell templates instead of reading a book on how to program.

    What if a bar is bent to the point that it forms a hex shape you can stand inside and grab onto high handles? ...asking for a friend

    What barbells does Rip recommend? I've always used Texas Power bars, and I haven't bent one yet. I also do block pulls instead of rack pulls, and Harrington squats off the suspended chain instead of Anderson squats off the pins.

  • @RichWithTech
    @RichWithTech 5 дней назад +1

    The real issue is when the bend in the bar is slight enough that you can't easily see it, then you find it rolls out of place mid squat

    I still use my bent bar. Use it for a semi-cambered bar, squats, rack pulls.

  • @DKriticos

    I have one exactly the same, almost 15 years of heavy pin squats and rack pulls do that.

    A bar that bent is useful when cut into smaller pieces for projects on my lathe. There is no point in keeping the crap. A barbell is not very expensive and even the cheapest is better than that.
