    I really like your willing to do it yourself and know your making improvements. Want to port a set of 318 and late 340 heads both !! Street and strip . Thank you Joe for sharing. Great work .

      feel it’s important to say , after we 2.02 the 360 heads .
      the , happy-happy outcome ,
      is the 1.88’s we’ve replaced are still within spec. for use in our build of the 318 heads .
      the combination of cutting a new seat while turning the 1.88 down to 1.86 , we can find ideal installed height .

      @@blairlindsay5791 thanks Blair. I am working with Ed at Ed’s machine on valve sizing and throat diameter. I was not the most accurate at measuring and practice. He has a combination of valves commonly used in the bow tie applications that is a good alternative as well.

      I'd like to play with some 360 heads on my 318 but I really go after compressed so I'd need to mill them a bunch to upper 50s cc area, 57/58 since I'm running flat top pistons and stock stroke.
      But with a 4" crank.....hmmm

    I did the same with my heads on my 70 challenger. The change to 1.88s and 1.60s made a big inexpensive improvement.

      Thanks for sharing, Don. These went on the 360 that went into the 65 coronet 4 door. That car would roast both back tires and had excellent throttle response.

    I really like that you work with 318 heads a lot . Most big horsepower guys and 340 guys think they are junk. I know they can be strong performance engines and are very similar to a 340 . But I do like the 302 casting heads n have watched you and one other U tuber port the 302 casting n what to and where to work them. I have heard guys say that the 67 to 72 318 head can make great street power . Thank you always for your sharing . Keep them vids coming. God Bless.

      @JustMoparJoe  2 года назад +1

      I appreciate that! These heads are perfect for the application. This engine is a 10/1 360 that’s going in a 65 coronet this year. Originally I had a larger cam more designed for top end. I’m switching it for a 340 Magnum style purple shaft. It will work really well with the compression and give that car more bottom end. Matching it with proper gears and converter, it should be a fun car!

    Can you just remove the material between the center cylinders?

    • @JustMoparJoe
      @JustMoparJoe  2 года назад

      You can remove it, but it’s not really as beneficial as you’d think. David Vizard always says the air goes where it wants, not where we want it to. I have some updated small block Mopar head porting videos with some more explanation.

    weld the crossover ports shut.. grind the welds flush and flat doesnt need to be machined or perfect..just filled and flat..see this operation on Uncle Tonys Garage on youtube..

      Heads are on my 360 that I did in the build series. It is going in my dart sport in the next month or two. I’ve got to paint that car. The engine has only ran on the run stand. Sounds good, but I don’t know what it’s done at the track. I’m calling the project reverse racecar. It will go in the car with a 904 and shift kit, and 3.73’s. I’m going to run the car with only bare essentials and one seat. Then put my interior in and see how much it slows down.

    Thanks for the video, is there any water jackets in the head that you need to avoid or any other no-go zones that a guy doing his own porting should be worried about?

    • @JustMoparJoe
      @JustMoparJoe  4 года назад +6

      Thanks Teagan for the comment. You'll notice in my video that my heads have the freeze plugs out of them. That's how I got them. Anyway, that's a water passage that passes through the head, mostly above the exhaust ports, on what I called the roof. The place inside the exhaust ports where I cut down the humps, would be a thinner spot if it was ground too much. That's why mine have a small divet right at the ports exit. The no go zones that I read about was grinding excess out of the floor of the heads, and on the short side radius(spot immediately inside the valve, where it makes a quick curve). It read that if you don't have a flow bench, to leave the SSR alone, because you could cause some kind of turbulence inside the port. I only knocked the casting flash off of both. The last key detail was to not polish super smooth the intake ports, because it "could" affect fuel atomization.
