A little history: the area where you guys are staying (Pelourinho) has a meaning. The word designates a pole where slaves were tied to and lashed in public until slavery was abolished in 1888. The pole used to be located in that área. Something cruel that should not be forgotten.

What you called "brigadeiro", actually it's more like an other dessert called "trufa", but probably with filling of "brigadeiro". The real brigadeiro it's just the condensend milk with chocolate, butter, all this cooked, and with sprinkles. Brigadeiro don't have a hard chocolate layer outside.

Hey guys! I’m glad you enjoyed Acarajé and Abara. About staying only 90 days here in Brazil: It’s very easy to extend that time. All you need to do if fill out a form, pay a fee (around $20 each) and go to a federal police station. You don’t need to give any reasons to have +90 days. This can come out handy once you’re still going to Amazon and it’s a big region to explore. I hope I’ll get some tips with you about north of Brazil cuz it’s a region that I also want to explore and I think it’s very rich. If you guys go to Pará you should try Tacacá, I know I would if I had the chance 😉

Brigadeiro is chewey, with the same consistency throughout the bite, and softer all around. It looks to me what you just sampled are Bon Bons, a French sweet delicacy the Brazilians adopted as one of their own. If the outer crust is slightly crunchy and the inner core is either soft or crunchy with a mish mash of other stuff then it is a Bon Bon. Just like the ones Peggy Bundy devours.
Anyhow, your gal is a gift to your audience. Glad seeing you are taking her “about town “. You can tell by her eyes she is relishing the moment. You both are like peas and carrots.

Q&A: Do you intend going to Foz do Iguaçu? It's in Paraná, the state is in the South of Brazil. If you decide, you're going to see the most beautiful falls in the world! Besides that, you can be in Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina at the same time, because it's a triple boarding countries.

This one, cocada, is not baked, we melt the sugar and add the coconut, mix until it gets thick, shape it and let it dry.

You need to try the ice cream from A Cubana (there's one in the Elevator Lacerda and one in Pelourinho), the best burgers in Brazil, from Bravo (at Porto da Barra and others places), drink some kinds of cachaça in O Cravinho (in Pelourinho). There's a very nice coffee shop nearby Pelourinho, it's called Cafélier, next to Convento do Carmo.
Hope you can go to Chapada Diamantina and/or Barra Grande.

Great video. You could say more about these ladies who sells Acarajé in Brazil. They are known as "Baiana do Acarajé" and samba schools in Carnival parades has a special wing to pay tribute to these ladies who created the samba in Brazil.
