Christ the Redeemer is an optical illusion. Because you can practically see it from many places in Rio, your mind becomes accustomed over the hours/days to think of it as small, only for that mental image to be blown away when you suddenly see it on top of Corcovado Mountain. The statue on its own is great, but mixed with that mental trick and the gorgeous surroundings it's truly the greatest statue in the world.

I love your Brazil vlog. Very unpretentious, informative and modestly funny. I was in Brazil in January of this year, just two weeks before the covid-19, on my two-month trip around the world. Only a week in Rio. ☹️ Not enough! But I fell in love with this country and its people. Readers of this vlog very often suggest many places to visit in Brazil. I propose to see and visit Niterói - a city in southeastern Brazil, connected to Rio de Janeiro by a bridge across the Guanabara Bay. The saucer-shaped Niterói Museum of Contemporary Art on the bay was designed by the Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer. Visit this very unconventional museum. By the way, due to some linguistic misunderstanding, I got off the bus one stop further and went for a longer walk to the Museum. I have never regretted this accidental misfortune! It is such a beautiful, lesser-known view of Rio, let alone seeing this example of modern architecture. Anyway, I love your vlog and admire you as a traveling couple.👏🎄🍻
I left Brazil for good, and will never return; however, I miss the food and the fruits very much, and seeing you eat makes my mouth water. I was on top of the Corcovado Mountain, right at the foot of the statue at 4:00 AM in early 1966, before Rio became a dangerous city. My ex-wife and I wanted to watch the sunrise from there, and we were rewarded with an amazing spectacle at around 5:30 AM. I was there again in November of 2018, when I brought my youngest son to see it, luckily on a bright day.
The American coffee that you drink there in the USA, for us Brazilians is like tea, very weak! The Brazilian coffee is smaller because it is very strong! It is not possible to see the whole city of Rio de Janeiro, the city is huge and from there Christ the Redeemer just to see a part of it. Most of the city is in the back of the mountains that are behind of the statue!

Loving your videos. Cariocas generally have no notion of how peculiar the city geography is - that incredible mix of mountains, city blocks and beaches alongside each other. I really liked that you chose Bibi Sucos to get that açai for breakfast. Bibi was also one of the main establishments responsible for popularizing açaí in Rio back in the 90's, when they started serving that carioca-style smoothie version, mixed with guaraná and granola on top. Since you are in love with açaí, if you guys are still in town - and in case you don't travel to Belém do Pará - try and get some real legit açaí at Tacacá do Norte, in Flamengo. That is the original Amazonian style of açaí (you case you go there, order a bowl with sugar and tapioca - not granola - on top).
