I'm confused, I have textbook (Espaces). They call the sounds in peur and oeuf open eu sounds. And they call the sounds in bleu and deux closed eu sounds. This is the opposite of what you're saying. Can you explain?
Sure Gabriel. Here I talk about how the sound is closed by another sound, or open (as with nothing following it). I find that it works better with my students to explain it this way, but please use the method you want :)
@@TheperfectfrenchwithDylaneThen it’s probably more correct to say that _the syllable_ is (phonetically) open/closed. That term is used for Latin and English.
The perfect French with Dylane Sorry, I wasn’t being clear. I mean, is the open sound similar to the first ur of the English word “murmur” or “fur” or “girl” or the American “er” as people usually say. Thank you! I love your videos. I have bought your book and I’m studying really hard.
Dylane You don't remember me? I'm Ángel, from México jaja. Haha thanks for welcoming me to you channel. But I'm not new. Comment allez vous. J' espére qe vouz allez bien? Muy french, Is correct?
Excellent question Jan. Eux is an open sound, like Jeu, Milieu, etc While J'ai eu is pronounced like a U. I am going to include this in my comment for everybody. I hope it helps 🙂
I have been trying to figure that out but I don't think my internet is good enough right now. With the confinement, more people are on it 😕 I would rather wait that have a video that cuts out all the time
Did you know about the 2 different pronunciations ?
Thank you for watching ❤️
You always knows about the weakness of your students, Hats off to you 🎩.

I'm a little confused about the pronunciation of en after i(bien, rien). It sounds more like in then en.
IEN is pronounced with a rolling I, followed by the sound IN :D I will make a sort video about it :)
@@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane Thank you so much!
So the letters (eu, œu) make that sound but how can I know it’s open or closed ?
It's all about if there is a letter after or not ;)
@@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane Thank you very much ❤️
I don't understand. Doesn't "eu" have an opened and closed sound by itself?
I am not sure to understand your question either 😅
