It warms my heart when ppl take out time to do this.
Very much appreciated.
Trying to pronounce french makes my head explode lol. Like, one word at a time is fine, but when I try to speak a flowing sentence with perfect pronunciation in one go, It's just a stuttering mess.
Practice makes progress. You'll get there
I took up German on Duolingo when Covid hit . I thought I'd never get the pronunciation!
So, instead of just typing the q and a lessons, I spoke every question and answer out loud for practice.
I started writing down the questions and answers and speaking the words as I wrote them. That helped stick the sounds to my brain. Something about forming the vowels and consonants with my pen while forming the sounds with my tongue creates the feeling of the sounds.
It slowly got easier and now the German words don't feel like tongue-twisters to my mouth .
Day 469! I'm brushing up my French too and studying Italian and Spanish.
Duolingo, movies, RUclips, music and books are the other resources that I have found helpful. I love screening French language films with French subtitles turned on. You can practice that way, too.
Your English accent is so good I didn’t know if you were a native french speaker or not at first.
As a native Spanish speaker who’s trying to learn French you have no idea how difficult pronunciation is for me! Thank you for this video
@julieeee1111 I'm a Spanish native speaker too and for me it's more difficult the pronunciation than the writing.
That's funny because as an English speaker who learned Spanish as my first Romance language, I always try to speak French with Spanish pronunciation too.
Me too is a litte bit hard because I speak brazilian portuguese.
@@souoseumadrugaaquelequecom5664 No offense, but I find that people who speak portuguese have the worst french accent.
I was trying the nasal ones, my mother thought I was watching porn.
OMG this is hilarious!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing :-)
Does speaking French with French accent sound like you are talking while having orgasm?
speaking with french accent is actually gives you orgasm
Hahahaha!
I really appreciate your method mm it is very nice...
I can't believe how stupid you probably think you look when you're editing these videos but this is SOOO helpful lol. Thank you for being brave!
Hahahaha this made me laugh a lot and yes you are right sometimes I have to be a little shameless ;-)
...stupid? or stupid sexy?
I was just thinking that, @French Truly TV you're taking one for the team here. I could never LOL
this.
Me practicing
My mom: Are u trying to kiss your freaking phone?
I shouldn't have read the comments before watching, now I'm trying not to laugh while practicing 😂🤣
you are really funny nice joke
😂
Your English accent is amazing! It's so difficult to master a foreign language's phonetics, especially if they're very different than your native language. I think this video is really helpful because you've already figured out how to adopt English phonetics. Very impressive!
I have learned your great French pronunciation. You're an awesome French teacher. Merci beaucoup.
Spoken French is a like a beautiful song to me - truly melodic when I listen to it, absolutely off key when I sing it!
And I'm here after French music

Merci 😊
i have been confused when using Duolingo alone to learn French.
Your demo helps me understand a lot. It’s fun to watch your video xie xie ni
Same I'm like: So I how do I say this? I know how to write this and KINDA say this but how do I say it normally with correct pronunciation.
Yeah, Duolingo isnt very helpful with pronunciations.
Same here
Taking French in school and I'm lost on the stuff you all do with your throat. Need a lesson on tongue placement and throat sounds
Just gather saliva in your mouth and hold it in place as u speak
This is what I was looking for! Your teaching is brilliant!
I'm struggling to pronounce the words with nasal sounds... If you could make a video on how to practice the nasal sounds as in excercises, it would be great! Thanks in advance!
Loads of love and best wishes from, India.
Tried it... Now i can't find my tongue
This video is really useful! I love how you show the articulation of the words (as a studier of linguistics that is particularly helpful). Thank you!!!!
This is great. So well done. I enjoyed watching and I'm not studying french
this is sooooo helpful! shaping my mouth to the vowel sound before saying a word makes it so much easier
I started a French class in my office today, and I am glad I came across your channel.
Your English is excellent; your teaching method superb; and you also look amazing - it is almost unfair having all these attributes ;)
Vous êtes super. J’aime vraiment ce cours que vous avez enregistré. Merci beaucoup.
I am learning French right now and it's been around 3 months. This video is very helpful and I recommend this to other French amateur learners who are looking to improve their speaking skills.
I learned French in high school on exchange. I became interested in phonetics when I took a class in college later. As an American girl, I really loved and appreciated your lesson! It was very thorough and it was perfect for me because your accent is very similar to mine. Thank you!!
I just looked at this video and I love the way everything is explained. I would love to see more. Thank you 🙏👍
i kept making these sounds unaware that my door was open, i think i have some explaining to do now.
Merci beaucoup. I have been learning French just for 1 week and I understood that the correct prononciation of sounds is the most difficult part for me. Your lesson is really helpful!
Thank you so much!!! This really helped since my French teacher just made my class repeat a few vowels twice, then moved on to something else and she’s never reviewed vowels again. Now we don’t know how to pronounce things correctly and just try to imitate the pronunciation of the teacher but fail pretty badly at it. This will be very useful, thanks!!!!!
I love your way of teaching the proper pronunciation.
Thank you for making this video I love the explanation it makes a big difference for me to practice French.
i swear u have made me love this language ... thank you
I've watched this video over and over. Thank you so much for helping me with the pronunciation. :)
Ohh great! Your gesticulate, accents are very impressive as well as the way of advising is excellent for me (and all) how to learn and speak. Thanks dear
Merci beaucoup! Very well illustrated and explained.😀
She is such a fun teacher~ 🥰
im glad you have exaggerated it! Merci beaucoup.
This is so much fun! Thank you 💖
you know how to teach!
it really helps to show mouth close up, the side profile, as well as familiar words.
bravo
I like this lady, good pronunciation and slow. Merci
That was great, This video solves many problems in the pronounsiation. You look so sweet and you are very kind teacher
Merci ! That is exactly what I was looking for 👍🏼
Thank you so much! That's very helpful and clear!
From what I’m learning/observing: 1. The French mouth is held much firmer than the relaxed English speaking mouth. 2. French syllables seem to, more often than not, end on a vowel sound rather than the much of the consentent ending English syllables. 3. French doesn’t use the long diphthongs like we do in English. Am I correct with these?
Yes.
absolutely, much firmer
I think all romance languages have this trait in which we " exaggerate or lip movement to pronounce words properly, which does not happen in English, that's why when I speak English I fell my tongue numb
When English speakers use French words they're pronounced "wrong," but when French speakers use English words they're pronounced "with an accent." 🤔
English words can usually be pronounced differently as long as the right consonant sounds are made and it will still be understandable. In French, incorrect pronunciation can render many words or phrases difficult to understand.
Ha, so true. I’ve noticed that if you don’t speak French perfectly to a French person, they look at you blankly like they have no idea what you are saying. Whereas, English speakers deal with foreign accents in English every day and work through it, trying to understand. People speak heavily accented, fluent English and never attempt to change and that should be fine.
@@susie2251 The reason for that is that English speaking countries are overrun with "pRoGreSsIve LiBeRaL" who will attack you if you judge peoples accents. Legit go to any non English speaking country (that isn't in Europe) and try speaking their language, most people there will just laugh when you're not looking.
Also people from Niger and Senegal speak French identical to that of actual French people. Something about French must make it harder for accents to be created, is what a French guy once told me. This is probably why they look confused when they hear non perfect French.
@@nafserasd3870 That's not inherent to the language. It's inherent to the people. Americans are exposed to all kinds of different accents every day and we learn how to understand foreign accents from a young age. We simply have contact with too many second language speakers to not develop a skill for understanding foreign accents. French people, on the other hand, don't. That's why they are so anal about pronunciation. A Frenchman can horribly mangle English but we still make it our duty to understand him. It's the reverse in France.
Thanks for the lessons, they are amazing, you are a great teacher. With all due respect you look and speak like Tina Fey. Tina is a great comedian.
This young lady is a truly great teacher.
So true. I have always tease my French Husband saying French has so many nasal sounds. This video really helps. I do feel I sound more gentle when speaking French... Hehe.

Excellent video. Thank you!
you're awesome, this has been very helpful!
Great video. So easy to follow and fun :)
These life changing tips! thank you
Your pronunciation is so helpful!! Thank you! I would make one point coming from a man who lives in a very bilingual area (English/Spanish) - if the French is mispronounced in English, then it is the same the other way around. Though I would prefer to say as you said of the English used in every day French, that the English has now taken these French words into its own language and accent (if partially for many words) - as is the normal development of language. Anywho, please don't let this make you think I am not extremely grateful for your help in my pronunciation of French! Besides helping when I am visiting France (and Geneve), this helps me look better in front of my English speaking students at home (even though they can't tell that I am not pulling off the accent perfectly).
Vous êtes belle♥️ merci beaucoup pour l'enseignement
