Those aren’t ‘mistakes’, he pluck them in those circumstances and chooses the type of guitar and strings to achieve that sound because he knows it hits your nervous system the way it does. He’s creating a mood in your body that you aren’t conscious is being done.

Everything Ren does is either fun, sad, outrageous, crazy, deep with meaning, or educational.
He surprises most of us with the skills he has that can draw you in. And he does DRAW you in, makes you LOOK makes you THINK makes you want to KNOW more.
I personally think Ren is a natural chameleon, and he uses that "innate talent" and is very creative with it.

When you have seen what Ren is capable of with his writing, music, direction, guitar playing, acting, direction, etc it seems obvious that any and all imperfections in voice, singing and instrumentation are deliberate to add to the whole atmosphere and context of the song/story

Ren can paint a picture in your mind like no other. It's better than watching a movie, he captures your attention and then begins taking you on a journey with him that is so vivid it ignites your imagination. First time I saw this video (also Hi Ren) I was numb and had goosebumps at the same time by the end!
I've often thought that Ren is the Quentin Tarantino or Guy Ritchie of music and music videos.

I just realized that thing he does after he says we have to go back for Violets tale is the noise that shows use for flashbacks
You'd be surprised just how many people miss that, despite him saying that's exactly what he's going to do, and the camera specifically focusing on the guitar, not Ren while he's doing it. However of those that do catch it (mostly reactors who have a guitar background) - almost no reactor notices (or at least comment) that he plays it forward again after the Stevie and Violet scene - symbolising that now he's showed us Violet's past - he's taking us to back to the present (which happens to be 2005)
From what I understand, he wrote the first 2 songs after reading an article about a very young man murdering a young woman in London, he didn't write "Violet's Tale" until a few years later and that one was of his own making. He said that there are 2 songs so far that he wrote, that he knew in his gut were special. "Hi Ren" (of course) and "Violet's Tale". (He was right on both counts imo.) Some people are born to play an instrument. Some are born to sing. Some to write lyrics. Ren was born to make MUSIC.
He’s also said he knew he had something special with Money Game Pt 2 and the “she sells seashells” part.

Yes they are all live in one take. Ren read a newspaper report about a prostitute being murdered by a 14yr old, and the Tales were born. But the details are all his twisted imagination!

Nice reaction, you would do well to read up on Ren’s background, he has had it tough but has battled hard to get where he is. He is a once in a lifetime artist. You cannot put him in a box and every song is like a lucky dip where every prize is a winner. Not bad for a wee Welsh lad who has suffered more than most of us will ever know.

One subtle clue to the twist, that i happened to catch after the first few of over 100 listens, was when Ren mentioned in Jenny’s Tale that screech was 14 years old. In Violet's Tale, Ren tells us that the year is 2 0 0 5. If you Add 14 years, you are in 2019, the year that Violet's Tale premiered.

All of the nuances and hints have you so invested in all three songs that he can actually pull off that surprise ending WITH THE PAUSE after “twins” and you still don’t see it coming until the very last line. That’s talent.

This young man is so incredibly talented. After coming across and listening to Hi Ren I had to look for more of his music. I found a bunch of street performances with a band they call the Push or Big push. There is a cover of Bob Marley and the Whalers I shot the sheriff worth checking out. Go down the rabbit hole of Ren. You will not be disappointed.

Great reactions. That said, I get frustrated with some reactions when it's missed how he describes Jenny....why would a 14 year old be walking the same street a 1000 times, in high heel shoes? Almost no one seems to catch that. Did you? Also, for "Screech's Tale", it seems that almost no one catches that Screech's girlfriend and his friend Patrick, happen to be "busy", or not available, at the same time. Consider why. Maybe they were together? Patrick wasn't home...was he with Screech's girl at her place and that's why she was "busy"? It adds a whole other layer to the story. Also consider that Jenny and Screech were born side by side, and essentially died side by side, one street apart. Born on the same day (2005), died on the same day (2019). An entire family, mother and twins that never knew each other, wiped out by a cycle of violence. An abused mother, a 14 year old prostitute, and a 14 year old thug/murderer. Powerful stuff. Not sure if you caught it or not, but he did all 3 songs in a single take each, just like "Hi Ren". In "Violet's Tale", the way he uses the acoustics of his environment to accentuate the song is absolute brilliance. The man is truly special.
He doesn't actually mention that Jenny is 14 years old, so yes it is easy to miss that, as there is no evidence presented for it.
Only wanted to note that, when restarting the video after a pausing to comment, it would be better to rewind 5 seconds to allow it to move on better.
Into Ren: 10 days in.
I saw something where he was saying that he set up a publicity thing before he released the tales. I can't remember the full details but he set it up that somebody had stolen his phone and was using it.. They went on his social media account and posted videos of Screech (aka Ren) verbally abusing his girlfriend and being horrible to his mate Patrick, setting the whole story up. I think it sort of backfired and they threatened to stop his account so he had to come forward and admit it was a build up for his release. Try and find it , it's really interesting

You should listen to his track Patience from the film Unrest. The fully produced version is credited to Bear McCreary who did the soundtrack. Ren out Sheeran's Sheeran on that one.
7:58 He is so mad because his best friend is "missing" and his girlfriend is "busy"; they were together. That is why there is so much rage. Ren is a modern day Shakespeare/ type writer; both musically and written word. With the storytelling of a Bard. I time travel when I listen to Ren's music. Also, 10:45 there is a clip somewhere where a master musician plays a "terrible note" on stage in front of MANY amazing performers. It showed different pictures of the faces they were making while hearing this. The musician then took the "terrible note" into a set-up that would be impossible to play and sounded phenomenal. You can make bad notes good if you are good enough. Thanks for the video.

Ren paints such a strong picture with his words that I was visualising Violet, and what her father and Stevie did to her. Like a movie was playing in my head.
For me, they way he keeps mentioning her being silent and repeating the question ‘Violet, why are you so quiet’. Hit hardest for me. She couldn’t speak out against the abuse

This particular song reminds me of the Canterbury Tales, poetic in how the characters intertwine their relationships in the different movements. Many movements, 1 song; just as many tales, 1 book. Chaucer is looking down, gesturing, saying, "This. This guy gets it."

Great reaction guys, Ren is an absolute master at storytelling and I personally think that this trilogy is the best of the best in this realm.
After listening to it a few times you will notice that Violet's traits are much alike Jenny's and also Stevie's are like Jimmy's (Screech) and although never meeting genetically similar.
Little Easter egg of both Jenny and Screech being 14 and the time stamp in Violet's tale 2005.
This art installation covers music, english, poetry and cinematography unlike anything that I have seen before and.......... each section are one take live performances making this that much more impressive.
Hopefully the RENegades (Ren fans) support you well during your dive into this once in a lifetime artist.

This music video is a masterpiece, he show how good he is in Singing / Playing Guitare / playing as an actor / Do the Story teller like a Bard. And like you said, every words make us feel the moment he tell in this story (Based for the 2 first stories to a true story). I heard he learn to play guitare with tutorials on RUclips.....WTF !! A Genius who have some difficulties to accepted all this good feeling/words he received from reactors/ fans. I work in my openspace with all his songs in my ears. I'm losing it.

If you're just starting down the Ren rabbit hole buckle up lol. This guy does these live for one, and he's one of those prodigy type guys that come around once in a great while. I can go on and on about his talent but nobody does this sums it up pretty well. And he opened a UK door for me, I keep up with UK battle rappers but that's about it..I didn't realize there was still talent like this up there and I have explored some others. And as a guy from Kansas City who is used to rude American folks for the most part it's nice also interacting with some amazing people that his fanbase opened up to me. I must pay a visit one of these days, be amazing to catch him doing some busking..(hope I said that right lol)
