I mean…😂 I love Ren but I love my sleep even more ! I’m a mean b*tch when someone messes with my sleep…😬 I’d be pretty pissed if I heard a guy yelling « and they call me fucking screeeeeeech!!!!! » in the streets in the middle of the night!!! 😂😂😂
I totally get those people. But also, I totally get Ren. One of the rare times where the "annoying main character" people trying to film are actually creating something amazing.
It's interesting that the first comment I'm coming across is about THAT breath. I've watched several reactions for this, but for some reason, that breath caught my attention this time. It makes you think he's about to speak after drawing that breath. Instead it's like, "Okay I got something to say... no wait a minute, y'all ain't ready yet."
It's so amazing. He sings like screech and acts as screech. Then he acts and sings as narrator. Then he just acts as screech calling on the phone. Then he sings and acts as screech calling out the cops. Then he sings as Narrator but ACTS as screech running for Richard as Sam acts as Richard backing up. Then he sings as Narrator but acts as Richard now and Sam acts as screech... Mind Blowing..
I'm 47 years in the film business and I lock onto the same kinds of things Joe does. So impressive that anyone would have the patience and drive to do complex one takes such as Ren does. As I understand it, there was a story in the paper of a 14yr old boy who stabbed a young prostitute to death (stabbings being a common form of assault in London), with the police saying "it's such a shame." Ren then wove the rest of the story around the murder.
@Joe E Sparks Thanks, Joe... almost 48. I started in 1975, and it's been one helluva ride. I can tell you love it, and that will guide you. All the best to you, Joe.
i never understood that tbh. jenny and screetch are twins. screetch was confirmed to be 14. so.. so wouldnt jenny also be around that age? or did i completely misunderstand the story

@@xdra7657 She was a young "night worker"(High heels and 14 years old. Walking the same streets every night). I guess she had to earn a living. Ren doesn't says it directly.
Every time I see this trilogy, I’m blown away. The simplicity is so effective. I cannot believe how Ren can walk -talk sing -rap -hit marks -play-and act transitioning from character to narrator to character…I love this so very much.❤❤❤❤❤
I keep watching it for video production tidbits. For instance, Screech’s phone call did show anger and desperation BUT I think it was also a clever device they used to reposition Ren facing down a different alley than the one he first came down. It provided the setup for REN’s BACK to be toward the camera and walking away which made it possible for Sam to approach from behind and then swing around for the epic confrontation. Very clever!!!
My favorite part to watch out for is in Violets tale at 20:24 when Ren sings "she never stood a chance" and the camera pans up - what's so cool about this is that Ren sings up into the stairwell in order to change the way his voice sounds, the stairwell adds far more echo and gives an etheral sound to his voice. He's literally using the surrounding environment to change how his voice sounds. Its genius.
I think I've watched the video easily over 100 times already and I still get chills every single time I listen to it. It just gets better everytime, he truly is a genius, he's like a modern day Shakespeare, he's just oozing with talent and he's so humble aswell.
not only is the music and the story fantastic, but the acting is top notch. plus, BIG kudos to Sam with the sly movements like when Screech “turns to face the blue lights” and Sam catches up and gets back in front of Ren. also, when Ren is talking about Jenny being nervous while walking, he looks behind like somebody was following. the little things are quite impressive.
Apart from the story, the lyrics, the acting, the cinematography and everything, I'm also blown away by how the acoustics of the different rooms fits the different parts of the song!
Watching this from a videographer's perspective made me notice more things, too. Like, in Violet's tale, when Ren is singing about Stevie as he climbs up some stairs. How the heck did Sam climb up the stairs backwards in front of him? A detail unrelated to filming - a voice coach reactor said that "trumpet" sound at the very beginning is a vocal warmup technique. Then he coughs. So he's a bard/minstrel warming up his voice & then clearing his throat as he gets ready to perform.
Have seen this video numerous times….it NEVER gets boring. Every time is just as captivating and good as the first time. Kudos Ren & Sam. Good times BP & Joe ✌🏻🙏🏻😊
The family traits goes even deeper. Jenny was silent/frozen like her mother Violette but also like her grandmother who was the silent drinker. And screech was violent like his father stevie, and his grandfather that done the horrible things to Violette. The traits go through generations. And also, screech went to Patrick's for help but he wasnt home and something more sinister awaits. So he called his girl who was "busy" with Patrick. Adding more fuel to the fire when he turns to face the blue lights... Great reaction boys! Liked and subbed 👌🤌🤙🔥❤️
It's the small touches like the heavy breathing when he makes the phone call. He's run from the scene of killing Jenny to Patrick's house and is still catching his breath after failing to find sanctuary at Patrick's house.
Loved watching your heart bursting moments in those stunning guitar pieces ❤😊 always feel like my body and soul are smiling all over watching and listening to Rens creations 😍😃
When I play guitar I get so hyperfocused people can have whole conversations with me and none of it gets in. I can't do anything but focus on the fretboard and my picking. Ren's playing, singing, walking, acting...I'm just gobstopped every time I see him one-take his way through another masterpiece.
Ren tells the stories and the filming of the stories are all done so well i found myself looking for the bodies laying on the ground. The saddest thing about this is the fact each of these things are happening in every country at this very moment and the cycle continues
Kudos to all the videographers who make stories come alive for artists! Ren's Trilogy is a masterpiece and as shocking as the story goes, Ren manages to bring awareness about the violence in the streets of London! This time i noticed Violet's name on the foot of the bed! Your guest is on a Ren journey and its fun to watch him fall down the Ren rabbit hole along with the rest of us! Thank you for introducing another guest to Ren 😊🎉❤
Joe, watching you so enthralled and engrossed in all that you were witnessing like you were sat in the front row of a huge theatre production for the first time was a beautiful thing to witness. I love all that you noticed and appreciated . Im so excited for Ren's Neflix series and i can see you'll be hyped for that too! Just spotted you've reacted to Animal Flow so cant wait to go watch you react to another one take Ren visual (and audible) Feast.
As genius as Ren is, I’m so glad to see Sam getting his due. Love his cinematography! Came here from your great reaction to Money Game with BP and subbed. Love your enthusiasm! You’re giving some of the best reactions I’ve seen!
I love your insights on Ren's videos! I'm glad BP has turned you on to this awesome complex, talented artist. I still get choked up at the end of this one. It's a crazy emotional story and Sam's work definitely adds to the emotional aspect. How did those two ever find each other???!!! Thank god they did.
The videography is so wonderfully choreographed. It has helped wake me up to so much of the subtle artistry that is involved. It helped me realize that part of the art is presenting what they want you to see exactly how they want you to see it without all the complexity it took to create it being visible. It is like creating the videography while trying to hide all the labor and challenges of actually doing the creation. Videography is visible art created invisibly.

I noticed the intros sort of foreshadow the story - like Screech's intro starts tense and fretful, reflecting Screech's fear, then explodes into dazzling fingers dancing angrily across the strings.
This trilogy of songs reminds me yet again that Ren is a once in a lifetime, special talent. I agree we must protect (but share) him at all costs. Thanks for explaining the videography angle
Joe , i just want to say , your appreciation was a sight to behold . Any artist, such as yourself, coming away from Ren and Sam saying that he is inspired makes me excited to see where that inspiration leads. Loving you reactions/ insights . BP , thanks for sharing the wealth.
Great reaction Joe. You really need to see the one shot video for Animal Flow too. The videographer is different for that one (Luke Flegg) but Ren (who was director and producer for that video) has said it's his most ambitious to date - at least until Money Game Part 3 comes out.
Joe, I love watching you react to these songs. Its so obvious from the look on your face and the movements you make how deeply you appreciate music. It brings a smile to my heart. 🎶
This is my favorite Jenny and Screech breakdown and reaction I’ve seen. I love the production/direction part. I love all of the sides of looking at certain artists and Ren is one I love to hear other professionals talk about because even you guys excited and inspired. It will bring out the best in the future because of it and that’s good for all of us music fans ❤
First off, I LOVE your reaction. It's great to hear your perspective on Ren AND Sam's work. There is something that I noticed both times BP has brought someone on to warch the tales. He is all fine enjoying the music and the story. Until, Violet's Tale. If you play it back, check his demeanor. He KNOWS how the story is about to unfold. He is physically uncomfortable. This story, Violet particular hits him HARD. You distracted him twice and he was able to snap out of it. If you notice, the third time he was too tensely wound up. Foreknowledge eating at him. He even seemed upset at the end. When he did the recap. Sounds as though he will be bringing Andi Roo on to see it as well. Curious if it will continue to have this effect on him? Anyway, just something I found interesting. Ps. At leat you have two more Ren songs that you can listen to. Lol
Yes I notice that too - the change of expression on BP’s face in Violet’s tale - it almost caused me to start welling up as well. Joe is a really perceptive person - I would love to watch a movie with him - his face is a reflection of what’s on the screen .
Violet's Tale is close to being better than Hi Ren imo. That haunted singing at the beginning as he looks around the room confused, like Violet waking up in the hospital. When he stares into Violet's eyes after lifting her eyelids. The brutal re-enacting of the abuse. The whole thing is just chilling, and so perfectly executed in every way. Hi Ren is very special, but Violet's Tale is like the pyramids. Just... how? If it took them 186 takes to nail Money Game, I can't imagine what Violet's Tale was like. It's 100x more complex in every regard. It's a masterpiece masterpiece, and JoeE's insights into the filming side helps me appreciate it even more. Looking forward to more reactions bro, wherever you post them.
One of the things I don't see often mentioned is that since they were twins Jenny was also 14 like Screech. What is a 14 year old doing walking the streets late at night in high heeled shoes?
Black P, you should make a shirt or hat with the BP side-eye and sly grin that is given by you every time you have someone in the studio and you are introducing them to any Ren song! It's the best! Cuz you know what's coming and what they are in for and it's so much part of the reason i watch every single one of your Ren reactions! Love JoeE. I subscribed to his channel after i saw him for the first time on your channel. Thank you for introducing us to other great talent/great minds while you are introducing them to Ren! It's like a two-for-one type deal! Everyone wins!
My favourite moment in violets tale is when the camera is out of focus and then he said "reaches for her eyelids and folds them up". The focus then returns to his face like we (the camera) are the eyes of violet. It really sells the lyric and Stevie's aggression. Also, the red haze Ren is lit by after Screech is shot. It's just phenomenal storytelling.
Always love the reactions to the Jenny and Screech trilogy- the realisation at the end when the twist is revealed is always amazing to witness. But, it’s only when you stop and consider all the elements needed to make this trilogy. The storytelling, the acting, the playing, the cinematography and you think deeply about what the events in the story mean that you realise what an amazing piece of art this is. Love to see Joe E’s reactions, his unfettered enthusiasm for what Ren and Sam have produced and his insights as a videographer all make for a great reaction. 🔥🔥
I love it when Sam is circling Ren in a whirlwind sort of chaos the likes of which are going on in the character Screech's head at that moment in the story.
Ya'll should do Ren and Sam Tompkins Blind Eyed featuring parking lot attendant. Its a one take with an unexpected interruption , and they just KEEP GOIN'!!! Busted guitar string and all
Yeah that one is absolute fire - even with the parking attendant yelling at them to stop the singing and get out they keep singing and filming . Little did the parking attendant know that he will be immortalized . This was his 15 mins of fame .
I had to come back over here after watching the live and watch it again and this story still brings me to tears because it’s so often these messed up situations due to how life so unkindly does people
As a videographer myself watching you react the same way I did was really fun. I personally have not attempted a one take but believe me when I tell you I know how hard it is. Just subbed to your channel my friend and I look forward to your insight on whatever you decide to break down. peace from NYC
Ren saw a story about a 14, yo was arrested for murder- and he could not get it out of his head wondering how it came to that. I think this trilogy also speaks to the cycle of violence.
There is a huge difference in the fact that violet saved her children from her choices as where her mother sacrificed her to them... goes to show tho that it does truly take a village bc without people on the same page the changes or sacrifices of a single individual more often than not go unnoticed 😢 Much love and mad respect ❤️❤️ #Ren #Sam #BP & #JoESparks
Fantastic reaction - you guys helped me better understand the technical and musical aspects of filming. I came to this channel from P's channel. I'm a Colorado Springs guy and I wasn't aware that there is such a vibrant music community in the area. New subscriber, looking forward to more.
Upon the rewatch, take note of the sound changes created by the environment, such as the hallway and staircase. These little, incredibly well planned textures add layers to the song and video.
Ren wrote these tales after reading about a 14 year old boy who committed murder. He was trying to wrap his head around that, and it led to him writing the first two--and then later, Violet's tale. What's really remarkable to me is his empathy for these characters, even Screech.
Been waiting for you to see this one! love your enthusiasm and passion my guy. Cant wait to see what you put out next due to the inspiration. At least thats how i always feel with music after hearing something dope AF! Haha stay good brotha!
Joe, loved your reaction, so impactful to see which parts of both the story/song and the videography made you clutch your chest, and which parts just had you frozen, open-mouthed and glued to the screen. There's nothing quite like that first experience! You know what I'd really like to see as well? Your thoughts on this piece after you've had plenty of time to watch it repeatedly, pause and rewind and study it to your heart's content. If that's something you would enjoy doing, I would HAPPILY watch a long video of you analyzing every choice Ren and Sam made that speaks to you as a videographer. I was already subbed to you after your first visit with BP but I'll definitely be watching my feed for more great stuff from you. 🖤
For story telling, this piece is fantastic & so emotionally powerful. My favourite moment: Ren using the natural acoustics of space in the 3rd piece, and singing up into to stairwell to give the line "she never stood a chance" that reverb so the line sounds like divine prophecy. The attention to detail!
@@dosdan The latest Twitch stream featured a collaborator named Josh, who helps with the shoots. I wonder if they simply did step counts to prepare & if Josh helped guide Sam. I think Sam mentioned the camera they use is quite heavy.
I've got boy and girl twins their 21 now and my boy looks like me but has his mum's personality, daughter look just like her mum, but definitely my personality. So I can see how jenny & screech ended the way they did. New sub here brother love your energy and knowledge thanks man
Hi Joe e Sparks and Black Pegasus. This was an absolutely soul wrenching story. It speaks to me, life is so precious. The generational awareness, I've heard them, also my own. Silence. This will speak to alot of people. Keep on being a light, Ren. And Reactors, video photographers(?)your reactions are much appreciated, because of the amount of time and work put in. This is the reward, shining that light. Speak it...🙏☝️🖼☝️🎇🤓
Your reaction was genuinely enjoyable. I'm so glad to see you shout out this kid who fit a genre, doesn't care about the 3min standard for a song or how anyone else does it.
Something that doesn't get immediately noticed is the (very intentional) use/change of acoustics. When he heads into the hall, the heavy reverb gives it a dreamy/flashback quality. When he comes out into the stairwell, he's singing upwards in a higher pitch to give "She never stood a chance" the haunting quality, then immediately moving towards the doorway to stifle it. It's truly amazing how many details he takes in. Chalk Outlines (with Chinchilla) also uses an amazing combo of videography and acoustics.
Violets tale gives me goosebumps like dance with the devil (immortal technique) if any Ren fans haven’t heard that song, PLEASE LISTEN!! Edit - so glad you mentioned it Pegasus 👍🏻👍🏻
Screech is a street kid and Jenny is in high heels ,aged 14 and has walked these streets a thousand times b4.. born and lain side by side and died the same night side by side on parallel streets.. walking , singing, acting and predominantly in the dark. Loved you fellas react.
Awesome reaction. Came from BP channel but Ive subbed here to see what I can learn here. One thing I luke about this video is it shows the creativeness with the one takes doesnt just end at the visuals. In Violets tail you can see ren using a tall open stairwell to get some great sounds with his voice (even going into his falceto voice at that point) and then when hes doing the knocking bit in violets tale his voice into the wall also gives it a more ominous sound. Id love to know more about how they do the sound recording for these as im almost certain they are not using a prerecorded sound track
The way he acts with his eyes is unbelievable. It is like a whole new level of story telling. I know he isn't the first to do it but he is on another level with it.
I would expect he would have picked up on on the markers on the wall for Ren to stop at and/or to set focus. As well into the echo/reverb changed by locations…
This and High Ren make me tear up every time! Honestly if Ren ever changes his artistry from music he should be an actor! He's Extremely gifted/talented! Well done Ren.
The theme of generational trauma is so well presented and captured in this video. Loved y'alls commentary and recognition of just how hard making this must have been!
I really love your reactions from a videographer's perspective, I've just subbed and am going back through your other videos. Shout out to BP for putting this out on your channel first, he's a definition of a homie.
I'm loving the work here. The phenomenon of children repeating abusive cycles is well studied in psychology in twins. There is also a study of rats, where they electroshocked rats who ate from a blue dish or something, and then they bred the rats and 2 generations later the rats were still afraid of the blue dish, despite never having been electroshocked. DNA is powerful shit.
I saved this reaction and money game for this morning to tide me over until the new video. And then I learned that you are about to do animal flow! Best morning ever!

That's a dope catch of BP...I'm run this back and watch him this time
Violet's Tale is close to being better than Hi Ren imo.
I will never tire of listening to this. Breathtaking story telling and he’s a great actor too!
Busted guitar string and all
+1
Yeah that one is absolute fire - even with the parking attendant yelling at them to stop the singing and get out they keep singing and filming . Little did the parking attendant know that he will be immortalized . This was his 15 mins of fame .
@@Silkytoaster immortalized as a toy in Ren's store? 🤣
I have to see this!!!
@@joeesparks7 yes sir you do!!!
How could you not support Joe E Sparks ☮
Thank u Libby, I super appreciate it🙏🏽
I had to come back over here after watching the live and watch it again and this story still brings me to tears because it’s so often these messed up situations due to how life so unkindly does people
Here for it let’s go!!!
Thank u so much!
The live stream feed went away... so greetings and salutations here!
Hello Greg, I appreciate ya coming over here to say hi as well !
I was so confused when this popped up because I'm terrible with names, but I'm here and understand now haha subscribed and liked
Thank u Ceekayy, I hope u enjoyed!
Such a GREAT reaction! I love how hyped you got... reminded me of myself lol.
I can't help it, Ren get me that way!
As a videographer myself watching you react the same way I did was really fun. I personally have not attempted a one take but believe me when I tell you I know how hard it is. Just subbed to your channel my friend and I look forward to your insight on whatever you decide to break down. peace from NYC
Peace Joe...I'm glad u enjoyed the reaction. And I super appreciate the sub my man!
I love how much Joe appreciated what Ren and Sam have done here. Great to see ❤
First reaction to this that I've seen of this song that called out the Husker starter jacket. You earned my sub right then! GBR!
I LOVE the pauses in music as he's using his hands to paint a story 😍 especially in Violet's Tale
Thank You Joe💙💎🕊️
Thank You BP 💙💎🕊️
Ren saw a story about a 14, yo was arrested for murder- and he could not get it out of his head wondering how it came to that.
I think this trilogy also speaks to the cycle of violence.
There is a huge difference in the fact that violet saved her children from her choices as where her mother sacrificed her to them... goes to show tho that it does truly take a village bc without people on the same page the changes or sacrifices of a single individual more often than not go unnoticed 😢
Much love and mad respect ❤️❤️ #Ren #Sam #BP & #JoESparks
Fantastic reaction - you guys helped me better understand the technical and musical aspects of filming. I came to this channel from P's channel. I'm a Colorado Springs guy and I wasn't aware that there is such a vibrant music community in the area. New subscriber, looking forward to more.
Thanks for watching Thomas...I was also shocked when I moved out here!
At the end of Screech's Tale when he is kneeling down a d singing, its like what police or detectives do when looking at dead bodies.
The aptly termed BardCore. Ren and Sam are both amazing! Your reaction on this got you a new sub :) (I am sure more than one!)
Upon the rewatch, take note of the sound changes created by the environment, such as the hallway and staircase. These little, incredibly well planned textures add layers to the song and video.
As a videographer, you'll love his video for Animal Flow.
Thanks Shawn, it's in the works as we speak
LOVED every minute of this. Joe E needs to be a regular collab and P on his channel. ❤❤
"She never stood a chance.
The devil comes to dance."
Probably my favorite Ren moment.
Mine too
How did Sam film so steadily walking backwards up the stairs?
@@dosdan I've asked that too.
No one answered.
Speak it...🙏☝️🖼☝️🎇🤓
It’s a full circle. Jeremy & Screech entered the world lying near each other on the street and left the world in exactly the same way.
Thank u
In my country man with guitar calls trubadur, singing in the streets especialy in the south of country in the Adriatic see.
There are similarities.
👊🏽💯
Also Jenny has "Twintuition" where one twin can sense the other ones thoughts.
Here we go!!!!
👊🏽💯
Please continue to do Ren reactions. Your input from your perspective and experience is magnificent!!!
Wow, what a great move to post it on Joe's channel! BP is taking example from Ren clearly! ❤
BP is the man, I'm just lucky to be friends with him!
@@joeesparks7 He sure is! And he is lucky to have a friend like you!
Joe bobbed and weaved with every move Ren did , ive never seen anybody get so into this , brilliant reaction 👌
This song is soooo good
Awesome reaction.
Yet another brilliant reaction Mr BP and the lovely Joe! Loved it! ❤ Btw, Mushy Peas was Ace, so funny x
Thank u Bev C
I would expect he would have picked up on on the markers on the wall for Ren to stop at and/or to set focus.
As well into the echo/reverb changed by locations…
Hi Joe E... Black Pegasus sent me. New subscriber here.
It sounded like you haven’t seen immortal technique “dance with the devil” love to see you check it out! Great reaction my man!
Loved the reaction! Thank you 🙏
I really love your reactions from a videographer's perspective, I've just subbed and am going back through your other videos. Shout out to BP for putting this out on your channel first, he's a definition of a homie.
Thank u, I'm going to continue reacting from a videographer pov! And yes, BP is a true friend
Thanks for that reaction Joee, 👏👏👏
I'm loving the work here. The phenomenon of children repeating abusive cycles is well studied in psychology in twins. There is also a study of rats, where they electroshocked rats who ate from a blue dish or something, and then they bred the rats and 2 generations later the rats were still afraid of the blue dish, despite never having been electroshocked.
DNA is powerful shit.
I saved this reaction and money game for this morning to tide me over until the new video. And then I learned that you are about to do animal flow! Best morning ever!
Lindsey, u javelin an exciting afternoon ahead of u🤣🤣🤣 thanks for watching tho
Thank you Joe.. Great review. You have fallen down the Ren rabbit hole with the rest of us and you won't be disappointed.
The videography perspective is really new to me. Greatly enjoyed this reaction.
Let’s goooooo !! BP you been killing it bro keep it coming
BP is the man!!!
Well written and filmed masterpiece says it all. Thank you for another truly satisfying reaction.👍🦇
Seagull I'm glad u like it!
I've watched dozens of reactions to this video and never once did anyone (including myself) notice that someone was watching him.
Such a great reaction channel concept to have other ppl join in aswel.
🇬🇧 owns the game these days 😉 😜
BP is amazing!
Joe E rocks. He has a realness that is refreshing and I appreciate the 2 of you helping Ren and others .Keep it up. I am not a forty but a late 50.
Thank u Tom, hearing that means the world to me!
