Gracias Auric por ser siempre un combatiente a la critica y por definir un estilo en una epoca de corrientes debussianas, wagnerianas y ravelistas. Tu estilo cercano a Stravinsky con tu magia personal aporta una vision clara de la época.

I've always found Auric's music enjoyable, and quite often, like this opus, a lot of fun.

Stravinsky's Soldier's Tale must have influenced Auric. The two works should be programmed together, they are both wonderful pieces.

They knew each other pretty well at that time - and the jazz influence is present in their music, and in that of Darius Milhaud (the beginning of the second movement here puts me in mind of Milhaud's "Création du Monde" - same epoc)

I assume this is the suite he composed based on the music he composed for the theatre piece of the same name, produced and directed by the great Louis Jouvet at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Paris, in 1924.
