  • A common question I have been getting lately, is which cooking oils are good for me, and which ones are bad. Also, you guys want to know when it safe to use olive oil, and what oils can be used for high heat cooking. Well, we went back to Costco to give you guys all of the information you need to know about cooking oils. I break it down and let you know which oils are healthy ans safe to cook with, and which oils are downright toxic(hint, it's veggie oil). Many people believe that olive oil is not safe to cook with and that i has a low smoke point and sauces cancer, where did this come from? Watch the video and learn about this amazing monounsaturated fat that is great for cooking under with almost any heat. Not all fats are created equal which is why I wanted to explain to you guys when to use certain oils, and how to use them. Some oils have higher smoke points, some are flavorless, and some are so highly refined and processed, you need to stay away because they are bad for your health. Let me know what other videos you want to see, and what the next grocery haul should be? Much Love..Bobby, Dessi, & Art XOXO

My grandmother "suffered" from using too much coconut oil. She would cook with it, put it in her hair, rub it over her skin and she died from smooth skin, no health conditions and it killed her in her sleep when she was 109. She didn't even get to spend a day in the hospital or get the flu because of it. Coconut oil should be banned and illegal! LOL!

I am fat and can't exercise much because I have 1 fracture and 8 extruded disks.
People warned me that my favorite food in the world, Thai Tom Ka Khai, would kill me, because of the deadly coconut milk it contained. I told them my body told me it was good but I cut back a bit.
Then Brandeis University busted the myth created by Harvard when they locked up a 1950's study proving coconut oil was GOOD for people. They were bought off by a big endowment from big pharma.
At 62 years of age I finally got an echocardiogram. I was terrified, since I used coconut oil and milk a LOT.
My results: my heart and arteries were in much better than average shape, despite my morbid obesity and inability to do aerobics.
I am convinced COCONUT OIL is a major contributing factor.

Thanks for the helpful explanation on various cooking oils We grew up in South Asia eating foods daily made with coconut oil, coconut milk, drinking coconut water, and getting coconut oil head massage before our baths. Then the scientist in the west published that the coconut oil was bad news, just to propaganda and market the process oils that were manufactured in the west, such as the vegetable and canola oils, even hyping up the olive oil, all marketing gimmicks , now with recent studies thankfully the Coconut oil has got its rightful recognition.

Believe me I will never taste the same olive oil since I came to Usa

I appreciate your in-depth analysis of different cooking oils, especially debunking common misconceptions about olive oil. As a producer of extra virgin olive oil in the South of Italy, it's encouraging to see influencers like you educating the public about the health benefits and versatility of this "liquid gold."
Your point on olive oil's suitability for most cooking, including high heat, is spot-on. Contrary to popular belief, quality extra virgin olive oil has a relatively high smoke point and preserves its beneficial properties even when heated.
Moreover, you've touched on a vital point - the processing method. It's true; heavily refined oils lose their nutritional value and can even become harmful. On the contrary, olive oil, especially when cold-pressed, retains its nutrients and antioxidants, making it a healthier choice.
Keep up the good work in demystifying the world of cooking oils and promoting healthier choices. Your efforts are a valuable resource for many home cooks!

For people who are prone to skin eczema, I would test the oils on your skin as well. Put some oil where you are prone to get itching like your stomach or interior elbows and knees. Do it for three consecutive days and see if notice any itching or redness. My eczema, IBS and painful constipation is almost always cause by vegetable oils. When I switch to Butter, the IBS goes away and I can poop without pain. And when I switch to coconut oil based soaps, my skin never breaks out. I always thought I had gluten issues because I couldn't tolerate Pizza, but it was the Olive Oil in my case. I once drank EVO for a holistic gallbladder flush and my whole body turned red and itchy.

Chosen foods avocado oil is 6.99 per 16.9 Oz bottle at Amazon, qty 4 would be 2L for about 28$ which is only 8$ more than what Costco used to carry..I think it's worth it because these individual bottles and keeps fresh longer rather than opening a big 2L bottle.

Love this video! I was so confused about what type of oil to use and guiltily bought refined canola/sunflower for years, but this same week I found the chosen foods avocado oil on sale ($9 US a bottle!) and bought 5 months worth supply! One small correction in your video - coconut oil does not whiten teeth (I'm a hygienist and get questions about whitening often). Only hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide does that. Other than that, great video!

Thank You! I wanted to know the info you gave. I got very confusing information on what oil to use, and didn’t know which way to go. BTW, Costco near Baltimore carries a Kirkland Grape Seed oil. It doesn’t have any title other than GS Oil. I guess I won’t be getting it again since I don’t know how it is made. It’s a shame, I liked how it cooked. I’ll check out Aldi’s next time for the GS oil. I haven’t tried Avocado because I thought that it would have a flavor. I’m glad to hear you say it is neutral. Thanks again.

Hey Bobby! Thanks for the video I just wanted to let you know, because I just learned it myself today.... Not sure if if it is true but, makes sense... Is get the olive oil in really dark containers. Over time the lighter containers will change the formula of the olive oil and turns it bad. The oils you suggested are actually the ones I use. So thank you for confirming the good oils 😊😉😀

    • @Quiddler
      @Quiddler 5 лет назад +5

The lighter containers don't change the oil. Lighter containers let in more sunlight, and it's the exposure to light that makes the oil go bad.

But is was being promoted as "healthier" oil in the 50s by the biochemist Ancel Keys, who is the father of the hyper lipid throttle, a failed medical theory which the cholesterol lowering drug is based on. By 1980 the whole of US switch to plant oil, and within 40 years heart disease became US no. 1 killer.
