    The added bonus of using non-aerosol spray is that it is suitable for non-stick pans. The aerosols degrade the non-stick coating and you may need to replace the pan sooner

    Here's something I found that you may want to read.
    THE MYTH OF EXPELLER PRESSED
    If my oil says expeller pressed does that mean its okay?
    No. Here’s why:
    Bottles of organic oil often state “expeller pressed” as a selling point, to suggest that it has been gently treated, in an extra-virgin sort of way. But that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Firstly, expeller pressed simply means that the first step of the extraction was mechanical. The second step was probably the standard, solvent extraction using hexane.
    But once the expeller-pressed oil has been extracted, it’s generally also refined, bleached and deodorized. These three additional treatments guarantee that the polyunsaturated fatty acid molecules will be oxidized in ways that generate toxins like 4-hydroxyhexanal, 4-hydroxynonanol, aldehydes and more. These compounds aren’t just hard to pronounce, they’re hard for our cells to tolerate and lead to mitochondrial uncoupling, DNA damage, free radical cascades and other cell-damaging events that accelerate the aging process and contribute to disabling disease. Don’t be fooled. (For more information, please read chapters 7 and 8 of the 2017 edition of Deep Nutrition: Why Your Genes Need Traditional Food)

    From what I’ve seen, sunflower oil usually doesn’t have GMO in it so if you can find sunflower oil that’s expeller pressed and unrefined its an excellent oil. Otherwise I only use either extra virgin olive oil, expeller pressed avocado oil, butter, or ghee.

      The trickery in the ingredients list. I've seen so many bottles of "olive oil" that when you look in the ingredients list its first ingredient is vegetable oil (soybean oil).
      Also, for cooking spray if it says soy lecithin in the ingredients list (last item) then it's not the kind of cooking spray you want, because it becomes cancerous at high temperatures.

    Just to make it clear for people. Both extra virgin and refined olive oils have essentially the same fatty acid profile. 100% Refined olive oil which means no virgin oils mixed in is around 70% Oleic acid and 1.5% linoleic only a tiny difference compared to extra virgin.
    "extra light" Olive oil would be the closest to pure refined olive oil on the market as most of the refined variety of olive oils on the market have some extra virgin olive oil mixed in to give it a slight aroma and taste. So you're still getting some of the minerals and vitamins and antioxidants from the extra virgin as well.
    Regardless of the type of olive oil, it has the same fatty acid profile, with very very minuscule differences in terms of oleic vs linoleic acid ratio. 100% Refined olive has a tiny bit more linoleic but by half a percentage point.
    I wouldn't worry too much about finding the most extra extra virgin oil possible. It doesn't really matter. What matters is the fatty acid profile.

    Hey guys, #itstheweekend hope your holiday was amazing with baby Rose! 👶🏻🌹🍯❤️. When it comes to oils it’s very overwhelming & tricky, I bought an olive oil that had no olive oil in the ingredients!😭 Now because of you guys I read labels before buying! #2020 is going to be your year!!!!🍾🥂

    I almost cried after reading that there is “soy oil” in the baby formula I use. Currently in my baby #2. Similac pro advance. Now I feel like I’m feeding my baby garbage and I need to find a new one. Any recommendations?? I know Rose is breast fed but anyone with any clean formula recs? Also not organic!
    High oleic sunflower oil, not expeller pressed, and soy oil 😣

      😢 yea every list I reference also recommends the one we already use. It’s not even organic and it’s supposedly a #1. I can’t wait until Rose starts eating! Mine is almost 4 months now so I’ll have a whole slew of things for her to try as her first foods! Think you’d said egg yolk (pasture raised of course) was gonna be one of her first foods. Yum

      Through out time goat milk has been the replacement for mother's milk. I know women personally who did this - for the same reason as you. They saw that formula is made w/ a ton of sugar - as much as soda, and bad fats. Really formula is a baby milk shake.

  • @stangmann1521

    Buying quality extra virgin olive oil is hard, but not because there aren't quality products on supermarket shelves. It's because there are just no rules to stop bad actors from misrepresenting what they're selling..! Olive oil producers have been fighting against misleading labeling and misrepresented quality for a long time..! In 2015 and 2019, tests performed by the National Consumers League found that about half of all olive oils on store shelves weren't everything that they were purported to be on the label. !!

    • @stangmann1521
      @stangmann1521 4 года назад +1

      Like extra virgin olive oil, cold-pressed avocado oil is unrefined, so retains the flavor and color characteristics of the fruit , so it's always best to look for expeller pressed. !

      HULKshooter32 maybe the oils back in the day were better? However I do think he said that started some time ago. Be careful anyway, because it comes down to genetics.

    • @razzlfraz
      @razzlfraz 4 года назад +10

      It has to do with genetics. There is a mucus layer in our stomach that keeps chemicals from entering our blood stream. As most people get older this layer breaks down. Once chemicals get in it's common for arthritis, dementia, heart problems, and other long term problems to start to surface. The body fights this at first by creating an inflammation response. This causes stomach aches and all sorts of health related problems at first.
      If the cheaper oils, especially soybean oil, get past that layer, it will cause an inflammation response, and eventually lead to medical problems later on in life.
      It's entirely possible your grandmother's genetics are better than the average person. It could be her diet too. Eg, most kinds of mushrooms provide vitamins that help keep the mucus layer healthy. Also, hormone levels in females have a lot to do with it.
      You can get a rough estimate how good your defenses are by your skin texture and if you get zits from time to time. The drier you are on the outside, the drier you are on the inside.
