They feel cheap to people because they're lighter, due to requiring less components and having fans instead of very heavy heatsink. Their circuitry is very stout, especially on the newest models.
That's because half bridge designs are using the same technology that been around for the past 20+ years requiring more components and making it weigh more, whereas the Taramps is using the latest full bridge design. TBH it will eventually get to a point it no longer makes sense to stick with half bridge design over full bridge and you'll see all the big names switching to it. Half bridge is pretty outdated now as far as design goes. Full bridge offers great power, less components (meaning less parts that can fail within the amplifier), greater efficiency as well. The build quality can be just as good as most Korean built half bridge designs too. Look at Powerus amplifiers for example, their PW15000 is literally one of the best amps on the market and wayyyy cheaper than any half bridge amplifier with similar power and build quality.
@iThoughtUHad2Bitch lol this is a funny comment 🤣. @@Mr.NpK143 Thanks for your comment. Care to share the info on Powerus going out of business? Sound Digital is no where close to Powerus as far a build quality and implementation, just like taramps isn't either. Any full bridge amp can play lows just as well if not better than a half bridge design. I believe you're mistaken of how these amplifiers work and how to calculate efficiency. The efficiency of the half-bridge converter is lower than that of the full-bridge converter because the half-bridge converter experiences a higher current stress. Full-bridge inverters are more efficient than half-bridge inverters because they can utilize the entire DC voltage swing, from 0 volts to the peak voltage. I invite you to read a book about basic circuitry design before making false claims. Actually, here is a video to make it easy for you to understand. ruclips.net/video/b6tyjXSHvGg/видео.html
Try setting the LPF on the amp with an O scope, the marking arent correct and taper off around 37hz at halfway. Also use a DSP to set a -24db 60/80hz crossover and you'll be good.
They do last it's just ppl wanna run em high voltage taramps don't like it. Gotta have externally cooling fans if your running it hard half ohm .the bass version line up surprisingly has worst rail voltage limit then the regular smart model or their MD model for comparison. Seen plenty old old MD amps. Guys just abuse their shit an a common issue is because how big the fans are in the heat sink if you got any little strand of copper laying around close from biting down on the wire connections power or speakers. One little strand sucks in POP!!! goes the mosfets !!!
They last just fine. It's the people using them on crap electrical that tend to blow them, they aren't as forgiving as Korean boards with voltage drops or over voltage.

Crazy how the bass version doesn’t make as much power this baffles me
Have the smart 5. It's loud af but I put my synergy 3k back in. Sounds a ton better imo but nice to have when I just wanna get loud
Many of the "sound" complaints are remedied with dsp or external xover
Try setting the LPF on the amp with an O scope, the marking arent correct and taper off around 37hz at halfway. Also use a DSP to set a -24db 60/80hz crossover and you'll be good.
Outstanding!!
Wish they built this to last ,,but they dont,,
Dam shame!!!
They do last
Had my smart 3 bass for 1 year and 6months now
They last just fine. It's the people using them on crap electrical that tend to blow them, they aren't as forgiving as Korean boards with voltage drops or over voltage.
I've got the smart 3 in my jeep that is 3 yrs old now. And have used the smart bass 5k in my Mercedes now for over 1.5 yrs. I know MD series is kinda wishy washy, but these smart amps are super solid!
10KW
Music is way too loud
Hey I've made some changes on my newest video, please let me know if it's any better.
I bet it does six and a half @ 1
Wow, it does a lot better than the smart 5K! I need one of those in my life
you should scratch that SMD crap off your AD1 or at least put your sticker over it.. SM is such a tool and he had NO HAND in designing or creating that device. Tony D make that.. SM just happened to pay him for advertising space
Thanks Chuck
SM is an absolute fallace
