Is Toyota the next Boeing? Profits over People…

- Is Toyota following suit with Boeing? Currently, Boeing is under a lot of scrutiny for cutting corners, outsourcing manufacturing outside the US, building sub-par aircraft. There are rising safety concerns for Boeing aircraft after we saw the door detach from a 737 Max 9 mid-flight back in January. Since then, we’ve seen some more concerning details come out about the Fortune 500 company. The 777 and 787 Dreamliner jets are alleged to have unsafe aspects that may lead to catastrophic failure in flight.
We’re seeing similar stories plague Toyota right now. Toyota has outsourced 2024 Tacoma production entirely to Mexico where we are seeing numerous quality control issues stem from. Transmission failures, clutch problems, panel gapping, loose components, weak off roading progress, etc… Same goes for the 2022+ Toyota Tundra. We’re seeing engine failures left and right due to faulty main crankshaft bearings. Or as Toyota says… “engine debris” from production. 👀
On top of the flawed designs in and out, Toyota has hiked prices 20-25% across the board… rendering these trucks unattainable for most Americans. Mos Americans font want to spend over $50K for their midsize pickup, let alone one that comes with a turbo 4 banger… meh. And over $70K for the Tundra? No thanks. Seems to me, Toyota is trying to pay off their $242B debt. What say you?
Let me know what you think. Do you think Toyota is following in Boeing’s footsteps? Both companies ate putting profits over people.

I’m done with Toyota.
Good. Millions of other ain't done yet!
I am also.
Tell me you can’t afford it without telling me you can’t afford it
I’ll keep my naturally aspirated 4 cylinder. She’s slow but trustworthy
No more Toyota for me. I'm getting a Nissan Frontier. I don't want turbo 4.
Nissan went against the Turbo Trend and are finding out that truck owners prefer N/A V6s and V8s.
Frontier just looks so dated
delusional as fk, nissan is still shit
@@robertyoung8289WOW, I'll take your advice. I like the looks.
@@shattered115you sure about that, because the new Nissan Armada and Infiniti QX80 are receiving a 3.5TT engine for this next iteration replacing the V8. Not to mention all the problems Nissans having with the VC turbo engines, so they aren’t immune either.
Still time to get a 2024 4Runner!!!!😅😂
Don’t want one. Wonder if the fill size Chevy PU can be ordered with the LS-1 engine. It’s better than the 5.7 Toyota V-8 and gets 8-10 mpg.
Had one on order from Feb 2024. I declined the purchase as they wanted 440$ cdn dollars every 2 weeks for 7 years. It was a white TRD Off Road. No upgrades….. not willing to pay 18k in interest.
@@jsd354Just say you cant afford one.
@@iksnipusyou’re not missing anything. They are just SO old for how expensive they are. I bought a 2024 in Feb and already traded it in last week. If you do a lot of commuting to work it’s agonizing to drive. Great off road tho! But there are SO many other vehicles that can fill that role and not sacrifice comfort.
Yeah for like $56K, their prices are insane.
Stop making them in Mexico
Made in Mexico would be fine if they upheld their QC standards and passed the labor savings onto the consumer. Most domestic US factories are mostly staffed by minorities anyways lol
Plenty of 3rd Generation Tacoma have been manufactured in Mexico are just fine. The majority of vehicle issues regardless of manufacturer have to do with suppliers and problems they sometimes cause to meet the manufacturers' deadlines and constraints. If we want to jump location, there are plenty, in fact so many vehicles built in America that have been recalled that to list would be too many for this media. There have been literally thousands of cases where American plant workers have been caught drinking or doing other drugs during lunch or breaks causing quality control issues. Multiple reports of rattles being heard in new cars only to find out some American plant worker stuck their soda can behind the quarter panel. Stop being a moron and understand that there are lazy shits all over this world that do not take pride in their work.
The engines and trans aren’t made in Mexico…trucks are just assembled there. At least… I think
@@Getusomthere leaving crap in them that makes them fail
@@quintonhorne5152 no they’re not,,,,the engines are already put together when they get to Mexico …it’s not like the mexicans are taking them apart and putting debris in them… so it’s kinda hard to blame them for this.
Lowering the price isn’t going to make the recalls go away
Right, but it would at least demonstrate that Toyota still has a sense of humility.
Just bought a used LX570. I think we are going to see more and more people going to the old reliable Toyota products with naturally aspirated engines.
I own a '21 Tundra and absolutely love the truck and the engine. Despite living in Washington, where gas prices are at least a dollar higher, it doesn't bother me. That V8 engine brings so much joy.
If I were in the market today, I would consider a used Toyota vehicle, and that's coming from someone who has always bought new.
Well that won't be new now will it?
I honestly believe it’s a design issue than a “debris” issue that’s causing these engine failures.
Agree. No way is it “debris” that is causing the failures. The Car Care Nut has stated they issued new part numbers for the short block and #1 and #4 crank bearings. They are lying again. The CEO needs to step down immediately.
Watch the video from The Car Care Nut (previous Toyota tech), he found out that Toyota changed two parts in the short block. Just the change didn't happen until some time in January of 2024.
They can’t admit it or it’s a class action lawsuit

Just too much $$$ for a midsized truck! They will get the bugs worked out but, Toyota has priced too many customers out of the market! They assumed that fan boys would take second mortgages out to pay $70,000 with interest.
Overpriced big time! No way in hell would I pay 70 thousand for a new Tundra truck that has quality issues, and no way would I pay for a new Tacoma truck made in Mexico and it is almost 50 thousand with a turbo 4 cylinder engine! I love my 2018 Toyota Camry SE and my wife loves her 2014 Lexus ES 350, no major problems with our vehicles so far. I still want to get a Tundra truck 2018 - 2021, but my wife loves the Lexus GX 460. If we go the Lexus route with the GX, I will definitely get the one with a V8 engine. I refuse to let Toyota take me to the cleaners! I don't trust the turbo engines just like I don't trust our government trying push Electric Vehicles on us.
What about the 8 speed tranny in that Camry. Test drove one a couple of years ago and the transmission constantly hunting for gears. no good.
@@josephkelleher8820 Just get the hybrid. Its a smooth as an EV.
Toyota was more worried about making their Tacoma dash look like an iPad than making a quality truck
Sure, because an old 19" tube TV is much better than a new 65" TV.
@@dvader3263 sure…we’ll go with that
I purchased a New 23 GX460 for 65 thousand 💙the V8 engine! I personally think Toyota will never make better engines than its V8 and V6 engines ever again!!!
I have posted this comment about Toyota as a company in other comments sections and I'm posting it here as well.
Toyota is going down the same road now as Boeing, General Electric, and Hewlett Packard. What we are seeing now with Toyota is what happens when you have a company founded and managed by executives with scientific and engineering background taken over by executives with marketing, accounting, and law background.
You have to try extra hard to screw up a manual transmission well done Toyota
Haha right!? 😂
Toyota should do the same thing that Chevy did with Silverado. Offer V8 and twin turbo V6 and let customers decide what they want.Very simple solution.
The V8 is extra $ plus the Silverado 1500 I looked at was made in Mexico. Doesn't work for me.
A lot of people including me would gladly pay more money for V8.
GM makes enough EVs so they can offer a V8 without buying credits.
@@steven4315 Maybe Toyota should offer more EVs and keep V8 in Tundra. Having more engine options is always a good idea.
@@zemo2332 The Japanese have never really understood the appeal of the V8.
Imagine how bad it is that they are saying engine debris, which is pretty bad and extremely irresponsible and lack of everything when it comes to car making.
Well did you see the Tacoma sales numbers for Q2? Down 40% from last year so it isn’t going great
I've heard Toyota employees rationalize "sales are always slow in redesigned model years", I'm sure that can be true, for us consumer I hope it's BS....
as I don't hate the turbo etc. virtually every review says vastly superior drive... as it should be. 3rd Gen at stock tune SUCKS.
...I just want 40% downturn to really hurt (get their attention) as I want market forces driving their prices down to earth and all the Mexican labor optics to hit them hard (lookout if Trump is put back where he belongs - he'll slap a stinging tariff on Mexico born Toyotas as he should)
@@tim3308 I think the “it’s just because it was re design” on why it is not selling is like you said a BS excuse, it was more the redesign had issues, it may drive better but reliability wise so far it doesn’t seem better especially for this significantprice increase. Also I am waiting for the redesigned Camry to be out longer since I think that’s gonna blow up that redesign doesn’t sell for a while narrative since the the Camry redesigned does everything, the Tacoma redesign should’ve done it takes what was there and just basically improves on it and also keeps the price affordable
Even though the new Camry is hybrid only, the hybrid system used has been around for years now with very little issues and also Camry drivers want good mileage, affordability, and reliability which the new Camry does but it depends on what you target customer base is like Tacoma shoppers will value different things from Prius owners for example
Yes but prices are what 50 percent higher so they win 😂 , sad toyoda failing
@@tim3308 Trump didn't bring any manufacturing jobs back to the US. If you believe that, I've got a nice piece of land to sell you. In addition, he's not likely going to have the ability to make any changes should he win a second term. It's all about taxes and labor costs. As long as labor costs save the manufacturers money, they will continue manufacturing outside of the US. The biggest problem is that US employees act entitled and believe they deserve more than they do for unskilled labor work. Not going to happen, manufacturers will continue leaving and as long as forced minimum wages are allowed it will get worse and worse.
Went into test drive the new Tacoma last night (Ontario, Canada), all models on the lot were marked sold, only a manual was available on the lot and nothing to test drive. I did test drive a 23 TRD Sport, walked away liking it. Stopped at the Nissan dealership afterwords, test drove a 24 PRO4X and walked away impressed. The Tacoma isn't a slouch but the Frontier has more refined on-road manners.
Interest rates, higher prices and less features on lower trims are working against the Tacoma.
My local dealer is adding a 5k dealer profit charge to all models in their inventory. The sad thing is that people are paying it....WTF!
Pure greed. Smh…
The grills on those 24 Tundras are about fugly as you can get. Their styling ques have been way off for more than a decade.
Bad times for a great company. Shocking
Tundra dude 34 says the tundras are still selling. But the local dealership has more tundras than I’ve ever seen on their lot.
He has to. His whole channel is focused on the tundra alone.
They’re not selling well 😬
$81K for a 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro. Sheeesh Toyota needs to put a halt on these dealerships adding $15k-$20k in mark ups
Agreed. Just pure greed…
I don't believe there is any similarity between the poor corporate culture that has plagued Boeing and Toyota's corporate culture. In my opinion, Toyota is capitalizing on their brand recognition and low inventory, particularly when compared to other brands. The issues we are seeing with the Tundra and other Toyota models are mainly due to the introduction of new models and the incorporation of numerous new technologies. Introducing so much tech can lead to more issues, causing customer frustration. When you purchase a first-year model, it's expected that there might be problems and that you might have to wait a long time for parts to fix those issues.
The engine problems with the new Tundra are somewhat expected when put to real-world use. While they introduced that engine in the Lexus LS first to test it in real-world conditions, I don't think LS owners put that engine under the same stress as Tundra owners. In addition, lab tests don't fully capture the hot/cold cycles, varying humidity, and environmental changes that engines experience in the real world.
I want to clarify that I'm not excusing Toyota for their high prices or perceived drop in quality. I encourage consumers to vote with their wallets and avoid purchasing overpriced Toyota vehicles. As you mentioned, the new Toyota trucks are at least 20% overpriced, and if consumers keep buying them, more people will be priced out of the market for new Toyotas. The reality is that many of us feel like we're living in a third-world country.
On a personal note, I avoid buying vehicles manufactured in Mexico. This is not a reflection on Mexican workers, but rather a concern that underpaid workers may not be able to consistently produce high-quality work.
Well said man. You raise great points.
The new gen toyotas are losing their quality , even the lexus too lots of hard plastic for high priced suv ...hopfully these guys hire better workers and fix these issues before losing its reputation ..
Just bought a low mileage, 1 owner, ‘21 Tundra Platinum. Absolutely love it in windchill pearl. They’re plenty of them out there coming off of lease. Auto trader 👍🏻

Won’t consider a new Tundra at all!!
Yeah it’s a waste of money.
maybe in Toyota's case a lot of vehicles got past QC during siesta time down in Mexico.🤣
Design flaw. They're not designed in Mexico.
WTF is Toyota doing? I went looking for a Prius to buy this week and they don’t exist. They have sorta become a joke of a manufacturer.
Didn’t they offer you a spot on a waiting list?
There's a huge opportunity for some auto maker to take power in the industry. If someone just made a good reliable truck at a decent prize they'll dominate
lol nobody makes good trucks....

Nissan has already done this. The Frontier has been one of the most reliable trucks for decades. Toyota fanboys just turned their noses up at it, but Nissan is getting the last laugh now.

unfortunately that appears to be the norm for all manufacturers profit over reliability. I remember reading a story about the Subaru EV in Japan where the rear wheels were falling off. I may be wrong but it was a joint venture with Toyota. Keep up the great reporting 👍
Mexico is not knowing for building cars no wonder the quality sucks now for Toyota 😂
Untamed, with major recall on Tundra I attempted to see if I could get a deal on a Tundra. Figured may get a great deal because of the recall and Tundra not selling so well currently. I was shocked when I was willing to pay $77,000 all in for a new Tundra out here in Cali at City Toyota of Daly City and the sales manager literally stated that I was $30k off from making a deal! Can you believe that!!? So basically I would end up paying over $100k if I wanted this Tundra. And it wasn’t a Platinum or Capstone. Unfortunately I do live in Cali where there are a bunch of idiots who would think that would be a reasonable deal. I am sure that’s why this particular dealer was so arrogant in his statement. I am a 3rd gen Tacoma owner who bought his 3rd gen in late 2015 and paid $38k for a loaded as they came TRD OR. I never thought I would hate Toyota but after this experience I will never buy a Toyota again. I am done.
people willing to pay 77k for a Tundra are hopeless but then again that's what a Californian would do!
Man that’s ridiculous. CA is the worst…
Hard lesson learned and time will tell what we see next coming out of Toyota.
Tundradude34 just posted a big brag about how the June numbers are highest ever for June. Only slightly down from last month, meaning the recall had no effect on the 24 sales. This is got to be complete and total garbage fallacy maybe they are selling them to rental car companies for a loss? Just to make the numbers look better? Would be good for you to do a deep dive into this and prove him wrong.
Debris in the motor is not the cause, it’s the effect of a poorly designed block
Great video! Thanks!
Thank you for the kind feedback!
Toyota is a lot like Bud Light & a lot of people will try something new and not come back to Toyota . Toyota will never make up for the sales that they have lost. Toyota needs to get back to basics for consumers like us that just want a good reliable quality product.
Curious if you've ever received threatening letters from corporate offices
Those twin turbos and hybrid battery 🔋 boost is destroying that V6 engine
Hopefully the Land Cruiser doesn’t sh!t the bed
Haha I sure hope not… still built in Japan. 🤞
I can't justify spending the equivalent of a down payment for a house on a Toyota Tacoma TRD PRO. I just can't. I got my TRD PRO 4Runner in 2019 for $51,000 CDN. Now, a freakin 2023 TRD OFF-ROAD, a trim down, is $65-68,000 + TAXES. I make good money, I work overtime, we are a middle class to lower middle class income family and it's too rich for my blood. Toyota has priced themselves out of the family affordability market. It's not worth it. I'd rather wait 4-5 more years and see what else comes out on the market. The pricing is ridiculous.
Hubris before the fall. No one should be charging this much for a mid size truck. Period. They’ve priced us out. I guess they want us to get a Frontier.
The sales number for the Tundra this past month isnt matching your accounting for vehicles on the lot. Something is smelling. Or maybe they are just running through a lot of inventory....I don't know.
I argue that there is no such thing as government funded. It actually is taxpayer funded
Was determined to upgrade to a TRD Pro during the initial teases for the 4th gen but after the full reveal and pricing, I am going the Ranger Raptor route instead.

I’ve looked in person the new land cruiser . Very poor quality. Cheap plastics. The door handles are flimsy and squeak. No more cool box. The metal sheet of the hood is so thin than you can bend it with your finger . Try it in the point right near the hook that attaches it to the car and you’ll see. There is no need to tell anything about the inline 4. Really sad to see this as a 21 4runner owner
@untamed what are your thoughts on the GX550? Seems to be a very similar engine spec (twin turbo, 3.4l V6), GX550 is made in Japan, Tundra I believe is made in Texas. Obviously the GX is just starting to roll out so hopefully it’s an issue of the past. Thoughts? Thanks bro!
I don't think manufacturing labor costs are a huge percent of the cost of a vehicle.
not keeping the engines clean while they wait for install is absolutely juvenile and it's so easily preventable. such rookie mistakes.

Wow, I am amazed at how many people are certain that Toyota has been and is committing fraud, certain that the problem is a design flaw. I would like to presume that the folks making these statements are engineers, mechanics, machinists, and actually own and / or have physically examined one of these failures. I certainly do not have the credentials to make such remarks with certainty. As an LX tt owner, I too am not happy with any of these failures. Im under the impression that some are actually enjoying the whole thing. I wonder if the actual truth with evidence will ever come to light, or if we have been told the truth. With that said I will wait to know more. As a non engineer I'm not sure why the debris scenario is so outrageous to so many, or why a company would admit to such sloppy work to make itself look better. I decided to wait it out rather than rush to Lexus or Carmax to unload, or be told they will not take my trade. I really hope to know the entire truth about all of this.......not sure if all of us will ever be satisfied.
The more videos you release the more 4th gen I see out on the road lol..
Toyota has spent such a massive amount of money launching entirely new vehicles I think there was no way around most of what happened here playing out. Rav4 sales support the entire Company at the moment tho absolutely.

I will not be buying a Toyota. They are trying to screw the consumer.
The fiscal disaster that is car pricing got me to thinking if I really NEED or just want a new vehicle. Yes, my Jeep has issues. Lots of issues. But I still have a warranty. For the price of just 6 months of payments for any of these new $50K trucks I can do all of the following: take my bass boat out every week for six months, go on vacation, put money into my kids college plans, invest into my own savings, and still have about $1,000 sitting around in case my current vehicle has a problem.
At the prices they are charging, these trucks are toys and not tools. I don't need toys.
