    Only the French frigate is FDI (Frigate De Interception) and not FTI.
    There is also an ongoing Greek program for 3 + 1 of these vessels, in addition to the 5 French ones.
    The first of these vessels, the second ship overall, is currently being built and the class will have the names of ancient Greek admirals: Kimon, Nearchus and Formion.
    The first two Greek FDIs will be identical to the French ones, with a later upgrade in Greece, to the Hellenic NAVY's version of the later 1 + 1 ships having 32 A50 VLS instead of 16 and a 21 cell RAM system in the back.
    All Greek ships will eventually carry 32 ASTER 30 missiles, 8 EXOCET MM40 Blk3 anti ship missiles, 4 ASW torpedo tubes, a 76mm OTO MELARA STRALES gun, 2 x 20mm RWS, 1 RAM system and an SH60R helicopter.

      @FLORATOSOTHON Год назад +3

      @@aure5015 Greek-French cooperation goes back a long time.
      During WW1, the Greek Army had units fighting in the Balkan theater under French overall command since 1915, although Greece formally entered the war in 1917.
      Later in 1919 Greece had an army corps with two infantry divisions, under French overall command in Crimea, fighting against the Reds during the Russian civil war.
      During WW2 the Sacred Squadron, one of the units of the Hellenic Army that was reorganized in North Africa fought with General Leclerc's armored division, as a long range reconnaissance force using SAS type jeeps.
      Since the early 1970s:
      The Hellenic Navy, besides the FDI program, was one of the first to buy 4 Combatant 2 missile boats, followed later by 4 Combatant 3A and 6 Combatant 3B boats.
      The Hellenic Army operated AMX-30 tanks and AMX-10 APCs, while the Hellenic Air force bought 40 Mirage F1, 55 Mirage 2000 and so far 24 Rafale fighter aircraft, being delivered.
      We also operate 20 NH-90 helicopters and the Hellenic Aircraft Industry also participated in the Neuron UCAV program and manufactures parts for the Mirage 2000 and A400M aircraft.
      So yes, we do go back a long way and hopefully it will stay that way in the future.

Taking into account that the french navy is decreasing until 2025 before increasing again as part of their navy strategic replacement plan. Then, tonnage built does not say anything about the war capabilities of the warships: technology, capabilities, type of warship (destroyers, aircraft, coastal control, mine warfare...). Last but not least, having warships is a point, having trained crews is an other one at leats as important. Lots of new tech are incorporated into the Ford like new radar, new reactor, EMALS, AAG, etc... But what really plagued it is the new 11 advanced weapons elevator. They could have first tested each one of them on a previous Nimitz carrier before incorporating them all onto the new Ford class carrier. Type 003 on the other hand only has EMALS. It's arresting gear will probably be the same from Type 001 and 002. And it's radar will be the same Type 034A or B used on their destroyers. Hopefully, the new USS John F. Kennedy (CVN-79) will have smooth sailing in it's testing phase as the same issues it will encounter are already patched up with the Ford.

      Now the Russians are making submarines armed with nuclear-powered torpedoes. Status 6. This torpedo cannot be detected before it explodes, its launch range is unlimited, it can be launched even from the pier towards the enemy's country. A 100 megaton thermonuclear head is like 100 silo intercontinental missiles. Even the explosion of one torpedo will destroy a country like the United States (super earthquakes, super tornadoes will begin, which makes it impossible to respond with missiles). This is Russia's response to stealth technology and dreams of a disarming strike against it. And no, I don't want Americans dead.

There are some nations that actually wanted to disband their armies and got attacked as a result. So now we have no choice but to build a military strong enough to stave off immediate threats. False. First of all China build the equivalent of the french navy, IN TERMS OF TONAGE (water displacement), every 4 years. Check your facts. It is known as a recurring problem meet by the chinese navy that their trained people are not enough important to support their warship building plan.
